launch.yahoo.com/read/news/14310832Tentative release date is May 17th. Based on its theme, this song, "Honky Tonk U" looks like it should break Toby's streak of underperforming singles.

Yuck. I wish he would just go away. I can't stand the man.

I think Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw are all way overexposed now. Unfortunately, it looks like none of them are taking any time off in the next year. :(

I wouldn't say that Tim, Toby & Kenny are overexposed, but the consolidation spree which has taken place over the past several years, cmbined with the format's return to more traiditonal sounding music, has made the format more conservative than usual.
There just aren't many PDs out there who can take the risk and stick their necks out by playing a new single by a new artist, even with several singles by new artists (defined here as four years or less since their first release) on R&Rs top 20.
PDs have gotten SO scared by the excessive micromanagement and overuse of research and consultants that if it comes down to playing a new single by a new artist or play a power recurrent by Tim, Toby, Kenny, Alan, George, B&D, MM, ST, GB or another format staple they'll chose the safest approach, and do the latter.
That's not good for the listener under any circumstances
