SoundScan keeping Timberlake's other album out of the top 10... demand a recount, RCA. www.billboard.com/articles/news/5748190/justin-timberlake-scores-his-second-no-1-album-of-2013Justin Timberlake Scores His Second No. 1 Album Of 2013By Keith Caulfield, L.A. | October 09, 2013 This week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Justin Timberlake achieves the uncommon feat of earning two different No. 1 albums in less than a year. His new release, "The 20/20 Experience, 2 of 2," starts at No. 1 with 350,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It arrives atop the chart 28 weeks after the first "The 20/20 Experience" debuted at No. 1 with the year's largest sales week: 968,000. In turn, Timberlake is the only act in 2013 to sell 300,000 copies in a week of two different albums. He continues to be the only act this year that has sold more than 300,000 units of any album in multiple weeks. (The first "20/20" sold in excess of 300,000 in each of its first two weeks. In its second frame, it moved 318,000.) "The 20/20 Experience, 2 of 2" is the second half of Timberlake's two-part "20/20 Experience" album. The new set was available in both a standard edition as well as a "complete" edition, which combined both the first half and the second half of "20/20." Sales of both "2 of 2" and the complete edition are combined together. Timberlake is the second act to score two No. 1s in 2013, following Luke Bryan. The country star debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated March 23 with the compilation "Spring Break… Here to Party," and followed it up 23 weeks later with the No. 1 bow of his studio album "Crash My Party" on the Aug. 31-dated chart. The last act to score two No. 1 studio albums at a quicker pace than Timberlake was System of a Down in 2005. The rock band also took the same two-part approach with its albums "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize." The former debuted at No. 1 on the June 4, 2005 chart (453,000 debut), and 27 weeks later, "Hypnotize" started atop the list (320,000; Dec. 10, 2005). Since Nielsen SoundScan started powering the Billboard 200 chart in May of 1991, Timberlake is just the 20th act to score two No. 1s in a 12-month span of time (not necessarily a calendar year). Moving on to the rest of this week's top 10, last week's No. 1, Drake's "Nothing Was the Same," falls to No. 2 with 148,000 (down 78%). Singer/songwriter Lorde takes a bow at No. 3 with her first full-length album, "Pure Heroine." It sold 129,000 copies in its first week. The album was led by the smash single "Royals," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last week. Lorde is the fourth woman to see her first major-label full-length album debut in the top 10 this year. She follows Ariana Grande's "Yours Truly" (No. 1), K. Michelle's "Rebellious Soul" (No. 2) and Kacey Musgraves' "Same Trailer Different Park" (No. 2). Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" rises 6-4 with 32,000 (though down by 11%). The album's cumulative sales rise to 1.02 million this week. That gives Bryan his second million-selling effort and makes it the seventh album to sell one million this year. Bryan's fellow country singer Tyler Farr debuts at No. 5 with his first album, "Redneck Crazy." It sold 29,000 in its debut week and is the highest-charting (and bowing) debut from a male country artist since October of 2011. Scotty McCreery was the last country gent to go higher with his first album, when "Clear As Day" opened at No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 22, 2011. "Redneck Crazy's" title track climbs 4-3 on the Country Airplay chart this week as well -- Farr's biggest hit so far. Right below Farr is another act who is bowing with their first full-length set, buzzed-about alternative/pop act HAIM with "Days Are Gone" at No. 6. It sold 26,000 copies -- and 85% of those were downloads. The set also bows at No. 2 on the Alternative Albums chart, behind Lorde's arriving "Pure Heroine." As for the rest of the top 10: Kings of Leon's "Mechanical Bull" tumbles 2-7 with just under 26,000 (down 76%), Cher's "Closer to the Truth" descends 3-8 with 25,000 (down 59%), Jack Johnson's "From Here to Now to You" falls 5-9 with 20,000 (down 46%) and Elton John's "The Diving Board" dips 4-10 with 19,000 (down 59%). Over on the Digital Songs chart, Lorde retains the No. 1 slot with "Royals," selling another 309,000 (up 5%). Katy Perry's "Roar" is steady at No. 2 with 218,000 (down 9%) and Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" is also a non-mover at No. 3 with 214,000 (down 3%). Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" is stationary at No. 4 with 167,000 (down 8%) while Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" (featuring Majid Jordan) jumps 13-5 with 131,000 (up 64%). Jay Z's "Holy Grail," featuring Justin Timberlake," rises one rung to No. 6 with 118,000 (down 4%) and Eminem's "Berzerk" dips two slots to No. 7 with 115,000 (down 14%). Perry debuts at No. 8 with "Walking On Air" (113,000) -- the third pre-release track from her "Prism" album. It follows the set's first official single "Roar," and "Dark Horse" (featuring Juicy J). The latter song slips 8-10 this week with 99,000 (down 5%). With those three placings, Perry is the first artist with three songs in the top 10 of the Digital Songs chart in almost a year. The last act to do so was Taylor Swift on the Nov. 3, 2012-dated chart, when she ranked in the top 10 with "State of Grace" (debuting at No. 2), "I Knew You Were Trouble" (falling 1-4 in its second week) and then-current official single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (down 7-8 in its 10th week). Like Perry, Swift achieved the feat because of pre-release tracks from her album "Red." In addition to "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "State of Grace," Swift issued two more pre-release cuts from the album -- its title track and "Begin Again." Back in this week's top 10, Lady Gaga's "Applause" descends 6-9 with 109,000 (down 18%). Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Oct. 6) totaled 4.80 million units, down 7% compared with the sum last week (5.14 million) and down 10% compared with the comparable sales week of 2012 (5.35 million). Year to date album sales stand at 209.98 million, down 6% compared to the same total at this point last year (223.78 million). Digital track sales this past week totaled 19.81 million downloads, down 2% compared with last week (20.29 million) and down 15% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (23.31 million). Year to date track sales are at 994.41 million, down 4% compared to the same total at this point last year (1.03 billion). Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2012 when: Mumford & Sons' "Babel" held at No. 1 for a third week, selling 96,000 (down 43%). Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "The Heist" was the top debut, arriving at No. 2 with 78,000.

music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-oct-6-2013-albums-justin-1-151131450.htmlWeek Ending Oct. 6, 2013. Albums: Justin At #1 (The Sequel) Paul Grein Chart Watch Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience The Complete Experience sold 350K copies in its first week, just six months after the original The 20/20 Experience sold 968K copies in its first week. The drop-off in sales between the first and second albums wasn't really a surprise: The first album was Timberlake's first studio album in 6-1/2 years. The new one is his first studio album in about six months. As such, the level of anticipation was vastly different. Despite the drop-off in sales, the new album enters The Billboard 200 at #1. It's Timberlake's second #1 album of 2013. The 20/20 Experience had three weeks on top in the spring. Timberlake has now logged more weeks at #1 than any other artist in 2013. His four weeks surpass Luke Bryan's three. The Complete Experience is a two-disk collection which consists of The 20/20 Experience and the new The 20/20 Experience, 2 of 2. It's important to note that the sales tally includes sales of a separate, single-disk edition of 2 of 2. It does not, however, include sales of the original The 20/20 Experience. That album vaults from #37 to #11 in its 29th week, buoyed by a $7.99 sale in the iTunes store. This is the first time in chart history that that an act has reached #1 with an original album and a sequel in the same calendar year. Ray Charles nearly the achieved the feat in 1962. Modern Sounds In Modern And Western Music logged 14 weeks at #1 that summer and fall. In early December, an identically titled album with the subtitle Volume Two peaked at #2. The Complete Experience is Timberlake's third consecutive album to hit #1. Timberlake has now had more #1 albums on his own than he did with *NSYNC. That boy band had a pair of #1 albums in 2000-2001. Timberlake is such a big star that it's easy to take this for granted, but very few group members go on to solo careers in which they surpass the group's achievements. Timberlake is the second artist (following Luke Bryan) to top The Billboard 200 with two albums in 2013. This is the first calendar year in which two artists have each had two #1 albums since 2005, when Kenny Chesney and System Of A Down both scored. The original The 20/20 Experience has ranked in the top 40 ever since it was released in March. It's the best-selling album for the year-to-date. In fact, it has sold slightly more copies (2,310,00) than its two chief rivals (Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox and Imagine Dragons' Night Visions) have sold in 2013, combined. (Those two albums are both 2012 hold-overs; I'm looking only at the albums' 2013 sales: 1,242,000 for Jukebox and 1,041,000 for Night Visions.) Timberlake's new album sold 183K digital copies, which allows it to enter Top Digital Albums at #1. The news for Timberlake wasn't so good on the other side of the Atlantic. The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2 enters The U.K.'s Official Albums chart at #2. It's Timberlake's first solo album to fall short of the #1 spot in the U.K. It was kept out of top spot by HAIM's debut album Days Are Gone. (That album, which enters The Billboard 200 at #6, is the debut album by a Los Angeles pop-rock trio which consists of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim. A song from the album, "The Wire," entered Rock Songs at #50 last week. The song has reached the top 20 in the U.K.) Lorde's debut album, Pure Heroine, debuts at #3, with first-week sales of 129K. (What a dull and generic album cover.) This is the second album by a New Zealand native to hit it big this year. Keith Urban's Fuse debuted at #1 three weeks ago (with first week sales of 98K). Lorde, 16, is more than 50 years younger than Cher, whose Closer To The Truth drops from #3 to #8 in its