Katy is not foolin around with Prism. Full throttle till album release. Can't even explain how I feel what she has in store for the second single. This strategy with Pepsi is brilliant after much thought. Ending MTV awards with a powerhouse performance I'm sure, will be fresh in the audience mind and Roar will even soar higher. :)

Since the show's on a Sunday, most of the sales benefit probably will spill into the next week, as only an hour or so of sales will remain after the performance (if the show ends at 11 p.m.). Though if viewers run right to iTunes, it still could get a nice boost for that hour. :)

Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but I can't shake the awful thought I that keeps coming up in my mind: what if she dies during the stunt? If she's jumping off the bridge on a boat or something, what if she misses, lands in the water, and drowns? Or what if one of the people organizing the stunt is a Gaga or Sara fan and cuts her parachute so that it doesn't deploy? So much about this performance could go wrong, and they all keep popping up in my head even if their chances are next to nothing...

Will she have a lion on stage? I really hope so!! That would make her performance interesting

That's a PR and record label fantasy imagine the record sales? A dead pop singer is highly marketable!

Really though? lol I know, the chances are one in a billion (the second scenario one in a trillion), but I know that landing on a small platform (especially to an unexperienced base-jumper) is extremely difficult, and if it's over a bridge and water, if she overshoots or undershoots, she's in the water.

To my knowledge Sara does not have the nutjobs in her fanbase. If a psycho stan was ever going to ATTEMPT to get anywhere near Katy for a sabotage mission it would be a little monster. But they would have security making sure nothing happens, so I don't think anything like that could actually occur.

So much about this performance could go wrong, and they all keep popping up in my head even if their chances are next to nothing... So my friend works at MTV and is pretty high up, and he shared some details from the VMA performance with me. Apparently it's costing them 2.6m to produce her performance...she's going to jump from the Brooklyn Bridge onto a boat in the East River and perform there, and there are going to be fireworks in the background. Don't Hold It Against Me /Britney if this info is wrong, but this is a friend of mine who I know personally and is usually right about this stuff. or 20 bucks says a Monster tries to cut Katy's line before she jumps :x But no seriously, that sounds like an epic performance. Oh Mary Joseph Jesus, please let this happen. Her performances aren't always the best, but I could see this coming off really well. Sis now I know you did not just copy what I said? I expected better from you. That's some brave shit right there.

I'm more worried about the tiger eating her on live television. Cause you know that bitch will have a tiger.

Judging by the reception to "Roar," I don't think she has to worry about commercially misstepping.
A lion roars, though. The lyrics also mention that she's "got the eye of the tiger," so maybe there will be both.

I wonder if Katy can sell 400+ next week and the week after which would be a record, no?

I can't believe even over a week later, Roar is outselling Blurred Lines 2/1. Plus next Sunday, she will likely have the biggest performance of her career. She is on such a high right now. I don't think anyone can touch her right now. The hype is just too high.

I know I'm going crazy by thinking this, but this little detail just hit me.
Thriller was Michael's HUGE album before Bad. While Thriller trumps Bad today, Bad was the one with the records. Could Prism be Katy's Bad and Teenage Dream be Katy's Thriller?

64 more adds brings this to 165 total pop adds (out of 172 on the panel).

I don't think anyone can touch her right now. The hype is just too high. I actually think the bigger threat is Wake Me Up more than BL at this point. Seems BL was #1 for so long due to lack of any significant competition and just kept floating at #1 until a song from big named artist (that clicked with the public came along) Was only a matter of time 'cause on almost every worldwide iTunes chart its been falling for weeks. In the States there was simply nothing new or noteworthy released that was big enough to take over #1. Its really going to be hard imo (in the digital age) for a song to stay at #1 much longer than Blurred Lines. If Blurred Lines w/ its record airplay and massive sales can't surpass One Sweet Day (or even possibly come close), I dunno how any song will- simply due to the major chart formula changes this year :/. BL basically just happened to peak right at the same time Roar zoomed up to #1. Since then, its been like a balloon that popped and hasnt been able to fill up with air again. Obviously, if it wasnt for Roar, he'd still be #1 but only by a little bit and prob. not for much longer (again due to Avicii) and/or 'something' else in the next few weeks.

Don't let that fool you, though. BL was still a massive hit. It broke airplay records left and right and also broke sales records.

Sad to see the American GP encouraging Katy to stick to the same primitive style as Teenage Dream. I guess people do enjoy a cliché-ridden self-help nonsense that Roar is. I hope the rest of Prism is better tbh. She has a potential (as evidence in One of the Boys). Roar is just too basic.

Just wish she had a truly iconic song to go with her career high.

Could Prism be Katy's Bad and Teenage Dream be Katy's Thriller? Well not on a cultural scale, NO! Of course not. Maybe chart-wise tho. I haven't seen any mistakes yet from Capitol. They are > Interscope imo.

Interesting. Maybe? I mean, it wouldn't be that hard to top Teenage Dream quality-wise, though. I expect this album to be better than that if she's going to be more than a singles artist. TD was a solid pop collection with a brilliant title track and some catchy singles, but it's no Thriller (/Bad), Purple Rain, Rhythm Nation, Like A Prayer, Spice, Fever, FutureSex/LoveSounds, Blackout(/In The Zone), etc. I think I'd even rank L.A.M.B. above it.

LOL @ ITZ/Blackout/FSLS being ranked with the others. Sit down before you hurt you're self.
Teenage Dream was a perfect pop album. It did its job. When Katy get's old and wrinkly she can become some serious folk artist or something.
It sucks that it looks like Blurred Lines will keep it from #1 this week, but the fact that it's even close with BL being as massive as it is, makes me happy/excited. And it's only just beginning.

I say - to a couple of those albums, but obviously agree to the likes of Like a Prayer, Bad, etc. However, Teenage Dream is no slouch. I think it's above JT's album and I think it's above Breakaway. I mean...single success aside, you have to give a nod to the video collection, which I don't honestly think JT and Kelly had a 1-up on her. Chartwise yea for sure, but all-encompassing....no. Not even Taylor can beat her in that regards. The Fame maybe. The Fame Monster was only 3 songs (compared to 8). I say Breakaway is the ultimate closest, and that's a very big compliment towards Kelly.
