The small towns herebeg to differ. We all like the upbeat partying country sound. No one over the age of 70 would be caught dead listening to anything released before 2010. Wow, really? I'm all for differing opinions, but this is the definition of "generalizing." I'm from a small town (and young), and I absolutely despise the "Party In your truck with a pretty young thing" theme in Country music right now. Just because something is popular doesn't mean you should put everyone in the same group. As for this song, it's fantastic, and it's a damn shame radio bailed on it. Regardless, I love this and it's one of Strait's best ever. I only hope the tides DO turn soon, and quality songs aren't lost at radio forever. Great run from the King, and my respect for him is unmatched, chart runs be damned. :) ...i took brians comment as him being sarcastic. guess i was wrong lol

It's stuff like this that makes me visit these forums less and less every day. I'm not happy about George being off the chart either, but being mean about a song that so many people like is a bit over the top. The only time we hear from Brian is when he thinks up something mean to say about George. I had to read his remark over a few times just to understand what he was trying to say. I think he meant under the age of 70, not over. Its hard to take a poorly structured sentence seriously, so I didn't.

Yeah, trolling gets old quickly... there's a reason why Brian is no longer a registered Pulse member.

While listening to a local station here doing the radio playlist the local dj confirmed that George's next album will be a live album due out sometime in the fall. He's a huge Strait fan and always keeps up to date with anything King George.

That would definitely be an awesome way to cap off his final tour!

This is still the most infuriating chart run for any single by George Strait in his legendary career, and the fact that a mediocre tune entitled 'When She Says Baby' which debuted on the Mediabase chart the same week that this masterpiece did, and immeditaely shot to #1, figures to finish in the year-end top ten while 'I Got A Car' will be lucky to finish in the top 60 is an enormous insult to all of us, not to mention those of us who cherish top-notch lyrics and impeccable vocals, which certainly describes 'IGAC' perfectly.
At least the story in Monday evening's edition of Country Aircheck detailing future plans for the beyond-legendary KPLX/Dallas and other Cumulus stations certainly bodes well for heritage artists such as George Strait, Alan Jackson, Tracy Lawrence, Lee Ann Womack, Brooks & Dunn and other format megastars of the 1990s still having a home at country radio in spite of the 'bro-country' onslaught, knowing that the folks @ Cumulus realized that there are still millions of folks including baby-boomers such as yours truly and other posters (veterans and newcomers alike) who'll never tire of hearing all of their dozens of masterpieces and instant classics for years to come.
At least finding the stations still playing 'IGAC' a lot, including three format powerhouses which boosted spins by double digits this week (where the heck were they six months ago?) remains a snap thanks to the All Access database for those of us who aren't tired of this wonderful song at all after some 9 months on the charts; even if a new single is announced within the next 2-3 weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if many stations continue to play it rather steadily for a few more months.

I'm not real happy about a live album to be honest. If George has a 5 album deal, I'd rather have full albums of new songs or another boxed set instead of a live CD which he already has. If the live CD was released with a live single like "That's What Breaking Hearts Do" or something, I could get behind it, but I HIGHLY doubt we see another single off his latest or live album.
I'm still hearing this in heavy rotation on local stations, and I'm happy with that.

Remember when those two were dominating everything?

Oftentimes live albums or hits packages aren't counted in a contract such as this so I don't necessarily think that a potential live album would count as one of the 5 albums on the contract that George re-signed with MCA. When George extended his contract I took his comments to mean that he's going to do 5 more studio albums (and one of them might be a swing band album). I could be wrong, but I think a potential CD/DVD live album thing would only be to capitalize off The Cowboy Rides Away tour and likely wouldn't count as one of the 5 albums.

Although a new live CD wouldn't surprise me, I would hope that it would also include a couple of new studio tracks which could be released as singles, assuming that we won't get any more new singles from his current CD.
A new boxed set with two or three new songs wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Usually I would be disappointed in getting a performance dvd instead of an album of new songs, but I'm almost positive we'll get a Live DVD of the last tour and this time I'm looking forward to it. The tour was so different from his usual shows. The duets, a lot of talking from him during the songs. I wasn't able to go to any of the concerts due to health issues, but I've seen clips from some of the venues and they were a delight. So fun to see and hear the duets and the inner action with his guests. You could tell he had real mixed emotions and you could also tell that he was so enjoying himself and appreciating the reception from the crowds. So Yeah, I think a live dvd would be great. Also, I don't think it will count as one of his committed albums that we've been promised.

The live album/DVD would be a perfect release on all fronts (would be great timing for one, should sell rather well, etc.), and I don't believe it'll take away anything from him continuing to release more studio albums. This opportunity would be too good imo for them to pass up, and he can follow it with an album of new material sometime next year.

I like that we'll be getting duet versions of some of the songs as well (Aldean and Strait singing "Fool Hearted Memory" is one I'm really looking forward to), makes it worth more than just a regular live album. I wonder if any of the duets will get released as a single? It'd be a good way to keep George's name out and could score him a mega-hit if it's with the right artist.

Rest assured that millions of folks over and under 70 years of age have enjoyed many of King George's masterpieces, including the #1 single from exactly nine years ago this week, the sublime 'She Let Herself Go'; let's not get too silly about this.
The fact that IGAC preposterously crawled up the charts is an indictment of country radio plain & simple.
Thank goodness that he's more than welcome at standout stations such as NASH Icon's WSM/Nashville which has soared past WSIX in the ratings is causing plenty of consternation all up and down Music Row.

Wow, this is awesome! He doesn't have many certified songs so this is great news. No excuse why this stalled at #17
