I heard a Rascal Flatts song in a store today, and the melody sounded a lot like "Girl Crush" to me. I just figured out the song is "I Won't Let Go," which apparently came out several years before "Girl Crush." Was there any talk about the melody of "Girl Crush" being very similar to the chorus melody of the Rascal Flatts song?

I know and love both songs and don't think the melody sounds all that similar at all so I'm not sure what you are hearing. Interested to hear if anyone else hears this but I definitely have never heard a similarity with either song. Though I've never listened to them back to back I still don't hear this in either

The productions are different, vocal deliveries are different, subject matter is different...there was never any talk about similar melodies because it wasn't needed. They sound nothing alike.

Though I've never listened to them back to back I still don't hear this in either I didn't mean the entire song. It first struck me on the line "I will stand by you" (sounded like "I want her long blonde hair" when I was in the store and could barely hear the song). (Separate but similar, the chorus of Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry" has a melodic part that's from "Wind Beneath My Wings").

I will say I'd stopped paying attention to Rascal Flatts a long time ago (why I hadn't heard this song) but do like this one. It's rare that I like them, but this song has some strengths.

I posted this in the "Next Girl" thread, but I thought I would share it here as well:
Carly Pearce's next Country Radio single will be "Never Wanted To Be That Girl" (feat. Ashley McBryde). It's set to impact radio in September according to radio personality Brent Michaels.

Technically this is the tweet It obviously implies it is the next single, but I wouldn't 100% lock it in especially when "Next Girl" is still hanging in there.

Given how close "Next Girl" is to going Top 10, they'll probably let it go after it does. I can't imagine they keep pushing it any longer than the next month given how it continues to stall.

Yes, it includes their tours, festivals (Stagecoach!!), and even their residencies, including the upcoming ones in Vegas with Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan. All AEG events in the US, period. Fantastic fantastic fantastic!

Soulless husk!!!! Tbh the production on "Is There Life Out There" sounds a bit cheaper to me than I would have expected... That being said, I was not expecting her to launch into that high note at the end, so that more than made up for it! Besides, the slight melodic changes make this more like how she has been doing the song live lately, so it's a good depiction of how the song has evolved through the years. I have no reservations about the more stripped down acoustic version of "Consider Me Gone" though! It certainly will never replace the epicness of the original, but it's a pleasant reimagining. I think one thing that will take some getting used to is that the key of both of these is lowered from the original versions. If they feel a little less "epic" at first, that's probably a big part of why. Although that should kinda be expected at her age, and I don't think it will hold them back once we're used to them.

Was there any talk about the melody of "Girl Crush" being very similar to the chorus melody of the Rascal Flatts song? It's probably obvious to everyone (especially those listening to music around 1980), but "Girl Crush" melody is simply a slowed down "It's a Heartache" by Bonnie Tyler. Recognized it the first time I heard the song, and rarely hear people make the connection although it's very obvious.

While I'm always excited for a Metallica cover, particularly from someone as vocally talented as Chris, I dislike it. The vocals are too buried in the mix and the specialness of his voice just doesn't come through.

This is one of my favorite songs by Metallica so I was excited to hear his take but the production definitely ruins it
