George Strait I Got A Car MCA Nashville Add Date: November 4, 2013.
Well, I guess they ARE going with this one instead of "Credits." Perhaps they'll still perform "Credits" on CMA if they perform anything at all.

Perfect choice. Looking forward to hearing this one on the radio. Hope it's not too late for this one to be the smash it deserves to be.

YAY!!!! Just in time for the awards show it seems. Yeah. And if not for that and him being George Strait, it'd would have been better to wait until after Christmas since the Yuletide tunes will stop most songs from being played.

There ya go MCA...Now was that so hard to do? Finally glad you could see what we all saw, that this should have been the 2nd single, and not "I Believe".
Little disappointed its being released in the winter though. But when you have a epic fail as the 2nd single, I think they had no choice but to release the most sure fire and radio friendly song on the record. If country radio has any intelligence left at all (judging by the way the charts are flooded with absolute garbage, not very much), this should be another #1 smash.... It better be?

Probably my favourite song on "Love Is Everything", so I'm thrilled to see it get released. I'd love to see it hit #1 (like it deserves to), but with how radio is now, I'll just be happy to see it get in the top ten. After this, they just need to release "When The Credits Roll", then they can move on to the next album.

Seems like we've been waiting years for this... I just hope George still has enough momentum for it to be a decent hit.
"I Got A Car" certainly should be radio-friendly enough, so hopefully it'll at least make the top 10.

All I gotta say is its about damn time! If anything can save George from his horrendous awful last single, it's this!

I'm so glad that this has been released, and I'm not sure that it will suffer because of "I Believe", because how many people really even knew that that was a single?

This is a way better choice than When The Credits Roll in my opinion. It's my favorite song off Love Is Everything, so hopefully this one smashes and shows the country music world he's still got it. I'm hoping for a top 5 here at least.

Not suprising in the slightest. Great choice.
Could definitely see this going top 5 or even #1.

Best song by George in years and one of his best all time. That is saying a lot because his catalog is legendary. I have faith this will be a #1 and am so excited I'll be able to hear it on the radio.

It's one thing to enjoy this yourself, but knowing it's finally gonna be heard by Evreyone else in the country music listening world and finally gonna get the recognition it deserves is awesome. I've always felt that way, where songs I love....I love hearing it more on the radio than on my iphone. I know it's the same song, but it's just how my stupid mind works. Especially "I Got A Car", cause it should have been on the radio much sooner!

Big, Big hit. Only downside is the length, but I'm sure they'll tighten it up for radio. This is such a great story song that is infectious and just makes you feel good when you hear it. Lyric is so real and so positive. I think people will relate to this in a major way.
"I Believe" is a great song, but not for radio. It referred to too much negativity and was just too heavy a subject matter, much like "Drinkin' Man" was. When I listen to the radio, I want to smile and "I Got A Car" does that for me as all the big time hits George has done over the years.

I don't know why, but there's something about your favorite song off an album being released that is so awesome. sabre14

Better late than never as the saying goes; hopefully this will become a smash.
His label undoubtedly knows that the holiday season has minimal effect on songs by format superstars (gains of 500-900+ spins over three weeks aren't unusual, as was the case last Christmas season), but given the fact that Strait and Alan Jackson are preposterously being pushed out to pasture, he may not gain spins with this as easily as earlier end-of-the-year smashes such as 'Run' and 'She'll Leave You With A Smile' did in previous years.

Not sure why they didn't bury I Believe and release this a while ago, but at least they've finally made the proper choice. As long as radio is still open to George (and given any chance at all it should be a fan favorite), this should have no trouble being successful. And if it does stall out short of #1 - they can always release the "I Got a Truck" - edit, that'll be assured of #1.

