I know Taylor isn't Country anymore but I'm surprised she has never done with halftime show but I'm sure one day she will unless there is a specific reason she doesn't want to do it.

The rumor is that she was asked about 2023 but declined because she’s waiting until the final re-recording is released and she owns her entire discography, so that she’ll able to perform all of the songs and reap every ounce of the profit rather than having it get siphoned off to Scooter Braun.

Then you would have to do a halftime show similar to when they had Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and the rest. Have Garth sing Friends in Low Places Shania Man I feel like a woman Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel Carrie Underwood, Dolly, Luke Combs, and whoever else could make appearances. This could work. I agree except Darius. I don’t think he’d work with the rest of these artists.

Hyped to hear Chris Stapleton sing the national anthem & Rihanna perform at the halftime show! I don’t always watch the Super Bowl but I’ll be watching this one for sure.

I mean Oklahoma is west of the Mississippi, but yeah, no one in country right now has the global appeal that the Super Bowl halftime show is looking for.
I think the halftime show would be most interesting if it had a blend of genre's, and some reference to the culture of the city it is being played in

A Timberlake/Stapleton halftime show would absolutely smash.

A Timberlake/Stapleton halftime show would absolutely smash. Surely you have to be kidding. Timberlake already did the Super Bowl and it was one of the worst ones in recent history. A catastrophic mess, lmao. 🥴🚮

What about Jason Aldean? A lot of people dislike him but he has a massive appeal even outside of country

Honestly, George Strait would be a better candidate for the Super Bowl halftime show than Jason Aldean, despite being nearly 10 years into his "retirement" and having not an ounce of crossover appeal.
Edit: Actually, I said that like a joke, but the more I think about it, literally nobody would be mad about hearing "Amarillo By Morning" and "All My Ex's Live In Texas" at the Super Bowl, even if they hate country music! And "Ocean Front Property" and "Check Yes Or No" might also have the mass-recognition to be viable... The only problem with George is the lack of flashiness, which honestly may not even be a problem because the #1 complaint the average joe always has about the halftime show is that they always try to do too much... The gimmicks overshadow the performances.

In this day and age, you have to do a lot more for the halftime show than stand there with your guitar, or wander around stage for 15 minutes with a cup of beer. And that’s what renders basically all the men in this genre (except for maybe Garth or Kenny, though Kenny’s international footprint isn’t as strong) pretty much void from the conversation. If anyone in country is to get the halftime show as a primary headlining spot these days, it’d be Dolly, Shania, or Carrie. It just is what it is, whether y’all want to agree with it out of personal taste or not. But, even then, I don’t see the NFL doing that at this point, either. Rather, if it were to happen, I see it likely being a combo of huge country stars with a strong enough presence beyond the US/Canada — Dolly, Shania, Reba, Carrie, Luke Combs, Eric, Miranda, Keith…hell even Kacey Musgraves could be added to the conversation. She’s been playing major international festivals and shows ever since her star exploded in 2018. The only problem with George is the lack of flashiness, which honestly may not even be a problem because the #1 complaint the average joe always has about the halftime show is that they always try to do too much... The Superbowl isn’t trying to appeal to the average joe for halftime shows, though. The average joe is already watching anyways; they’re trying to attract more viewers in addition to them. Enter: the artists who are global, tour large, and emphasize flashiness as part of their entire act.

Enter: the artists who are global, tour large, and emphasize flashiness as part of their entire act. That is true, and a very good point. Although I think eventually the NFL is just going to end up shooting themself in the foot, because they are already rapidly reaching the point where those who are there for the game are completely tuning out for the halftime show, while those who turn on the show have literally no interest in the game and immediately turn it off once the show is over (with the loud online majority of them usually being disappointed by how bad the show was due to sound issues). They're kidding themselves if they think that a bunch of half-naked celebrities flitting around on stage is going to generate more and more global interest in American football indefinitely, even if they are international stars. They are trying to do too much, and eventually they are going to find diminishing returns. In my opinion at least. The average joe is the one who is going to keep making them money indefinitely and reliably with very little need for investment on their part. I think they'd be surprised how well it goes over if they tried catering to the average joes for once. Like seriously just bring out Bon Jovi and let them do their thing! Lmao

The average Joe or Jane that watching the Super Bowl care about the game itself. Other watchers might wanna see the new commercials. I don’t care who sings Halftime as long as it’s entertaining. If somebody asked me who my top 5 personal choices are no matter the genre I’d say: 1. Garth, 2. John Fogerty, 3. Billy Joel, 4. Demi Lovato, 5. Kenny Chesney

But I could not disagree more that he has ANY appeal outside of country music let alone massive appeal. It’s all about the show. They want to attract a younger audience and outside of North America. Jason Aldean is still selling out shows and not everyone attending his shows are country fans only. I live in Miami, FL and at parties randomly someone would play a Jason song and there’ll be people singing along. He could bring in Kelly Clarkson and Ludacris and make it interesting for people to watch. Like someone said before the average joe’s already watch the game but they want more people in and there’s a lot of people under 30 that don’t watch sports and won’t be interested in watching George Strait or Dolly perform. Even tho I live them both they won’t drag people in

Even tho I live them both they won’t drag people in Dolly’s experiencing a massive career renaissance. She’s huge across all demographics, under and over 30. And Aldean’s footprint outside of US/Canada/maybeeeee Australia is meager. I don’t think he’s as big of a draw for something like the halftime show as you’re thinking.

IMO if they were gonna pick a Halftime act politically, a lot of these artists wouldn’t have been selected. Your theory makes no sense.

Politics has absolutely nothing to do with it. If it did, he’d have done the halftime a long time ago. (Legal disclaimer: This is not a defense of him, we’re in agreement that he’s a trash can, etc.)

I do think a Super Bowl in Texas with George Strait would work.

All My Ex’s Check Yes Or No Write This Down Ocean Front Prop Amarillo I was talking with my Sister and we were thinking that an Oklahoma Country Super Star theme would be cool. We were thinking they should have Garth starting the event with “We Shall Be Free” Reba comes out and sings “Fancy” Toby follows singing “How Do You Like Me Now” Blake sing# “Boys Round Here” Carrie sings “Before He Cheats” Then they all come out together to end the event singing “Friends In Low Places”

“It’s Happening Right Here” by RaeLynn is out now. It's also the title song for a new documentary on the often-overlooked human sex trafficking epidemic in this country. http://instagram.com/p/Cn9n6FQAf43 I'm really glad to see her become so invested in this cause.
