Lots of movement in AC land this week, particularly in the bottom half. Phillip Phillips is #1 again as Anna Kendrick continues her move to the top. She inches closer to #3 this week. If Phillip is not careful, she could potentially take over in as little as 2 weeks.
Robin Thicke's summer smash "Blurred Lines" is now an AC top 10 smash. The song climbs 11-10 this week giving the celebuspawn his first top 10 hit.
There are 3 top 20 entries this week. We kick off with the most random act lyricswise, Train. "Bruises" is the 4th single from their album California 37, and the 3rd from the album to crack the top 20. Overall this is their 11th top 20 hit. Their last top 20 was "50 Ways to Say Goodbye" which peaked at #11 back in February.
The second top 20 entry is also our biggest mover this week. Leaping 7 places to #17 are Capital Cities with their top 5 pop hit "Safe & Sound." This is the first top 20 hit for the duo.
Also making their first appearance in the top 20 this week is electronic duo Daft Punk. Their pop smash "Get Lucky" moves 22-18 this week.
We also got 3 debuts this week. Kicking off the debuts is something I've been waiting several years to say. Debuting at #26 is the brand new single from AC queen Celine Dion. "Loved Me Back To Life" is the first single from the upcoming album of the same name due November 5th. With 11 #1s to her name, Celine currently holds the record for most #1s by a solo female on the AC chart. Can she extend her lead?
Loved Me Back to Life is Celine's 38th AC hit and her first appearance in 4 years! Her last appearance was with "My Love" which peaked at #15 back in January 2009. This entry now gives Celine a 3-decade AC career.
Following the AC queen, we have last year's Christmas King. Rod Stewart is back with the 2nd single off his current album "Time." "Can't Stop Me Now" debuts at #29 this week. Rod now has 43 AC hits to his name. The first single from the album "She Makes me Happy" peaked at #12 back in May.
Closing off the chart this week is the brand new single from John Ondrasik a.k.a Five For Fighting. "What If" is the first single from his new album "Bookmarks" which drops next week. With the 330 debut this week, this is Five For Fighting's 9th AC hit, and the first in 3 years. The last chart appearance was with "Slice" which peaked at #11 back in 2010. Five For Fighting's biggest AC hit is "100 Years" which reached #1 back in 2004.
It was a recurrent week this week as we say goodbye to Kelly Clarkson, Michael Buble and Whitney Wolanin. With Kelly leaving, The Lumineers now has the longest running song on the chart as "ho Hey" is spending its 36th week on the chart. We also have new peaks for Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars (Treasure), Florida Georgia Line, Elton John, and Paul McCartney.
