Never heard of this chick before, but she's on WB.
Vocalwise, she reminds me of Tammy Graham.
Nothing that radio is gonna grab on to, but its on AllAccess's website.

Really good voice! And not a bad song, either, although you're right, radio isn't going to play this one. Thanks for steering me to it, because how else would I have gotten to hear it?

Lauren Lucas (in her 20's) has appeared on the Grand Ol' Opry at the age of 11. She was nominated for a TONY award for her contribution to the score of the Broadway version of "Urban Cowboy".
She calls her singing "Country With Deep Southern Soul".

She calls her singing "Country With Deep Southern Soul". She's WAY off then because that title already belongs to the outstanding talent of Julie Roberts.

I really like it. Great song... sounds like something that Wynonna would sing.

I really like it. Great song... sounds like something that Wynonna would sing. I agree, and her voice has the timbre of Wynonna's voice. I have a bad feeling that is a guarantee of failure right now -- the Jenkins' sound is similar, with added harmonies, and their two outstanding songs couldn't crack the top 30. Maybe this sounds dated to radio? It sounds fine to me. This wouldn't be the greatest time for a male artist to sound like Dwight Yoakam, either. Immediate grounds for radio rejection.

On CMT Insider today, there was a segment that included Lauren Lucas. Something about the newest acts. It should be on again over the weekend. Enjoyed hearing and seeing her.

Has anyone heard this on radio? Is it out yet? On the R&R panel stations, about 371,000 people have heard the song on the radio during the last 7 days, and I am not one of them. It's #65 on that panel as of Saturday night, and I believe its official release isn't until Monday 3/21. I'm not expecting a great chart run. But I sure do like the song.

Would you explain your thoughts? Is 371,000 not good, or #65? The R&R panel stations, how many are there? Since the release is tomorrow, I'll give the station a call and request it. I'd like to hear it. Thanks!

I'd like to hear it. Thanks! I believe there are 116 stations on the panel. I don't mean to say having that many people hear your music is bad -- I'll never have 50 people, let alone 370k, listening to me. But right now you'd need 1.3 million impressions, or thereabouts, to be competing for #50 on the R&R chart. Billboard's got a 60-position chart, so .7 million might do it there, or even a bit less. And Lauren's got a ways to go. She's up past .4 million now, so she's going the right direction; and maybe people will like her song. I certainly do, but then the music I like is not necessarily going to do well at radio. Sometimes yes, often no. I think we'll know whether this song will chart, and have a chance to be a hit, within 2 weeks. If it hasn't happened by then, chances are it will be abandoned.

I think she has a great voice but I think there is no way this type of song will break the top 20. It seems to be original which is good but a little to blah to be a big hit.

Maybe something good's going to happen -- as of Saturday morning it looks safe to say this song will debut on the 4/16 Billboard chart. It's well over 1 million impressions and, if a few songs drop off soon, this will be in the top 50 soon enough.
It's a long way from there to the 4 million impressions she'll need to reach the top 40, not to mention other heights. But as I was expecting nothing at all, this seems good to me.

The song has debuted on the Billboard chart at #52 for the chart dated 4/16. Its audience is a little over a million. #40 has just under 3 million, so there is a way to go, but she has time to build an audience. Right now I feel optimistic.

I liked a lot of the songs on there! Thanks. I went to www.laurenlucas.com and listened to her commentary and snippets of each song. I think I liked The Carolina Kind, My Mistake To Make and Addicted To The Rain the best. But the Arkansas song is really good, too. Oh yeah, I liked Train Without A Whistle a lot, too. I read she is going to be on the Grand Ole Opry April 29th.

The May 9th Country Weekly features her in the "Who's New" section. She had a Tony nomination for a song she wrote for the stage version of Urban Cowboy. She looks young to have achieved this. Take a look. The photo is a close up of her face. Lauren has amazing eyes & lips and beautiful hair.
