7 weeks at the top for Pink. Despite a comfortable lead, Phillip Phillips is moving up quickly as he jumps 4-2 this week. A good (or bad) week from Delilah could change things. Meanwhile, there are no bullets between #3 and #7, but The Lumineers take advantage of Maroon 5's decrease and sneak back into the top 5.
Anna Kendrick has her first top 10 hit as her "Pitch Perfect" remix of "Cups" moves 12-10 this week. This song has had slow life at top 40, but AC is getting the hang of this rather quickly.
The top song of the summer "Blurred Lines" is making its mark on AC. Robin Thick makes another move climbing 22-18 this week giving the son of Jason Seaver his first top 20 hit.
Josh Groban has another top 20 hit on his hands as his rendition of "I Believe (When I fall... whatever)" moves 21-20. This is Josh's 14th top 20 hit. His last top 20 was "Brave" which spent 5 weeks at #13 beginning in March.
Capital Cities have been buzzed about for quite awhile, and this week they make their debut on the AC chart. The pop hit "Safe & Sound" is the highest of 3 debuts this week at #25. The song was originally released 2 years ago, but went nowhere on the charts. The song was given a second life earlier this year in Germany when it went to #1 after being used in a commercial for Vodafone, and was also featured as a "NOW What's Next" track on NOW 45. The song has also hit #1 on the Alternative chart.
Next up is a guy I have met twice, Gavin DeGraw. Debuting at #28 is "Best I Ever Had," the lead single from his upcoming 5th album. This is Gavin's 3rd AC hit. His last hit was "Not Over You" which peaked at #7 for 5 weeks back in March 2012.
Finally, another legendary returns to the chart. Welcome back Earth, Wind & Fire! The multi-member group was most popular in the 70s and early 80s with dance smashes like "September," "Boogie Wonderland," "Let's Groove," and others. This week, "My Promise" enters the chart at #30. Despite being a staple on AC stations today, this is only their 4th AC hit. Their last hit on the chart was "Pure Gold" which peaked at #23 back in September of 2005.
Pink and Imagine Dragons go recurrent this week. Pink's "Try" leaves the chart after a 31 week run, making this the shortest run for a non-Christmas #1 song since the Dixie Chicks lasted 26 weeks back in 2003 with "Landslide." The recurrents result in new peaks for Bruno Mars ("Treasure"), Josh Groban, Train, Eric Clapton, Selena Gomez & Cher.
