Canβt lie, sheβs been kinda a guilty pleasure of mine but man, I really do wonder sometimes how much money and nepotism plays into her career. Father worth 7.3 billion, friends with Jimmy Buffett, got signed to his label, meets ZBB, ends up touring with them for 3 years while an unknown label somehow gets her relatively decent airplay to then joining ZBB. The opportunities just lined right up lol

AOC isnβt a human trafficker. Sheβs a borderline communist. Sheβs not. But even if she was, thatβs still not equivalent to a racist authoritarian dictator.

George Strait will yell βPLAY BALLβ at game 6 in Houston tomorrow night. Stop trying to derail the politics thread with country music news!!!! ;) In all seriousness, that's awesome! Glad to see George's name back in the pop culture conversation again lately, between stuff like this and his upcoming tour and possible new album ![](http://i.imgur.com/2smy76v.gif)

Just imagine casually getting EIGHT George Strait autographs in one fell swoop by passing all your album booklets through a fence at a baseball stadium as he's walking by and then chucking a Sharpie at him ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif)

With that definition of βdiversity,β itβs no wonder Bryan is aligning with DeSantis.

What the point of this is? Whatβs the significance of posting this. Who cares what somebody is. In my opinion at the end itβs the music they make that matters to me, in my opinion. I like any type of person who makes music as long as I like the songs they release.

I like any type of person who makes music as long as I like the songs they release. The point of the post is to highlight the general ignorance that still exists in the country music industry. Even when people seem to think they are doing good or supporting "diversity," they don't seem to actually get it. Additionally, that's your right if all that matters to you is the music made, but the reality of the situation is that many people (mostly anyone who isn't a white straight male) have a tough time getting into the country music industry and getting support even when they do get in. To keep acting like gender/race/sexuality don't matter is to keep perpetuating the problem.

You saw Kelly as a last name and presumed it was a she? Regardless, Kelly is also a common name for men (Kelly Oubre, Kelly Slater, lots of politicians) so...

Luke Bryan's definition of "diversity" would be funny if it wasn't tragic...

Luke Bryan's definition of "diversity" would be funny if it wasn't tragic... Yes, but it's also funny to me he also says Chris Stapleton will "potentially" have the same success as Bryan as if Stapleton is some up and comer who doesn't have a 6x platinum album and a slew of awards. It's also wild the writer uses Miranda Lambert as an example of someone who has been "marginalized" considering the record breaking amount of awards she has won. There are much better examples to use there.

Does Nashville justβ¦not have PR people? Like, at all? He sure is doing one hell of a job heading into the CMAs this week.

It's also wild the writer uses Miranda Lambert as an example of someone who has been "marginalized" considering the record breaking amount of awards she has won. There are much better examples to use there. She has more Female Vocalist trophies than #1 country radio hits, so maybe "marginalized" isn't the right phrase to use here exactly, but when the top males of the format are sending everything they release to the top of the charts and Miranda's the reigning EOTY from the ACMs and the most-awarded Female Vocalist in the genre of all-time, she should *probably* have better pull at radio. But, she doesn't, because she has a vagina. Thankfully she doesn't need a bucketload of #1 hits to be successful, but it would've been nice. We need more diversity in the genre in terms of race/sexuality/etc. but country radio hasn't even made it a level playing field for white women yet. π₯΄

Lambert has had more country radio success the past 10-15 years than anyone except Underwood, even if it could be more, and more so she's been very supported in terms of industry awards (not just Female Vocalist wins but many Album/Song/Single awards). There are many talented women who struggle a lot more to get record deals, get airplay when they do have a deal, and to get nominations/awards outside of Female categories.

There are much better examples to use there. I think a lot of singers don't care if radio plays them or not because of the way streaming has progressed. A singer can get a song heard faster on Spotify or Itunes then radio. and plus, the music can be heard globally, which is good for any singer. i personally would rather listen to Spotify or my IPod any day over mainstream radio. Radio just not the same as it was when i was a kid in the 90's. it's always a losing argument cus people have their favorites.

I feel like if somebody could find a way to go into the settings for this website and edit certain celebrity names to automatically censor to something else, it would make this thread a lot less redundant and obnoxious to read every other week. We'd all come in here and see s**t like "The Hamburgler's wife is a transphobe" and "Fugly Hairdo is a racist", and most of us wouldn't feel the need to be as argumentative or defensive when we come in here π
