^Can't say it's a done deal- anything could happen. It's still seeing great gains, though.

^Can't say it's a done deal- anything could happen. It's still seeing great gains, though. Everything is reminding me of this, sorry. :'( But really, I can't see Robin stalling before taking over WBT, because even if it starts declining by 1M on pop it'll gain more than that on other formats it hasn't peaked yet. The adventage of such multi-format smashes.

Robin has a lot of room to grown on AC, Hot AC, Urban, and Urban AC. Hot AC and Urban alone will help keep it with positive updates.

wow so MOST songs had a lower than usual AI gains. Still, Blurred Lines STILL got one of the biggest AI increases lol. Thought it was a bit closer to 1.8-2 million but still very good. I cant see how this will just 'abruptly slow down' before getting the record for most spins and AI (when it's still getting very good updates on HOT AC and Urban formats). Cant believe the second major wind/life Treasure is getting lol. ALL signs were it was gonna peak in the lower end of the top 10 on pop and the Hot 100 yet it now looks like its going top 5 in overall airplay and may even go higher on the Hot 100!

The single is produced by the Cataracs. Need I say more? That's not really an explanation. The Cataracs don't have many hits where radio would jump all over them. They have 1 huge song (Like A G6) and a few minor hits (Bass Down Low, Better With The Lights Off, Backseat). Now if it was a Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Stargate, even RedOne- i could see radio's rationale to add a song this quickly. Someone above mentioned a CC deal. The one thing I don't understand about CC is that not all of the deals seem to be the same. When Lady Gaga or Rihanna have them- there are these massive updates. But if Enrique's new song had one (and apparently Finally Found You) why are those updates relatively small compared to Gaga and Rihanna? The obvious answer is because he's not as big as they are so does that mean that radio only plays his song maybe once every 3 hours while they play the big stars songs once every hour? What's a CC deal? Does the label pay for the stations to play the song?

^Clear Channel. It's coordinated airplay on however number of CC stations- i.e. at the top of every hour for a certain number of hours. A label may work out a deal with CC- it could involve the label providing incentives to stations (i.e. copies of albums, concert tickets, etc. for listener giveaways). it's probably not merely paying them, as payola is illegal- but there are ways around it.

After "Get Lucky," the next track is almost 100m (less, in BDS numbers) behind "Blurred Lines." Crazy.

Can we say "Blurred Lines" is a challenger for "One Sweet Day" in term of weeks at #1? It's already been #1 for 7 weeks and there's no sign of stopping anytime soon on radio, sales and streaming. .

17 weeks would mean it is still the #1 song overall by October 12th, right? That's a tall order.

I'd say 17 weeks would be a stretch- barring some random YouTube sensation, double digits at the top is a given.

It's going to take something HUGE! to dethrone Blurred Lines. One Direction and Ariana Grande were able to take over on iTunes but it lasted only 1-2 days and Robin was back on top with a sizable lead.

I didn't follow the charts as closely in 2005 when Mariah was slaying everything with "We Belong Together" as I do today so it's very exciting, from a chart watcher's perspective, to witness Blurred Lines' domination. Plus, I love the song.

^WBT didn't really "slay" in sales, though (peaking at No. 2). It had an enormous airplay lead, though, and that's what kept it on top for so long.
BL is No. 1 in airplay and sales, but trails Ms. Cyrus in streaming- so even it isn't completely dominating every component(though it is No. 2 streaming and may top 7m there).

I don't think so. Before it gets close to "One Sweet Day"'s record, it will be going up against new Katy (potentially) and Gaga and the VMAs. I just don't see it happening. Plus, Miley's getting incredibly strong is streaming. I wouldn't be completely shocked to see her take #1 soon either.

But 1D gets minimal airplay, really. Not to mention it's been less than a year since their last album, only a few months since their last single, plus they had the charity single in there, too. I expect Gaga's single to get much stronger airplay and have much more interest in the general public, not just the fanbase like with 1D, and stay #1 for a lot longer. Plus Robin's sales should be down to the 200-300k range by then.

As of now, "We Can't Stop's" streaming total isn't enough to make up for the airplay/sales discrepancy- though the director's cut of her video may give it yet another streaming boost this week.
Billboard hasn't posted how far ahead BL is in points- it did say it slipped 2% in overall points this past week, while Cyrus' single gained 15% in overall chart points.
