Raelynn’s ‘Keep Up’ is 35 on Shazam. Anyone know why? Maybe because it was recently on the soundtrack of a show on Netflix called Ginny and Georgia.

Great catch! it’s now up to #23 on Shazam and is gaining on Spotify. Read into the show and season 2 just released on Netflix last week and is the #1 show on the platform with 180.47M hours logged in one week. I didn’t even realize releases on Netflix do that well off the jump like that. The right Netflix sync placement could really be a consistent Avenue with breaking artists.

Re: the 2009 tour, I assume, but that's also a lie lol because if it was Brad, I saw that tour several times and he definitely soundchecked. His meet and greet was right after his soundcheck.

Since I know we have some fans of Walker County on here.... (I was shocked to read they have been signed to WMN since 2014 - that's a long time for an act who has had little to no success.)

My Kind of Country finally premieres March 24th on Apple TV+. Kacey Musgraves is co-hosting the country music competition series with Reese Witherspoon while Mickey, Jimmie and Orville will serve as the talent scouts. So happy the pandemic didn’t shelve this!

The concept sounds really cool: "The hybrid series will break down cultural and musical barriers in the country music space, inviting innovative musicians to unleash their authentic voices and take center stage." More info via Billboard:

I love them! This is another great song. Would love to see them get an album out there eventually. It's a shame they've only been attempted at country radio once so far and "Bits & Pieces" was completely ignored. :/

So let’s see if I understand this show. Instead of finding the best talent it’s gonna be about who can break barriers in Country Music, by being African American , Homosexual, Transgender ETC. there is nothing wrong with that. I’m just trying to understand it. why isn’t this on a local TV station like ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox? So people who don’t pay for Apple can try it out.

I don't have to explain to you how wrong this part is. And the second part of your doubt is the lamest comeback ever. It seems you are nitpicking or just having a knee-jerk reaction. Fwiw I don't think these competition shows will produce a breakout star either because they usually put too little support after the show, but support from Apple Music is decent, and I hope they can find one breakout star just to spite people like you tbh.

I took the quote to mean that they won’t be looking for a typical star. Most of the other shows don’t always go for the most talented, they focus on finding radio ready stars which is a narrow view. The fact that you instantly though of them looking for African American, homosexual, and transgender shows that you know exactly who is left out on most shows that focus on radio viability. Also proving why this show is needed.

Eh, I would argue that the voice isn't really focused on finding radio stars either, which is why (unlike idol) they allow older contestants to try out. That said this will be country focused, which is mildly different.

On her 77th birthday, as promised during an appearance earlier this week on The View, Dolly Parton releases a new song titled “Don’t Make Me Have To Come Down There.”

It’s too bad country can’t get the halftime show ever again. Outside of legends like Garth and Shania ….Our only chance is maybe Morgan Wallen. Luke Combs doesn’t have crossover appeal.

Shania ruined it for everyone when she was terrible on the Halftime. Now Garth Brooks or Reba McEntire would be the best choices for every country fan in my opinion.

There are maybe 20 people west of the Mississippi or outside of the US/Canada that would fight for a Garth or Reba halftime show at this point, lol. Not to say they wouldn’t be justifiable choices, but at this point, the Halftime show is made to cater to an audience otherwise not watching the game, to further strengthen ratings. And to bring in media buzz, create a visual spectacle, etc. Garth ain’t gonna do that with a headset mic singing “The Dance.”
Dolly would make more sense, if we’re looking at any legacy acts. Far more global (outside of just English-speaking countries, where country can more easily thrive beyond North American borders), which is arguably one of the biggest factors in the selection process of the HT headliner.
If we’re looking at 2000s and beyond, there are very, very few who could pull it off with a combo of their catalog + worldly name recognition.

If they ask any country artist to do the SB Halftime show, I think it will be Carrie with her ties to NFL & Sunday Night Football.

Then you would have to do a halftime show similar to when they had Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and the rest. Have Garth sing Friends in Low Places Shania Man I feel like a woman Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel Carrie Underwood, Dolly, Luke Combs, and whoever else could make appearances.

I just don't think Carrie has the songbook to reach other audiences other than country. "Before He Cheats," is the perfect song for to be included but what other hits does she have that people outside of country music would even know? "Blown Away," and "Church Bells," are phenomenal songs but no one knows them outside of country music/Carrie fans. Sure, she could do, "The Champion," but again, it's not very well known. Carrie has a fantastic discography, but I don't know if it aligns up with a halftime show. Edit: Like the above poster said, I could see them doing a collaborative show. Would be amazing to have Carrie, Faith, Shania, Miranda, etc. if they wanted to try to cater to an audience that might not be watching the game.

Sorry for the double post, but I feel like Shania was kind of screwed by this (though I admit she didn't do herself any favor lip syncing). She only performed 2 songs (MIFLAW and Up). Of all the hits she could have done I can't believe she did, "UP." And she didn't even get to do the last song. Sting and Gwen Stefani closed the show. Two songs hardly seems like she headlined (I had to double check this to make sure this was correct).
