" No longevity," the pressed said. " It will be forgotten," the haters said. " It's a quick lil single," the naysayers said. Did Katy NEIGH at the naysayers??? I'm here all night folks!

All this longevity stuff and sending to urban really has nothing to do with Dark Horse. I think it's all for the timing of Birthday.

Rhythmic Songs*** No. 1 (1 week)*** "Dark Horse" Katy Perry Featuring Juicy JKaty Perry collects her second Rhythmic Songs No. 1, as "Dark Horse" (featuring Juicy J) trots 2-1. She first ruled the ranking for four weeks in 2011 with "E.T." (featuring Kanye West). "Horse" crowns Pop Songs for a fith week and gallops 8-6 on Adult Pop Songs.Greatest Gainer No. 4 "Happy" Pharrell Williams Debut No. 31 "#SELFIE" The Chainsmokers Debut No. 35 "Headlights" Eminem Featuring Nate Ruess Debut No. 40 "Party Girls" Ludacris Featuring Wiz Khalifa, Jeremih & Cashmere Cat Wha wha wha......?? How did this pull that off on Billboard's chart? There must be some crazy differences between the two panels (Mediabase/BB). By comparison: This morning on MB she's still over 500 spins behind DIL...oop, but "Happy" just passed her. One thing I've noticed about the Mediabase chart is that pop and dance songs tend to be bit lower and hip hop songs tend to be a bit higher, than they should be, so I think the Mediabase panel consists of a higher proportion of urban-leaning stations and a lower proportion of pop-leaning stations than there are in reality.

So shouldn't that put DIL on top?

Completely @ both this and "Royals" making it onto urban when Eminem can't. Except with his most pop-leaning single to date of course

Completely @ both this and "Royals" making it onto urban when Eminem can't. Except with his most pop-leaning single to date of course I wasn't referring to "The Monster" specifically, but rather his entire discography in general. He's only had about a handful of songs make the top 50 on urban. I don't even think he has a top ten hit over there. Yet he's the most successful rapper of the past decade.

Yeah I knew what you meant, and I agree with you. I was trying to say that I find it really stupid that he can't even get Top 50 on Urban with songs like "Rap God", yet something like "The Monster" can go Top 20, and "Royals" and "Dark Horse" can chart as well.

no one said it about this song, but ive been saying it all along that Birthday will flop, I will be quoting all those who say it will smash. you can go ahead and quote me now. Birthday WILL smash. Birthday will do great on rhythmic radios. It's got such an old school R&B sound that's hot right now. So excited for katy to build on her gains in the R&B and rhythmic formats. Third rhythmic number one?

lol, Birthday will never get to #1 on Rhythmic. What the hell are you talking about? Maybe Top 20. However, I do see it performing better on HAC.

Roar which is way less R&B than "birthday" went to #6. I don't think it's that outrageous to think that "birthday" with an old school mariah sound could hit number one.

ugh Birthday sucks so bad. She sounds so bored on that song and I'm siding with the pessimistic chart performance side. THIS song on the other hand....still awesome.

Birthday will be another #1 for her. I can't wait for what will be the corniest video ever eventhough it'll be hard to top Dark Horse on that aspect.

I'm not really feeling #1 vibes from "Birthday" either. It just sounds kinda dated...especially after "Roar" and "Dark Horse." I think "This Is How We Do" would be the best choice for the next single, followed by "Legendary Lovers" and "Ghost"

Birthday is the right choice. Radio and the gp love the carefree, fun side of Katy.

'Dark Horse' was the last obvious single on the album so I'm checked out until next era unfortunately.

I think if "Birthday" becomes the next single, that could be a good thing because of the sudden retro-revival that we've been having since "Suit & Tie". Plus, it would be funny to see this go against "Calling All Hearts".

at a Katy Perry song being most added on Urban that neither qualifies as Hip-Hop, or R&B. As far as trap is concerned, it's about as trap as "IKYWT" was dubstep. Still impressive though. Maybe the feature really helped.

Wow, this is going to smash all over again. Is there a chance that Team will pass this on overall radio? at a Katy Perry song being most added on Urban that neither qualifies as Hip-Hop, or R&B. As far as trap is concerned, it's about as trap as "IKYWT" was dubstep. Still impressive though. Maybe the feature really helped. Juicy J isn't necessarily an Urban staple.

Wow, this is going to smash all over again. Is there a chance that Team will pass this on overall radio? 2. KATY PERRY – Dark Horse: 208.780 (+0.152) 3. LORDE – Team: 194.457 (+0.923) Its hard to say. My best guess is that Dark Horse will hang out above 200M AI in the coming weeks, with only small increases or decreases until it peaks on another format. I don't think Team will be able to top it.
