"Miranda needs to switch it up" is a statement I'll never understand tbh. I think she's got one of the most diverse yet cohesive catalog of albums of any modern country artist in existence. You get artists like Jason Aldean who just repackage the exact same album with the same tired songs and release the same tired songs as singles every couple years without almost any interruption to the flow, but each of Miranda's projects completely stand on their own as individual masterpieces imo. There's a reason why the woman's won some form of Album of the Year award (whether it be CMAs, ACMs, or Grammys) for literally every release she's done except for Kerosene. I didn't see anyone praising Jason Aldean, so I don't get that parallel. I love a lot of Miranda's albums, but they do have a similar feel (there's going to be the rock track/s, the old-school track/s, etc).

That’s like telling Michael Phelps to “change it up” after he steps down from atop the podium. She’s the most awarded female in country music history, and still collects major amounts of hardware regularly. Obviously it’s not all about the awards, but it seems most entertainment/awards organizations can’t get enough of Miranda. I don’t think she should change anything...
She’s classic country to the core and rarely do traditionalists “change it up”.
I mean, sure, it’d be nice to hear different styles - but Miranda puts out very cohesive yet eclectic albums, all while sticking to her roots with every note. She’s mastered her craft and the fans and industry are still all about it.
She’s good doing what she’s doing where she’s at. If you want different sounds, look to her contemporaries: Carrie, Maren, Kacey, Mickey, Kelsea, Ashley, Lauren, etc..

Her pistol annie's albums tend towards traditional country, and I'm assuming the Marfa tapes will be similar. But many of her other solo albums have 100% strayed from traditional country, wildcard was fairly rock forward, and platinum was more pop. The truth is most artists get "old" after a while, you've mostly heard what you're going to hear from them, and even new albums tend to feature songs that sound similar to old ones.

She’s classic country to the core and rarely do traditionalists “change it up”. I wouldn't say that's true as she has plenty of songs that aren't classic country, or even country in general. Also, I'd say there are a fair amount of people who have wanted someone like George Strait to "change it up." Of course no artist is obligated to follow any voice but their own, but fans are also allowed to get bored with someone's work and/or want to hear what else an artist can do. It's not any different than Carrie fans wanting a more 'traditional' or scaled back album from her.

Really sad news here. Scott Whitehead was one-half of the country duo, Hometown News. They were on both VFR Records and Quarterback Records from 2002-2006. Their debut single "Minivan" reached #35 on Mediabase in June of 2002 (their highest-charting single). I don't believe we know the cause of death but obviously, gone way too soon. Whitehead was working recently as a business manager for GrassRoots Promotion, who work singles to secondary country radio.

Reba McEntire announced this morning that she has been asked to sing the main song for a new movie! Four Good Days, starring Glenn Close and Mila Kunis. The trailer looks to have just come out today, and you can hear a snippet of Reba's song throughout.
The gist of it appears to be that Mila's character is a drug addict, and Glenn is her mother, and the movie is an intimate look at their relationship as she tries to get clean.
I've gotta admit, I almost started crying watching this trailer... The powerful lyrics, and the emotion in Reba's voice, on top of Glenn and Mila's already obviously Oscar-worthy performances, left me so shook. This is going to be a hard movie to watch, and I am SO ready!!!

This is a movie I don't wanna miss. On the other hand, Reba's gonna deliver the song I NEED and I'm so excited to hear it

Anyone remember Who Is Fancy and his song “Goodbye” from a few years back? it was a minor hit here. After disappearing for a few years, he’s back under the name Fancy Hagood and making country/country adjacent? music. Who knew?

Kenny suspending his tour until 2022. I applaud him for taking this stance. Agree. I was wondering if he was really going to try it, with the Florida and Texas venues probably being willing to let him do whatever. But seems like he didn't want a piecemeal tour.

From Kenny’s website: “ALL of the stadiums on the 2021 itinerary will still host Kenny’s 2022 tour. It will be a completely new show with a new name, new line-up, lots of new music and plenty of the songs people come to hear. The details are being finalized now, however fans can expect details very shortly.”
He was supposed to be touring with Old Dominion, Florida Georgia Line and Michael Franti. It is kinda a bummer if Old Dominion isn’t on the 2022 edition of the tour since I was really looking forward to seeing them but I’m ok with FGL and Michael Franti being replaced with other acts.

Love this move from Kenny!!! Vaccines are piling up but until we achieve herd immunity, arena tours are a huge NO. Glad he knows that and will be waiting until 2022–I can’t imagine us not having herd immunity by then.

Howdy y'all! I wanted to share something awesome that my local country radio station has been doing lately. It's called Fast Tracks, and it goes down like this: every other week, the four main weekday personalities on the station each showcase one song that they think should be played on the radio that doesn't have much of a chance to do so, whether because it's not a single that would otherwise be put on their playlist, or it's not doing too well on radio, or it's just being criminally ignored by the entire country radio industry. They then send the listeners of the station to their website to listen to each song and vote on the winner! The winner, obviously, gets the opportunity of being played on the radio, thus reaching a larger audience! (And my station's towers are among the best in Indiana--the signal can be reached an hour and a half (five counties) away from their headquarters! This time, the picks include: Lily Rose - Villain Caitlyn Smith ft. Old Dominion - I Can't Callista Clark - It's Cause I Am Caylee Hammack ft. Reba McEntire - Redhead I really wanna hear "Redhead" played on my station, so if you wanna help me out by voting for it to help its chances, you can do so! Just click right here!
You don't have to be from where I live to vote, either! (Which is why I'm telling y'all about this ) (Please help me because it's currently losing by 7% to Lily Rose!!! Which isn't a bad thing, because in this CONSERVATIVE rural place, people being open to an openly lesbian artist being played on the radio is really great to see and warms my heart--but the song ("Villain") and her voice are terrible imo, and "Redhead" is far more worthy)One of the songs that has been really gaining traction around my area thanks to this series is Lainey Wilson's "Things A Man Oughta Know"!!! Before this, the song hadn't been added to this station's playlist, and ever since winning the Fast Tracks edition it was in (even before becoming the OTV pick), she's been played twice a day! It's been really cool getting to hear her on the radio!

taylor - just voted for “Redhead”. I actually like “I Can’t” the best out of those 4 songs but didn’t wanna cause a split vote where “Villian” ends up winning lol. Also, good on the station for all picking women but at the same time they are the ones criminally ignored so it makes sense!

I actually like "VIllian" and think it's overhated here (seriously I feel like at times people hate it more than the stuff we get from Jason Aldean, I did vote for "I Can't" main reason being that "Redhead" isn't even a single where as the other 3 are and I would like to give songs that are already sent to radio some momentum if at all possible and I like it the best of the 4 songs.
