I say with projected sales at 525,000 and her high radio audience this should hit # 1. If it doesn't it will next week. This will make her 8th consecutive #1 on hot 100 ?? It's not going to be #1 next week. Sales will be down and streaming will probably be down some too, due to YT views going down. On-demand streaming will probably be up, but overall streaming down.

Roar will peak at #2 on the Hot 100. Blurred Lines will block it until Wake Me Up takes over.

If it doesn't make it this week I think its only other chance would be the week the vid premiers. It will lose a lot of its sales advantage on BL after this week, and without that it really doesn't stand a chance against the airplay and sales of BL.

This is bound to have massive airplay in the long run, it is Katy Perry for heaven's sake. You act like the airplay and sales for "Blurred Lines" won't drop ever, which they will, and if anything this week has proven is that "Roar" stands to be a force to be reckoned with digitally. Eventually, the cards will fall in Katy's favor for the #1 spot.

Hmmm...let's see we have a VMA performance, a music video, album promo all coming up shortly. The song is already sitting comfortably at number one, and there is a lot more exposure yet to come.

I think it will blow up soon on iTunes. Already is #3.

8/10: 553 (Leak day) 8/11: 1286 (CC Deal) 8/12: 840 8/13: 741 8/14: 799 8/15: 936 8/16: 943 8/17: 1030 8/18: 963 8/19: 207 + 840 = 1047
Her highest daily spin total outside of the CC deal, she should get an even larger update tomorrow!
Also: What's up with that negative update? +200 spins and an over 1m negative update?

Less airplay from the bigger stations, presumably. Those can make a big difference when their airplay levels drop, and they'd still be coming off the elevated hype-premiere period of the first few days.

Considering:
Day 3: 13.113M Day 10: -1.543M
That's a pretty fantastic update then. Normally it would've been almost a 12M update! :o

the 2nd single has already been chosen. Bonnie confirmed it. It may be a countdown single.

There is no way her team would release a second single sept 17 while roar still slaying the the charts.

There is no way her team would release a second single sept 17 while roar still slaying the the charts. They would if the album was releasing September 23/24. Well, as a *countdown* single, not as a proper 2nd single, no. (I misread your post the first time lol sorry)

Unless they're taking a different approach with the album. I think having more than one song out pre-album is better for album sales so if they're prioritizing the album over the single and capitalizing on the success of Roar, they might send out a second single then.

Still maintaining a pretty sizable lead on iTunes. We're hearing her roar, indeed.

I think it's a good strategy to release a second single before the album release. Roar is rising fast so probably will peak at that time. Maybe she already has a contract signed with Pepsi and the album and the single will have a good promo. I have no doubts she will smash with the second single.

KATY TO CLOSE THE VMA'SStarting today (Tuesday), fans who tweet #KATYNOW can unlock clues detailing two of the album’s tracks, including song titles, lyrics and video messages from Katy herself with additional surprises. Once the clues have been unlocked, Pepsi and MTV will stream samples of the two new songs on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Pepsi.MTV.com, where fans can then vote on which one they want to be released early by tweeting custom hashtags for their favorite track. The winning song will be announced Sunday night (Aug. 25), when Perry performs “Roar” at the close of the VMAs from an undisclosed location in Brooklyn to complement this year’s location at Barclays Center. The track will be released commercially Tuesday, Sept. 17. Additionally, Pepsi will give away downloads of “Roar” to any fan who registers for its Pepsi Experience Points rewards program. www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/branding/5657804/katy-perry-teams-with-pepsi-mtv-to-debut-new-prism-song
