I've heard it a few times. Can't say that I personally care for it, but I'm sure it'll be a big hit.

I don't really like it too much either, but the whole world seems to be in love with it already. Here's a clip from allaboutcountry.com... for some reason AllAccess hasn't posted the clip yet. www.allaboutcountry.com/media/music/ram/GeorgeStraitYou'llBeThere.ram This board won't recognize the URL since it has an apostraphe in it...just copy the entire link for it to work ;)

I heard it once, it's ok, not his best, not his worst. Overall, good to see him back and also good to see that radio has welcomed an oldtimer back! lol

I'm not that impressed by this, but it may grow on me. The choir is a little irritating right now. It's off to a great start though, becoming George's highest debut single ever at #30.

It will take me some time for this to grow on me; it just didn't grab me the way any of his past seven singles did, going back to the scintillating 'Run'.

This song is moving up the charts very quickly. This morning it's at #22 on medibase. I hope this is not a new sound for George. He is the king of the honkey tonk/western sound..... not this.
Maybe this song will grow on me.

Best single from him in years, that's just my opinion though. With the exception of "Desperately" I haven't been huge on his singles in the last 4-5 years. Good to hear something like this.

This isn't as good as some of his recent singles ("Run", "She'll Leave you With A Smile"). A bit too much production for a Strait song.
It's still pretty good, just nothing special.

Three weeks on the charts, and he's #17 already.
Five years ago today, he had the #1 country single in America with 'The Best Day'; I don't know if this will go to #1, but it's really moving!!!!!

This is his SEVENTIETH top 10 single at Billboard, leaving him four singles behind Merle Haggard for #4 on the all-time list.
His new CD is entitled 'Somewhere Over Texas', and will be released in late June, probably June 28th.

His new CD is entitled 'Somewhere Over Texas', and will be released in late June, probably June 28th. Sorry to indulge in a little nit-picking, but: Merle has had 71 top 10 singles according to Joel Whitburn's book of country hits. What's your source for the 74 number? I'm pretty confident Joel's total is right. George has 71 as well, as Billboard will give him credit for his participation in the Buffett Hey Good Lookin' radio release. If you're already crediting George for that song, I don't know what the discrepancy might be.

Those were the figures that Blair Garner mentioned on his 'After Midnite' show about ten days ago, when 'YBT' cracked BBs top 10.
I might have misunderstood him, and since Whitburn's works are THE Bible of the history of BB's charts. you're probably right, as you always are.
Sorry 'bout that!!!!

#1 CD on the Billboard Hot 200 !!!
George Strait's "Somewhere Down in Texas" earns the country veteran his third No. 1 on The Billboard 200 this week and becomes his 20th to lead the Billboard Hot Country Albums. The new studio set sold 245,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to end the three-week reign of Coldplay's "X&Y".

Congrats George! Not too shabby after 24 years in the biz! : ) This is his largest first week sales for a 'regular' studio album. "Carrying Your Love With Me" sold around 197,000 or so in 1997.

What really surprises me is that that total was only 32,000 less than what Toby sold of University in its first week.
I thought YBT was a nice, but ultimately flawed song. As a big George fan, I desperately want to see him get his 40th BB #1 and tie Conway, but, to be honest, I'm not sure if there are any worthy candidates on the new album.
Maybe since George was able to move such a huge number, MCA will feel compelled to give one of the next singles from the album an extra push.

I think "She Let Herself Go" would be a great single and I really think it is the kind of song that radio might like. It's hard to say. I think it has a great melody and it's fun to sing along with. I don't think radio would even touch "Ready For The End Of The World"..that song is awesome, but probably "too country" for radio. I'm also enjoying "Oh What A Perfect Day". "You'll Be There" will always be special to me because I know how special it was to George...and he expressed that in interviews. He loves the song and it was for his little girl. Very special. "I know we will be together again."
I'm with you, Jon. I want him to get that Billboard record. I think it will happen...hopefully...soon.

I'm glad that Ge4orge sold what he did in his first week, but you can lay the blame for TK's underwhelming first week sales numbers on the fact that 'Stays In Mexico' was probably his worst single ever, and 'Mockingbird' was right behind it.
Regardless of what you think of 'As Good As I Once Was', I think he's tarnished his own career with those two dreadful singles, which might have soured some of his fans on him.
