I see that one station has added this song. That's not much to go on, but I'm really hoping this one is his next release. Anybody have any information? If no information, then opinions of the song are good too.

This should have been the second single. I think the only reason why it wasn't is so they can release it to AC radio as well now that "You'll Think Of Me" is finally losing spins there.
I really like ths song and see no reason why it shouldn't go to #1 if released.

I love this song. This is one of my favorite ballads in years (Written by Rodney Crowell for his wife). I hope it's the next single.

Best song on the album....I think radio is gonna eat this one up.
I'm really hoping they release "Country Comfort" next...followed by "GOD's Been Good To Me"

This will be a good single. Not much Keith Urban does that I don't like though. He's one of the most talented guys out there. :)

I think this will do OK at radio, and something's telling me that there won't be anymore singles after this one, but who knows?

I think there will be at least five singles from this album. Nobody Drinks Alone will defintely be a single and I also think that Better Life and She's Gotta Be will be released also. There was a mistake in recording Country Comfort. They left out a verse. I read where Keith appologized to Elton John for the ommision of the verse so I doubt they will release it. I think if this song hits the top ten at a time like Bless the Broken Road did it will be at least a 5 week number one.

I do appreciate the update regarding the release status of this song. I'm a Rodney Crowell fan, not a Keith Urban one, which means I have to hope that other artists will record and release his music. The days of Rodney Crowell hitting the top 10 are... never coming back. But as a writer, he has few equals.
Rodney's own version of MMOU (with Vince Gill) was very good, and I haven't even heard Keith's yet. Looking forward to that.

Keith is one of the few artists who continues to put out music that I enjoy. "My Better Half" almost broke that streak, but I learned to kind of like it. I haven't heard this song yet, but I also enjoy Rodney Crowell's music, so this should be good!

This song is pretty good. It is sure to keep his Top five streak going on strong. This could be his tenth top 5 hit, if it makes it.

I heard this yesterday, and it is sensational; I don't see why it won't hit #1.
Nice to know that Rodney Crowell wrote this; his version of 'Please Remember Me' was certainly the equal of Tim McGraw's cover version.

Very generous comment, considering how much you enjoy Tim's music. I've always thought he did a terrific job on that one, as he does on his current song. Tim also has a Crowell song on the LLYWD album, and I'm hoping he releases that next. Country radio 2005: all Rodney, all the time. I can see MMOU climbing 38-30, maybe only to 31, on Billboard next week (first chart of April). He should be next in line for #1 after Dierks Bentley.

Week ending 3/18/2005: It debuted at #43. Would someone explain how, if this song is going for adds on March 21st, how it could debut at #43 on March 18th? I don't understand the process. Thanks!

Because the single is shipped to radio up to 3 weeks before the official add. The stations start playing it, and it debuts. I call it the 'unofficial debut', though, and count the chart position after the add date. :)

PDs are also free to jump on a single before its 'going for adds date', especially those who went very early on 'You're My Better Half'.
Considering how hot he is, and that he appears to be a lock to finish in the top 5 among the year's top singles artists (while Chesney & McGraw duke it out for #1), I see no downside for stations to add this song before it goes for adds.
Zazie--thanks for the compliments; it's nice to see you on this board and reading your VERY insightful comments on this board since the R&R board went away.
Crowell is certainly an extraordinary songwriter and vocalist, and after watching both Randy Travis and Traqcy Lawrence return to country radio in a big way over the past two years (can't forget Lee Ann Womack or LeAnn Rimes either), it would be nice to have Crowell's voice back on the radio as well.

Not going to happen with his new political album and ad-hominem attacks against President Bush. This song is another sappy song from a weak vocalist.

I think Crowell is a sh***y vocalist, but a great songwriter. He should stick to what he does best and keep churning out hits for Tim, Keith, etc.

Crowell's in his mid-50's, so probably not as good technically as he used to be. But on a song like Rock of My Soul, he sings as well as anybody because he knows how to express emotion in an understated way. Same for Earthbound or I Walk the Line (Revisited).
However well he sings, I don't expect him to get radio airplay. If Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson don't, why would Crowell? Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Clint Black -- they aren't in the mainstream either. That country radio has a narrow band of acceptable musicians is a fact of life. George and Reba are the token older artists, and that won't change. Crowell could attack President Bush or sing his praises, and it wouldn't mean a thing.
As a songwriter, his work stands up to anybody's, and that's good enough for me.

Thanks, Dustin, and others who post these links. When I try to play songs on the AllAccess site, either my player or the computer itself generally crashes.
Now I've finally heard Urban's interpretation of this song, and I see why it's climbing the charts. I like the Cherry Bombs version better, but this will be nice to hear on the radio for five months or so.

I finally heard this, and I like it. Not my favorite of Keith's but I would mind hearing all the time and seeing it go #1.

I have nothing POSitive to say about my very old machine. But, thanks to the links being provided, I now have no excuse not to listen to Cowboy Troy. It's just a matter of time.
