The first major review I've seen...Here's Billboard's review..... LEE ANN WOMACK Album Title: There's More Where That Came From Producer(s): Byron Gallimore Label/Catalog Number: MCA B0003073 Release Date: Jan. 25 Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: February 05, 2005 Hallelujah. One of country music's great singers is singing country again—bona fide lovin', cryin' and cheatin' songs. From the "classic" MCA label logo to Byron Gallimore's production to the CD cover, Lee Ann Womack's latest has a retro feel. Teamed with her classic country sound, that's a very good thing. The title cut, with its weeping fiddle and soaring performance from Womack, is an instant entry into the country lexicon, as is leadoff single "I May Hate Myself in the Morning." Womack evokes George Jones on the killer "One's a Couple" and tender, world-weary "Twenty Years and Two Husbands Ago." Other gems include the insistent midtempo "He Oughta Know That by Now" and the more contemporary "When You Get to Me." The album's closer, "Stubborn (Psalm 151)" is an introspective titan penned by Don Schlitz and Brett James. Consider this an early contender for best country album of the year.—RW The buzz is getting deafening on this record...I just hope "IMHMITM" doesn't putter out before it reaches the Top Ten...

This is a very interesting article about Lee Ann's recording process for this album.
NASHVILLE (Billboard) - After a three-year break between albums, Lee Ann Womack is back with a new set that has Music Row buzzing.
Returning full circle to her country roots, "There's More Where That Came From" (due Feb. 8 from MCA Nashville) showcases the Texas-born singer serving up a collection of tunes reminiscent of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette.
In fact, those icons helped shape Womack's vision for the new record. "In my office I have these framed album covers (of) Loretta, Tammy, Dolly, Connie Smith (and) Jessi Colter all hanging on my wall," Womack says.
She will be able to add her own framed album to her collection as MCA is issuing the set on vinyl as well as CD, and the cover has a very retro look.
But most important, the music could take its place alongside any of country music's timeless classics. It finds Womack wrapping her sweet, buttery vocals around a strong collection of songs penned by Don Schlitz, Brett James, Sonny Throckmorton and Kostas, among others.
She debuted the album's songs in front of an industry crowd Jan. 20 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium to an enthusiastic response.
CAUGHT IN THE TURMOIL
Womack admits to being a little frustrated with the music business prior to recording this album. "I just didn't know really what to do. I didn't know what direction to go," she says.
"At the time there was a lot of label turmoil," says Womack, who started her career on the now-defunct Decca label. "They kept downsizing and regrouping, so I didn't know what would happen to a record if I did turn one in, because every time I've turned in a record, the label has shut down. So, I just decided to lay low."
Womack's self-titled debut on Decca peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and was certified platinum for U.S. shipments in excess of one million copies. Her sophomore effort, "Some Things I Know," arrived while Decca was closing and some of its roster -- including Womack -- was being folded into MCA. It peaked at No. 20 and was certified gold (shipments in excess of 500,000).
Womack's third album, "I Hope You Dance," was a huge success, selling 2.6 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. But the follow-up, "Something Worth Leaving Behind," came out as MCA and Mercury were being merged into Universal Music Group Nashville and sold only 287,000 units.
Womack says those situations taught her to go with the flow and wait for her next opportunity. She began working on the new album when her husband, producer Frank Liddell, gave her a song that spurred her creative juices.
"Frank brought home 'I May Hate Myself in the Morning.' It was almost like the song said, 'Just go with me, this is the direction we need to go,"' she says of tune, which became the album's first single. It is currently No. 15 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
A BLESSING AND A CURSE
Womack says the success of "I Hope You Dance" was "a double-edged sword . . . If you sell millions of records, the label wants and expects you to come back and do it again. So there is pressure."
She admits that pressure caused her to really overthink that massive hit's follow-up album. "I thought so much, harder than I've ever worked before on a record on 'Something Worth Leaving Behind,' and it just didn't work," Womack says. "I promised myself with this record I wouldn't think at all. I would just totally follow my heart and not my head."
Byron Gallimore produced "There's More Where That Came From" (except for one cut by Greg Droman). The album features the kind of traditional country Womack grew up listening to in Texas. She even includes a bonus track, "Just Someone I Used to Know," that was previously cut by Parton and Porter Wagoner and by George Jones.
One of the most talked-about cuts is "Stubborn (Psalm 151)," penned by James and Schlitz. When she began listening to the demo, Womack says, "by the middle of it, I was just beside myself. I thought this was the best song I've ever heard." She says other artists also wanted to cut it and a "Music Row tug of war" ensued, with Womack emerging as the victor.

At least she's honest and admits that she had no clue where she wanted to go. That pretty much clears up why "Something Worth Leaving Behind" was such a disappointment.
Hopefully she's back on track.

I still say and think she's a traitor. Anyone that sings background and Murder on Music Row, talks about how she will never go pop, and does just that, is someone I have no respect for whatsoever.
Too bad radio had to pick up on her new single because I liked the direction her career was heading after her Something Worth Leaving Behind album better

But if you listen to the SWLB album, it is mostly country. Just unplayable, radio un-friendly country.

