This week, Robin Thicke and friends make one of the fastest moves to number one in years as "Blurred Lines" takes over the top spot in just 6 weeks. This basically eliminates any chance for Imagine Dragons taking over the top spot with "Radioactive".
For the fifth week in a row, we have a debut at #40, Justin Timberlake has the only new entry this week with the latest song this summer that proves disco is making a comeback...at least for a couple of months. He debuts at #40 this week with "Take Back The Night".
More contemporary sounding dance continues to do well this summer as Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding have this week's Sure Shot, "I Need Your Love". Zedd, Icona Pop, and Capital Cities also fit that category with their songs on the countdown as well. But there is balance with some Modern AC leaning hits by Imagine Dragons, Paramore, Serena Ryder and Sara Bareilles amongst other artists, proving that the Hot AC format is continuing to show great balance as it has over the past couple of years.
Finally, we are on Katy Perry watch as we await just how high her latest hit, the appropriately titled "Roar" will debut on Rick's chart in the coming weeks. A top 15 to 20 debut would not be a surprise at all considering how much airplay this song has received in just one week.
