His voice did not age in 25 years. What a tremendous talent.

This was a posthumous hit from his late 1980's renaissance, this hit #9 Hot 100, #1 AC, #7 Country You missed one. Also reached #2 Album Rock (Mainstream Rock). Who can name another single that went Top 10 on as many as four formats during the 80s (given that the Hot 100 was effectively only a Pop chart at the time)? Suffice it to say that this would easily have fared better than #9 on the Hot 100 under a more modern methodology. Definitely a worthy song to have had this happen, in any case. First song I ever heard from him...... in a commercial that aired for many years, unfortunately
That kind of permanently ruined this song for me but objectively I can't deny that's one of his best.
