With three X-factor songs above it, Dark Horse only needs to pass Marry Me and wait for them to fall below it to get into the top 10 (at least until the Voice finale)

Wow at the digital performance over the past few days -- just primarily due to radio jumping aboard. This could very well contend for a 300K+ during Christmas week.

It just needs to get past one more song, and then the obvious Alex and Sierra. A little ways to go!

It's almost comical to watch how effortlessly this is smashing when compared to the last single

This song could prob hit #1 without even a video This would be her fifth* to do so: California Gurls E.T. Part of Me* Roar Dark Horse?*Obviously, PoM was sent to #1 based on the Grammy-fueled downloads alone (which, I might add, was an exciting time to watch her climb above Whitney and Adele)

Sorry, I should've quoted someone talking about iTunes. That's what I was referring to, the GP reaction :) We were celebrating when UC hit #13 on iTunes, while DH has already reached it without any sort of promotion besides increasing spins

I like Unconditionally, but honestly the only reason it smashed so hard from the start was because of her label, and not because the general public liked it. During the release week, they had it everywhere, and for a few weeks it did ok, but then kinda fizzled out. I'm still kinda surprised that Dark Horse could end up being the biggest hit off of the album!

Yaaas @ this working overtime to make us all forgive and forget the Conditional tragedy (it's the season). This could get a huge gift-card surge. And stay on top for a while. *Obviously, PoM was sent to #1 based on the Grammy-fueled downloads alone (which, I might add, was an exciting time to watch her climb above Whitney and Adele) Exciting, disheartening, tragic, whatever.

I'm not a huge fan of this song, but this is the absolute right move. FINALLY. I just want this to smash so that she can release Birthday and Legendary Lovers and let them smash as well. After Dark Horse, they could go a number of directions...
I think Katy had her own very specific view of how things were going to go, but then Dark Horse did a lot more than she was expecting. I understand her resistance to releasing a single that she doesn't want released, but at the same time it's the only move to make to stay on top.

(1) DAMNNNNNN (2) The assault on my ears (3) For those of you in denial re: the Mariah comparisons, the subtle shade with a hint of "please take me seriously": "I think [the contestants] are all very unique in their own way, but, um, I wonder if any of them play their own instruments, because that's always very helpful when figuring out your own artistry..."

She could make a super cool video for this song. I'm thinking it will be similar in feel to the "Wide Awake" video - that type of visual would work perfectly with this song.

Could she have made that performance any more boring? They could have at least attempted interesting choreography during the breakdowns...

I feel like Katy's team really dropped the ball on this eraby releasing promo singles. She had such a great formula with her last album. One song at a time. She could have released anything after Roar and there was no reason for her to oversaturate.

Yes at the streams for this! I think it was in the 900Ks last week on US Spotify (it was hovering in the 600-800Ks from album release up until recently). Now that radio is aboard, it will probably spike into the top 5 soon.
Roar peaked around 1.9 million weekly streams on Spotify back in September. DH has a chance of surpassing this number.
