What in the heck is the deal with Teri Clark on the country charts? She seems to have a real commendable string of solid hits, but every once in a while one just dies. It's not like Martina or Shania or Reba, who can always get to the Top 20. Keep in mind that I am not one of those people who thinks Top 20 is a failure, either ... to me, "Little Gasoline" is a big hit. But I'm talking about "Three Mississippi" and "The World Needs a Drink," which both petered out even though they followed HUGE singles. Do you think they are just wrong choices in the limited sense of what Country radio will play? I mean, after "Three Mississippi" tanked, she had a BLOCKBUSTER hit with "I Wanna Do It All," which not only went Top 5 but seemed to hang onto the Top 10 for-EVER ... I wonder if people didn't like "TM" because it strayed from her "tough girl" image ... or then you could look at it from the angle that she was one of few women along with Martina and Shania who were allowed hits during the Year of No Women, but now that Jo Dee, Reba, and Lee Ann are back in full force, she's not able to cut it ... but that wouldn't make sense because her first big round of success was in the Female Singer boom of the late 90s. So what is it ... I mean, when Sara tanked with "Tonight" people said it was because her team pulled the song ... but why in heck did those two Teri singles "fail"????

I believe The World Needs a Drink was pulled from radio as well.

Although I don't recall how it charted I would venture to say "Now That I Found You" is definitely not a "tough girl" song. Didn't it do pretty well? I wonder if people didn't like "TM" because it strayed from her "tough girl" image "

She's always had a spotty chart record though, so I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary.
From her first album "Suddenly Single" bombed, then "Just The Same" didn't even make the Top 40 after two Top 10s from that album. She underperformed with "Unsung Hero," "No Fear," and "Getting There" too, so I don't see these recent singles as any different.

It's a case of country radio not giving women any breaks when it comes to there single releases.
Most of the guys can take any song and get country radio to play it enough to reach the Top 10.

neither "The World Needs A Drink" or "Tonight" were pulled. They may have been pulled because of their performance, but lack of airplay was the sole reason for their underperformance.
Both Mercury and Terri had high hopes for the single. I thought it was a poor choice to begin with, and it looks like I was right.
Sara's new single does not come out for at least another month and a half. "Tonight" was not pulled to make room for the new single.

Tonight was a horrible choice for a single. I don't know why The World Needs A Drink flopped. Maybe too political? It's fun, definetly country..makes you wonder..
