BOBBY PINSON Don't Ask Me How I Know Producer(s): Joe Scaife, Bobby Pinson Writer(s): B. Pinson, B. Butler, B. Jones Publisher(s): Mosaic Music; Bobby's Song and Salvage; Bill Butler Music (BMI); JonesBone Music (ASCAP) Genre: COUNTRY Label/Catalog Number: RCA 82876-68167 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: February 26, 2005
Newcomer Bobby Pinson and co-writers Bart Butler and Brett Jones pack a lot of heartfelt, poignant wisdom into less than four minutes on this immensely listenable single. But lest one think they are in for a mushy treatise on how to live life, this isn't one of those records. It's a lot more personal and earthy. Pinson's gritty, weathered vocals infuse the lyric with a straight-ahead honesty; it feels like he has lived every word. When he sings lines like "Don't lose the girl you love at home for a night in Panama City/Don't rush off the phone when your momma calls/You ain't that busy," you know this Texan is speaking from experience. And doesn't real life spawn the best country songs? This catchy tune is filled with plenty of memorable lines and gives Pinson a vehicle for an impressive debut that radio and its listeners will certainly embrace.—DEP

This is largely due to KPLX in Dallas spinning the heck out of this song, contributing about a third of it's 3.6 million audience total, and making that station's Top Ten. The same station has attempted to jump start a new single by the Randy Rogers Band in a similiar manner without much success. KPLX is giving their song about a million in audience too, out of 1.7 million total, but its lost a few positions this week anyway.

KTYS in Dallas has spun Texas native Bobby Pinson's single 98 times in the last week. :o He's getting saturation airplay in Dallas. 51 spins at KPLX, and 30 at KSCS... Let's see, that's about 180 spins or so for that area. Wow. His song has done well nationally, too. He's #14 on R&R and #16 on Billboard.

Does Texas generally support their native major label country artists this way? If they do, it's a huge break to be from Texas. Lucky for Texas artists!
