Maybe that's just a "sampler", and the second verse isn't cut out? The audio didn't start right at the beginning, or did it?

WTH at this being re-recorded for US radio. It's probably only re-recorded for Hot AC (and they'll probably send this to version to CHR/Pop if it eventually goes there). The original version is more suited for Urban, Urban AC, and Rhythmic. |

No, that's the full version, and the second verse is unfortunately nonexistent in this version. I heard it on SiriusXM The Pulse the other day as well. Seems pointless when it'd fit without being too long especially if they didn't repeat the "when you've given up" section of the chorus the first time through rather than going straight to "when you're crying out." Really like the boost the new mix gives, though. |

Interesting changes. I think I prefer the original for now, but the added production is quite good; pity they had to cut out a verse to do so. Any word on when/if it's going to iTunes?

Yeah, it had another radio mix last year (I presume the UK version is the same as the one I was randomly serviced for Canada last fall) with only minor changes. Bummer about this, though - lengthening the new edit to 3:40 or 3:50 by keeping the second verse and removing the useless repeat in the first chorus (or even the quiet repeat of the first verse at the end) would have been perfect, in my opinion. Album - 3:22 2012 Edit - 3:19 2013 Edit - 3:18 No iTunes date yet, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon considering the Alejandro Sanz version of "Next To Me" is finally going to iTunes next week and Live At The Royal Albert Hall gets its Target-exclusive US release the week after.  p.s. The original slays. The remix is good but it would've been awesome if they kept the second verse. Now it feels unfinished and like she's repeating herself after the first verse.

It initially got a push in spring 2012 - it had an adds date, but then it got pulled except on AAA radio. The album came out in June in the US, but then "Next To Me" didn't get another try here until this February. I don't know why they waited so long to get "Next To Me" out there - she could have probably done much better had she released singles throughout last year as well. |

The new mix was produced by RedOne. Capitol is also re-releasing this in Europe.

The radio edit up on AllAccess (under 'Cool New Music' for top 40) is good too, but yeah - the full length version is the best. IDK what's up with the sound mix in the video, it seems like her vocals are too loud against the music to me.
