I got in car this morning and "This Cowboy's Hat" was playing during the morning show. I was happy to hear it until I thought, "Oh, I hope Chris didn't..." Lo and behold, the DJs repeated the sad news after the song played.
I have been a fan of his since "Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy" came out. I was 15 and it kick-started my cowboy love phase. I think his music and his legacy are incredible and I am very sad about the loss.
Another favorite song of mine was his remake of Jon Bon Jovi's "Bang a Drum." I also remember when he appeared on an award show (I think ACMs) after his transplant and tore it up, even doing a little rodeo riding to show he was back.
I hope it's an appropriate thread for here to remember this singer, his unique brand of 'rodeo rock,' and to ask for others' favorites.
Also, I am curious: What was his chart history like? Did he have any #1s?

On his All Music Guide Billboard singles chart history, "What'cha Gonna Do With A Coyboy?" is his only top ten with a Number 7 peak. It lists 18 singles by him.

RIP Chris. He fought hard to stay with us...
Some artists really can't be judged by their chart history. He charted on Billboard 23 times, reaching the top 40 only twice (Whatcha... did get to #7, and Cadillac Ranch to #18). He was a good musician and a good man, and he'll be missed.

I was away on a trip to Colorado (about 20 miles south of Wyoming) this past week. I got to meet a couple country fans while I was there and had to find out through them (the folks I went with weren't into Country music).
Chris LeDoux was just one of those guys who knew what he was doing and didn't just work to get on the chart. He had some great quality songs, including a couple favorites of mine: "Stampede" and a decent cover of "Life Is A Highway". I'll be praying for Chris's family, friends, and fans as well as Garth Brooks and his fans, seeing as Garth was a huge fan of Chris.
God Bless Chris LeDoux!!!!

Country Music has truly lost on of the most unique, talented, entertaining and just nice guys it will ever see. Chris LeDoux was an incredible person and never got the recognition he really deserved.
I got the chance to see him in concert and it was the best preformance I have ever seen. I know I will never see another entertainer like him again. I consider it a privlage to have seen him preform.
I encourage anyone who is not firmilar with his music to go out and buy one of his records. You won't be dissapointed.
This is a sad day for the entire music industry.

His "20 Greatest Hits" is the Hot Shot Debut at Number 13 on the Billboard Pop Catalog Albums chart.
