Huge Alabama fan here. Jeff Cook starred and reprised his lyric in Mountain Music in the Brad Paisley video, Old Alabama. Rest in paradise sir:

Ashley McBryde is finally telling the scary story of why she cryptically/mysteriously cancelled a bunch of shows last year:

But I want to add that we knew she cancelled shows last year because of the horse accident. We don’t know why she cancelled shows and “vanished” for a month this past Summer.

Been hearing rumors for a while, but things have gone quiet. So any news on a new Tim Mcgraw or Brad Paisley album/single?

Overall, the nominations are really good and it looks like they wen't more traditional leaning. I know personally I'm a little sad to see Carrie shut out and Ingrid only in one category, but I think with their projects being more pop, it didn't help them get the support from voters. I was really surprised by Kelsea's nomination though. Wasn't expecting that!

I wasn't expecting a lot for Carrie, but I was at least hopeful for a County Solo Performance nom, because while Ghost Story was a bit underwhelming, she sounded absolutely phenomenal on it, which is what that award is for, the performance of the song. I was a bit annoyed by a few of the noms (the multiple Willie Nelson noms is typical Grammy shenanigans, nominating a legacy act for work that nobody has heard of.)

She was a Grammy favorite toward the beginning of her career, but it felt like she started getting recognized less after that. Also important to note though since you brought up having a hit, it’s weird because by that logic Ghost Story outpeaked all the other nominees in the solo performance as well.

The nominations are a joke. Willie Nelson continuously getting nominated is ridiculous (sorry, and I love Willie). Lainey getting zero nominations while Miranda gets 4, old songs re-released getting nominations, random songs getting nominations. They're nominating the names, not the work, and they're not bothering to keep up with the new names either.

I'm always thankful for the Grammys nominating stuff that's on the quality end of the spectrum that would otherwise go ignored (i.e. the Ashley McBryde album) at other awards shows, but it's also disappointing that they also include stuff... that should've otherwise gone ignored (i.e. Willie Nelson). ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif) Sadly wouldn't be surprised if he wins one of those Grammys too, which would be unfortunate, just like when Vince Gill won with some random album cut over songs like "Bluebird" and "Black Like Me" a year or two(?) ago. Happy to see them leaning in the direction of nominating (even) more female artists though.

Molly Tuttle (female bluegrass artist) got a nomination in Best New Artist. Really surprised Zach Bryan missed BNA nomination. They really don't want him to win lmao.
The country nominations are pretty consistent with past history. If they want to give flowers to veterans, Willie and Dolly are the most suitable and relevant candidiates. That being said, why is Willie Nelson's Live Forever cover from Billy Joe Shaver tribute album elligible for solo performance? Lucinda Williams is also credited, and that should really be one of the songs from his album. Also that Robert Plant/Alison Krauss nomination is random and quite unnecessary.
Ashley McBryde has all three major label albums nominated for Best Country Album. Not everyone can relate!
Brothers Osborne is nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for 8th consecutive year. As no one-off collaborations have won this award, they could win again this year. Funny enough, the song samples On The Road Again by Willie Nelson.
Last but not least, the country nominations are actually all white people. Kane Brown could have a nomination in solo performance I think.

I do not understand Best Country Duo/Group Performance nominees being duets. If they want to award collaborations, make a Best Country Collaboration category.

It's funny because as they decrease the number of awards, they also add categories so there are still a ton of them.

The country genre has so few categories compared to other genres of music as it is, why would they combine categories? How does Country have fewer? It has Country Solo, Country Duo/Group, Country Album, and Country Song (four). That's the same number as 'Pop,' 'Rock,' and Rap (all have four) and more than 'Alternative' (two). R&B has more because they have more specific delineations, but honestly those are covered in Country with the separate 'American Roots' categories (much like 'Rock' is really also included in the 'Alternative' categories).

For the simple fact that country is a huge genre (whether people like that or not) deserves more categories. To combine Female and Male into a Solo category doesn't make sense and actually lowers the chance of your favorites winning. To combine Vocal Duo/Group and Vocal Collaboration into a single category makes me scratch my head. Plus, as some have mentioned, the same artists get nominated and win every year because of name recognition only doesn't take into account the actual artistry of the music.

It's fine for you to feel that way, but there are no separate male/female categories in any genre. Plus, where would non-binary individuals get placed if there were?

Let's all agree the Grammys suck ass and leave it at that. I Agree. As far as the non country ones go the Grammy's are always about Beyonce, Swift and Adele. In Country it seems like Miranda gets nominated all the time even though in my opinion her latest album is probably her worst one. Plus Willie is nominated, he hasnt had music i liked since i was a late teen. They picked the wrong Kelsea song. I would've picked "All I Have". Believe it or not, i'm actually only happy for Maren's Nominations and Cody Johnson.

I feel the Grammys tend to get things mostly right. I would love for a return of the male and female categories for all genres but as Jeng said there’s a benefit for doing it this way! All this Willie hate is funny to me, his music is just as good as it’s always been imo and listening to the nominated song I get why it may have made the cut. To each their own!