second week. I imagine Lorde would be happy if she has a fraction of Cher's longevity and achievements. Lorde's "Royals" reached #1 on the Hot 100 last week and will probably stay put this week. Luke Bryan's Crash My Party rebounds from #6 to #4. The album this week becomes the sixth album to sell 1 million copies in 2013. It's the first country album to achieve the feat. Crash My Party reached 1 million in just eight weeks. That's much faster than Bryan's only previous million-selling album, Tailgates & Tanlines, which took 38 weeks to sell 1 million copies. (It's now up to 2,157,000). Crash My Party holds at #1 on Top Country Albums for the sixth week. That's the longest run at #1 for an album by a male solo artist since Scotty McCreery's Clear As Day had six weeks on top in 2011. Tyler Farr's Redneck Crazy debuts at #5. The title song has climbed as high as #2 on Hot Country Songs. This is the first album with the word "redneck" in its title to crack the top 10 since Jeff Foxworthy's Games Rednecks Play hit #8 in September 1995. This is the second album with the word "redneck" in its title to crack the 30 this year. The Lacs' Keep It Redneck debuted and peaked at #23 in August. Farr has written songs for country acts Colt Ford and Joe Nichols, among others. Lorde's "Royals" holds at #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the third week. It sold 309K copies this week, its highest tally to date. Will "Royals" also hold at #1 on the Hot 100? You'll find for sure out later today when we post Chart Watch: Songs. Here’s the low-down on this week’s top 10 albums. The Top Five: Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience The Complete Experience debuts at #1 (350K). It's his fourth top 10 album as a solo act…Drake's Nothing Was The Same dips from #1 to #2 in its second week (148K)… Lorde's Pure Heroine debuts at #3 (129K). It's her first top 10 album…Luke Bryan's Crash My Party rebounds from #6 to #4 in its eighth week (32K). It has been in the top 10 the entire time…Tyler Farr's Redneck Crazy debuts at #5 (29K). It's his first top 10 album. The Second Five: HAIM's Days Are Gone debuts at #6 (26K). It's the trio's first top 10 album…Kings of Leon’s Mechanical Bull drops from #2 to #7 in its second week (26K)… Cher’s Closer To The Truth dips from #3 to #8 in its second week (25K)…Jack Johnson's From Here To Now To You drops from #5 to #9 in its third week (20K)…Elton John’s The Diving Board drops from #4 to #10 in its second week (19K). Metallica's Metallica: Through The Never drops from #9 to #25 in its second week. It's #1 on Top Soundtracks for the second week. Three other albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Dream Theater’s Dream Theater drops from #7 to #38. Krewella's Get Wet plummets from #8 to #90. Justin Moore’s Off The Beaten Path dips from #10 to #13. Nelly’s M.O. debuts at #14. This breaks a string of six straight top 10 studio albums by the hip-hopper. All Time Low's Don't Panic re-enters the chart at #19, thanks to the release of an expanded edition. The album reached #6 in October 2012. Hillsong Young & Free's We Are Young & Free debuts at #22. It's the first in a series of pop albums from the Contemporary Christian empire. The album was recorded live at the Hillsong Convention Centre in Australia in April. Steven Curtis Chapman's The Glorious Unfolding debuts at #27. Curtis released his first album, First Hand, in 1987. His highest-charting album, All About Love, hit #12 in 2003. Rush's Vapor Trails: Remixed debuts at #35. The band's original Vapor Trails album debuted and peaked at #6 in May 2002. It has sold 373K copies. The songs were remixed on the new album to eliminate the compression that, to some Rush die-hards, marred the original album. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' Unvarnished debuts at #47. It's the group's first album to chart since Up Your Alley hit #19 in October 1988. (Jett's solo release, The Hit List, reached #36 in February 1990.) The group's I Love Rock-N-Roll reached #2 in April 1982. The title track topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks. Nirvana's 1993 album In Utero drops from #46 to #72 in its 90th chart week. It's #1 on Top Catalog Albums for the second straight week. Maroon 5's 2007 album It Won't Be Soon Before Long tops 500K in digital sales this week. It's the group's second album to achieve this feat. 2012's Overexposed is up to 698K. And the group is on the verge of hitting 500K in digital sales with its 2010 album Hands All Over (499K). That will make Maroon 5 only the second act (following Taylor Swift) to top the 500K mark in digital sales with three albums. (Maroon 5's 2002 debut album, Songs About Jane, has sold 387K digital copies. That's high for an album that peaked before digital fully penetrated.) One Direction's Up All Night—The Live Tour holds at #1 on Top Music Videos for a record-extending 33rd week. Gravity was #1 at the box-office over the weekend. Coming Attractions: Miley Cyrus's Bangerz is sure to debut at #1 next week. Also due: Cassadee Pope's Frame By Frame, Korn’s Paradigm Shift, Panic! At The Disco's Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die, Pusha T's My Name Is My Name, Mayday Parade's Monsters In The Closet, Alter Bridge's Fortress, Prince Royce's Soy El Mismo, Amos Lee’s Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song, Cage The Elephant's Melophobia, Stone Temple Pilots' High Rise EP.