Today I was thinking we all maybe were too quick saying this song was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Not saying the song wasn't great, but going overboard a little.
So I listened to this again just now. It took me about 10 seconds to say.....NOPE!....This song is amazing, and deserves every bit of praise it gets. Upbeat feel good melody, great hook line, and those clever lyrics ("But I rolled up my sleeves, walked up and I said. I know I don't know ya but I kinda like a shot. She said I saw you coming over, Ive already thought it over and OK...so now what? I said we'll I got a car, she said that's something. At least it's a start, I said it's better than nothing. I ain't in no hurry but I'm ready when you are. She said were do you think all this is going? I said there ain't no way of knowing. I guess I Hadn't thought it through that far....BUT I GOT A CAR"). That ladies and gentleman are called great lyrics. Know it's becoming harder to find now and days but it's nice to see it can still be done.
This has become my favorite George song in years. Maybe since "You'll Be There". If not that then dare I say "Blue Clear Sky" which I think I was about 8 years old when that hit #1. This song needs to be a chart topper, and because of when its being released, just maybe a top 5 Year End charting single.

Glad to see this finally get it's release...albeit 7 months late. We could've been already talking about the third follow-up single to this smash right now, like "When the Credits Roll," but we are kind of starting where GIAWGT left off. Ok, enough of my grumblings regarding MCA's handling of the singles from this great album.
I know the CMA's have already released George's name along with Alan as a performance to salute George Jones, however I have to assume they'll also give George his own slot for an individual performance. With that, I am looking forward to hearing this at the CMA's. Should be a great performance.
As a long time Strait fan, I am not quite on board with everyone calling this the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's a smash hit no doubt and should have no problem getting George back to the top 5 and likely #1. It's a great example of George picking the right song for radio that still stays true to his roots. That said, I kind of rate this song along with some of his other greatest smashes like Check Yes Or No or Write This Down. All great songs bound for success at radio, though I wouldn't put them in my top ten list of George's all time best songs ever. This does, however, make up for MCA not releasing As Far As It Goes, which should have been a no brainer of a release. In fact, IGAC kind of has the same vibe and feel of AFAIG.
Looking forward to hearing this soon at radio...which hopefully should be next week I hope.
Edit: on a side note, is there anyone here who tried to get tickets to George's show in Austin today? I did, and as a longtime fan club member I am quite frustrated and angry. If so, please pm me.

IGAC has a great shot at a Mediabase #1, but since BB now includes streams and downloads, I doubt it will go #1 there, but it can certainly go Top 10. Keeping fingers crossed that he'll be able to sing it at the CMAs. All other 4 Entertainer nominees surely will get to perform solo, King George should be afforded the same courtesy!!!

It could still get #1 on the Billboard Airplay chart. I think that is what most radio execs are still looking at. Most have written off the new chart as an experiment and whoever gets #1 on there has no real meaning. I mean FL-GA line now having the biggest #1 hit in the history of the genre, please...

I hope the CMAs give them the appropriate stage time for a fitting tribute (I think they will). Anything is better than that ridiculous "tribute" done by the Mavericks at the CMT Awards. I suspect neither George or Alan will need to read the lyrics to whatever Jones song(s) they perform.

I love George, but I just don't get the hype about this song. There were many songs on that album I thought were much better than that one. But I've been wrong before. :) And if it snags him another #1, of course I'll be a happy camper!

I'd be happy with a #1, I'd be happy with top 3, and as long as it manages a peak in the top 10 I won't be disappointed. Something has to get George's status back to "the old normal" and this song is a perfect candidate. Once radio gets an idea in their heads, though, it's hard to get it out, and I'm afraid there will be more consequences from the last disastrous single release. And waiting so long to release something new doesn't seem great to me either.
But that's just because I tend to worry. This is George we're talking about, and I ought to show more confidence.

When this first came out, I thought, "Wow this IS the greatest George Strait song of all-time!" After about 250 listens, I still love it, but I put it at #3. Just behind "Drinkin' Man" and "Murder on Music Row". That should still speak to how great this song is. It's a little bit too contemporary, but it is an excellent story with a great rhythm. Hopefully, this one is a much bigger radio hit than those other two (and yes, I am aware MOMR was not a single). It is certainly very deserving.