If you are responding to me, you are missing my point. Murder on Music Row was out b4 IHYD and when she sang harmony on MOMM, she said she would never crossover, and next thing ya know, she did. That's when I lost all respect for her. I could care less about the Something Worth Leaving Behind album, but then again, judging from sales of that one, no one else cared either.
And the label mergers and closings had nothing to do with her decline in sales.

She has definitely returned to her country roots with this new and downright STUNNING CD; 'Twenty Years And Two Husbands Ago' is an exceptional song.
Nice to have her back on the radio.
Her forthcoming duet with George Strait will undoubtedly be VERY much anticipated.

I picked this album up yesterday and absolutely love it. She sounds better than ever. Jason Sellars and Lee Ann sound great together. Too bad they couldn't stay married. I find it odd that Byron Gallimore produced this album after listening to Tim McGraw and Joo Dee Messina albums. I know that producers do it all but this is really a depature for him. Imagine if this album would have been released before Something Worth Leaving Behind. WOW how huge it would have been. Not saying it won't do well now but I feel it would have been REALLY huge.

Ya, it is too bad Jason and her couldn't stay married. I think that he was one of the best vocalists to come out of Nashville and it's a pity that he wasn't recognized and given the airplay he really deserved. I wish he would come out with new material.

Can't Help Calling Your Name is a GEM of a song.
Also was neat to see that Jamie O'Neal sung background on A Matter of Time before she busted out on the scene.

I'm listening to Shawn Parr on KZLA right now, and he's just stated his opinion that Ms. Womack figures to get several nominations when the ACM nominees are announced next month.
He likes her chances for album of the year, female vocalist of the year, record and song of the year.
I'm inclined to agree with him, especially as competition for Tim McGraw for album of the year.

I know this dosen't fit but since it was brought up here I didn't want to start another thread.
MAGIC MUSTANG MUSIC SIGNS JASON SELLERS Jason Sellers has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Magic Mustang Music. “Today we have added to our writer roster one of the best I know,” says Larry Shell, VP Magic Mustang Music. “He writes, he plays, he sings and he does them all fantastically.” "Jason and I have been working successfully together for quite a few years,” adds Juli Newton, Creative Director, Magic Mustang Music. “I am honored to continue this relationship!" Sellers’ personal career in the music industry began to take off. In 1997, Jason was signed to RCA where he recorded two albums: I’m Your Man and A Matter of Time. While working on his own singing career, he found time to write songs for the likes of John Michael Montgomery, Lee Ann Womack, Lonestar, Ricky Skaggs, Pam Tillis, Jessica Andrews to name a few. Sellers has lent his voice to numerous artists’ albums including Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack, Pam Tillis and John Michael Montgomery. Jason wrote and recorded a song that was featured in a Coca-Cola radio commercial. Most recently, Jason has had songs recorded by Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Montgomery Gentry, Brooks & Dunn, Jamie O’Neal, Tracy Lawrence and Mark Chesnutt just to name a few. Sellers also had a Top 3 single with “You Can’t Hide Beautiful” which was recorded by Aaron Lines. Sellers is the former husband of Lee Ann Womack and father to their daughter, Aubrey.

What do you guys think will be the next single since this one is done? I am hoping for One's A Couple. I think that's the best of the album.

She called Blair Garner last night on his 'After Midnite' show, shortly after her appearance on 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien', and she mentioned that the title of her forthcoming duet with George Strait is called 'Good Times', which was co-written by Dean Dillon.
Garner also informed her that Mark Chestnutt has been raving to EVERYBODY about how this CD marks Lee Ann's return to traditional country music, and he's absolutely correct.
I recall reading quite a few stories several years ago which essentially stated that if she continued to record traditional sounding country tunes, she'd have a HUGE career.
The two songs most frequently cited both hit #1--'The Fool' & 'A Little Past Little Rock'.
This new CD is LOADED with similar masterpieces---awesome!!!!

The CD debuted at #3 on the Top Country Albums chart this week. This now Country Vol.4 CD debuted at #1, pushing Kenny Chesney's CD to #2. I'm not sure where her CD debuted at on the Billboard 200.

I think that this is the first serious contender for album of the year released in 2005. It's easily my favorite of Lee Ann's.
Though IMHMITM was losing a lot of spins earlier this week, it seems to be rebounding, as it's only -9 right now. Top 10 is still a possibilty, though she'll have to wait now that Kenny, B&D, MG and even Jo Dee look to make it before Lee Ann does.
As for the next single, I'd go with "When You Get To Me", though you can't really lose with this CD. I'd also like to see "Twenty Years And Two Husbands Ago" released (that's my favorite from the album), along with "One's A Couple", "Happiness" and the title track.
EDIT: IMHMITM's bullet is back, at +5.

So who were the other artists in the tug of war (for Stubborn)?

oooh..stubborn is one of my major favorites on the album..my favorite song writer wrote it...brett james :) as far as i know, leeann was the only artists who was going to cut it...i was able to talk to brett in june, and he mentioned having a "few" cuts on leeanns cd!-- if you get your cd at best buy stores, there is a bonus track.."i'll be your whiskey", which brett also wrote.--so, as of this past june, brett was certain leeann had it :)