Hmm...so that 2 of 2 total also includes the "Complete Experience." I wonder how much each sold on their own.

19k is an all-time low for the #10 selling album, right?

19k is an all-time low for the #10 selling album, right? Probably not all time low but the lowest figure during the Soundscan era (1991-present)

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/5755297/chart-moves-joan-jett-returns-to-billboard-200-randy-travis-album-hits-topChart Moves: Joan Jett Returns to Billboard 200, Randy Travis Album Hits Top 40 on Country Albums, Remixed Rush Debuts By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | October 10, 2013 8:25 PM EDT This week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, it was all about Justin Timberlake, as the star earned his second No. 1 album this year. His new "The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2)" debuted atop the chart, selling 350,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It followed the first "The 20/20 Experience," which arrived to market earlier this year, and debuted at No. 1 with 968,000 sold in its first week. Outside the top 10 on the Billboard 200 there were a number of movers and shakers. Let's take a look at some of them… -- Cher and Elton John, "Closer to the Truth" and "The Diving Board" (Nos. 8 and 10): The two pop icons see relatively small second-week sales declines with their respective albums, as both fall by 59%. Comparatively, Kings of Leon's "Mechanical Bull" -- which is also in its second week -- dip by 76% at No. 7. Perhaps the older consumer bases for Cher and John were slower to purchase their albums, thus, spurring smaller drop-offs. -- All Time Low, "Don't Panic" (No. 19): The band reissued its 2012 album last week (Sept. 30) with extra tracks, dubbing the set "Don't Panic: It's Longer Now!" It includes a handful of newly recorded cuts and remixes. Combined, the two versions sold 14,000 (up 2,667% for the week), marking the album's best sales frame since its debut (48,000) the week of Oct. 27, 2012. -- Rush, "Vapor Trails Remixed" (No. 35): The group retooled its 2002 album "Vapor Trails," re-mastering it for its reissue last week. The band's Geddy Lee recently told Rolling Stone that the original mix was "harsh and distorted." The new, refreshed album sold 10,000 copies. -- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, "Unvarnished" (No. 47): After more than 20 years away from the top 50 of the Billboard 200, rock veteran Joan Jett returns to the tally. Her new studio album, "Unvarnished," bows at No. 47 this week with 8,000 sold -- her biggest sales week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. To promote the new album (which features collaborations with Dave Grohl and Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace), Jett visited ABC's "The View" on street date (Sept. 30) and participated in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything). The set's first single, "Any Weather" (co-written with Grohl), got its first TV performance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Aug. 8. -- Colt Ford, "Ride Through the Country" (No. 97): For its fifth anniversary, the album was re-released with a handful of new guests replacing some of the lesser-known features on the original set. Among those now on board: Wynonna, Ronnie Dunn and Jamey Johnson. Merged with the original release, the combined sales jumped to 4,000 for the week (up 465%). -- Randy Travis, "Influence: Vol. 1 - The Man I Am" (No. 120): After a health scare earlier this year that hospitalized the singer, the country veteran is back on the charts with his new covers project. It's his 25th title to chart on the Billboard 200. Over on the Top Country Albums chart, it starts at No. 19, marking his 28th top 40 set. -- The Nick Hexum Quintet, "My Shadow Pages" (No. 164): The 311 frontman's pop/jazz-leaning side project enters with 3,000 sold. A new 311 album is also on the horizon: in July, the band announced it will release its next set on March 11, 2014. (March 11… 3/11… get it?)
