taylor - just voted for โRedheadโ. I actually like โI Canโtโ the best out of those 4 songs but didnโt wanna cause a split vote where โVillianโ ends up winning lol. Also, good on the station for all picking women but at the same time they are the ones criminally ignored so it makes sense! I was glad to see that as well! They havenโt always been all women thoโthe most recent winner of a Fast Track edition was a male artist. Then again, it was a song that likely wasnโt going to be on the airwaves here without this so thatโs my favorite part about itโthe song has been played quite often the past couple weeks and itโs actually quite good imo. Song is called โLast Callโ btw. Forget the guyโs name, but he sounds eerily like Scotty McCreery! I actually like "VIllian" and think it's overhated here (seriously I feel like at times people hate it more than the stuff we get from Jason Aldean, I did vote for "I Can't" main reason being that "Redhead" isn't even a single where as the other 3 are and I would like to give songs that are already sent to radio some momentum if at all possible and I like it the best of the 4 songs. Well, I canโt speak for the rest of us, but Jason Aldean could be the one to sing โVillianโ and Iโd make it a #1 on my personal chart, believe it or not. Lily just does not have a good voice imoโeven Priscilla Block has a better voice imo. (And you know how much I canโt stand her song either ๐) PS. If you like โVillian,โ more power to ya! ๐

My favourite pop country girl Taylor Acorn released a great new one. It's quite sad that I rarely see her name on Pulse. Once the pandemic is over, I'll definitely go to the US to see her.

^cough bboat11 cough Hahaha anyway, Iโm a BIG Taylor Acorn fan and i think there is more of us than you think on the board. This is not as instant for me as Are We, but itโs still really really good! I LOVE her pop covers on her IG/TikTok. Sheโs a star.

Add me to the Taylor Acorn fan club! I've yet to hear something from her I dislike. Her country covers of all these punk/rock songs from her youth give me so much joy. I really need her to finally breakthrough and get signed somewhere. I've been all in on her since "Put You in a Song" back in 2017

Iโm very curious about what the next step is for Morgan Wallenโs return. From what I have gathered is that the radio companies want to start playing him again but no one wants to go first. Morgan and his team are only gonna sit by for so long before he starts doing concerts again, too much money is to be had.
The next couple of months will be interesting because heโs not the Dixie Chicks. Radio doesnโt have the power anymore to end a career. I hope he has learned from this and stays sober.

I would think think they would release a single before summer maybe and see how it does. Iโve heard him on another radio station for the first time this week that is more mainstream in what it plays in my my area aside from the one that never took him off to start with. I just wonder how he is doing with all this as far as if heโs doing rehab or anything like that, then I would say itโs on him when heโs ready, so who knows. The last week or so has been very quiet.

My local station played โ7 Summersโ the other day...i was so shocked I couldnโt help but let it keep playing without turning the station, thinking I was hearing things. I hope by now heโs genuinely changed, but it has only been two months and since that word he flung is not aimed at me, thatโs not my determination to make.
If you ask me, he still has no reason to be played on the radio right now.

yeah i feel like Morgan needs to sit out another year. Leave the current album in the dust and come back when he has new music (preferably where he shows the nuance and depth to acknowledge his shortcomings directly)

Checking on Mediabase, both โ7 Summersโ and More Than My Hometownโ are getting played on some monitored stations. None of the stations are owned by iHeartRadio, Cumulus, or Audacy.

He is still with all the controversies a top 5 biggest star in country music. He will have no problem attracting 10-20k ppl in concert. They are not gonna wait around forever hoping radio forgives him, radio doesnโt have the power anymore to stop successful artist.

The way the industry shunned Morgan went a long way into showing those outside the Country Music community that things were changing so for anyone who is willing to play him on radio or go to one of his concerts or buy his music they are showing that the bad reputation that Country Music has is a fair reputation. Sad thing is I fully believe that to be the case, based on how well his music has still sold since everything happened. This isn't about radio 'forgiving' him, it is about the general public as a whole saying enough is enough and wanting him to be held accountable. Bringing him back now, or even a year from now doesn't work. The damage is done here and everyone needs to move on from him.

