Absolutley TERRIBLE!!! This is bubble-gum music. This makes Shania sound traditional like Loretta. :o IF you think Shania is poppy, wow, this is horrible! Down right nasty! I expected a great COUNTRY record from Deana after the flop of her last record. If you listen to this, you have been warned...

Agreed. I even like(d) Deana Carter... but this isn't pleasant to my ears at all. :(

Why can't she make good music anymore? Did I Shave My Legs For This? must be the biggest fluke ever.

I'm agreeing with all that this is a HORRIBLE album. However, it's not close to being Shania pop. It's bad, but not as bad as she could make it IMO.

I don't think this CD is awful, but it isn't that good either. I hate to say it, but I agree that DISMLFT looks to have been a huge fluke. I like the first song on this new CD (something about being "the girl you left me for"), but it's not going to be a hit at country radio.

I'm starting to understand why she had such a hard time getting that debut album released in the first place. She probably kept wanting to make music like this, and the label smartly wasn't having it.

She probably kept wanting to make music like this, and the label smartly wasn't having it. That's probably what happened. Then, when it was a hit and she got more creative control, she released EGBA, which was a huge departure from DISMLFT and was probably more like the type of music she wanted to make. Also, she didn't produce her debut, but she's at least co-produced everything since.

This is weird - the song that AllAccess calls "One Day At A Time" is really "The Girl You Left Me For". I wonder which one will be the single.

I just had a listen to "The Girl You Left Me For", and I actually kind of liked it. It's got quite a catchy chorus, though I really don't think this could be called country at all. Alternative pop/rock, maybe, but not country. I've liked most of Deana's stuff up until this point; I even really enjoyed the "Just A Girl" album, (was I the only one???), and I'm curious to hear the rest of this one. She definitely deserves another shot at the charts; for hanging in there this long! Ann-Marita. www.annmarita.com

It's catchy but synthetic. It completely lacks the knowing, intelligent vocals (and lyrics) of Strawberry Wine and How Do I Get There. No offense intended to anyone who likes the new song, but I never can understand why an artist who is capable of singing something thoughtful and full of real emotion switches over to choosing material that's completely insubstantial. She has to know the difference.
The first time I heard Strawberry Wine I was moved. The first time I heard this might as well be the last.

Time and time again Deana Carter seems to amaze me by how crappy her music is. I really feel sorry for her because she's obviously lost her hearing. I use to be the biggest Deana Carter fan with Did I shave my legs for this but I've hated everything else except for "There's no Limit" which I could have told her that it was not gonna be a hit. I know we can't expect to keep making the same songs she did with the first cd but she's totally abandoned the music that suits her the best.

Yeah it's bad. She just needs to go away at this point. All of these awful follow ups are tarnishing my view of the debut album.

The album debuts at Number 150 on the Billboard 200.