Hi there country music lovers!
I'm trying to expand my musical horizons. My music collection has tons of pop and rock, but only a little country. I like country songs that are funny, and I like ones that tell spooky ghost type stories. I also really like country songs that are rebellious and defiant- ones that say eff off to authority, ones that talk about going their own way.
I tried just looking up artist names and then going through lists of their hits, but it's such a slog, wading through heaps of stuff to find those gems. But then I thought, wait! Why not just ask folks who already know all the songs?
So here's the country songs I'm looking for: 1. outlaw country. for example: Steve Earle - Copperhead Road, Hank Williams Jr - Country Boy Can Survive, Cory Marks - Outlaws and Outsiders. 2. humor country. for example: Jerry Reed - Amos Moses, Toby Keith - Red Solo Cup. 3. spooky country. for example: Jim Stafford - Swamp Witch, Robert Earl Keen - Christabel.
Got any song suggestions for me?
ps. I remember a song (1980s?) where the man is singing about old loves of his, and he refers to them by their eye colors, something like- "blue eyes, green eyes, brown eyes". Anybody know who sang it and the title?

They were supposed to have a new album out last year I believe but they're holding off on release for some reason (maybe the pandemic but who knows at this point).

I don't think country music should be so concerned about reputation outside of the country community. What they should begin to care about again is what the actual country fans think and want to hear. It's funny because you point out the idea of country being "unaccepting of anyone who doesn't fit their cookie-cutter world" when now if you don't agree with every liberal idea or being open minded to literally anything, you're wrong. Talk about the tables turning. Obviously, there is still a large audience for Morgan Wallen. IMO not sure when, he's going to return as long as he wants to. Even if he never reaches that mega star status he was pretty much at again, I think he will still be a fine as far as concerts, streaming, and sales if he continues to put out quality music like he has. Obviously you don't feel the same, but I think he's been punished and held accountable. I don't see the point in moving on from him. One mistake shouldn't end someones career like some of are wanting it to. If he was just a "singer" like maybe a Cole Swindell, then sure. The difference here is he is an actual country artist with a following.

One mistake shouldn't end someones career like some of are wanting it to. If he was just a "singer" like maybe a Cole Swindell, then sure. The difference here is he is an actual country artist with a following. I don't feel he's been punished or held accountable even close to as much as he should for a lot of his actions over the past year, not just this last incident. How long until another incident happens. If Country Music wants to reach a wider audience than just the typical Country fans, which they've clearly pushed for over the past 30 years especially with acts like Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Lady A to name a few. To say they shouldn't be so concerned is showing how much you don't understand about what is going on and why the industry acted the way they did towards Morgan. They should absolutely care what the Country fans think and want to hear to a point but they also should want people to know they are not the sexist, racist, homophobic, close-minded group that most people outside of the genre see Country as. I've been a huge Country fan since 1997 and I've been disgusted with the way the Country industry has handled multiple situations that have proven the terrible stereotypes that Country has to most people. Sadly I think you are right that he isn't going away. However to say he is more talented than Cole Swindell is a joke. Neither is all that talented vocally. The edge Morgan has on Cole is his songwriting and that is probably where he should focus his energy on cause I don't think the mainstream will let him back as much as you seem to think he will. Let me bring in the treatment of Mickey Guyton by radio over the past few years, despite her getting massive notoriety from CRS multiple times she hasn't been able to turn that into a hit, even with the songs that got people to notice her. Many are calling the industry racist and sexist for their treatment of her and now you have a huge young star that has the controversy of dropping the N word and it should be just forgiven and moved on from. That is a joke and rather disgusting for anyone to think that is an appropriate response to him at this point. As a longtime fan of Country music I think the reception towards him hasn't been harsh enough, so I will absolutely speak out against him being forgiven. I don't care if he released a duet with Martina McBride at this point I wouldn't give his music the time of day and I never will. This is of course my opinion, and I feel very strongly about it. I get not everyone is gonna agree with me but I still think it is important that we understand why what Morgan did was wrong and demand better from people who we support
