"Long Live Rock & Roll" is the second-revealed song - and supposedly one of the standout tracks - from Daughtry's upcoming album Baptized.

"Long Live Rock & Roll" is the second-revealed song - and supposedly one of the standout tracks - from Daughtry's upcoming album Baptized. If this is a standout track, yikes. I really hate having to say this, because I adore Chris's voice, and I loved him on Idol. But, I've felt like he's completely sold his soul to the corporate machine to become the next Nickleback, and I can't even express how disappointed that makes me. Chris has an incredible voice and range, and he could be doing so much more with his talent. But instead of releasing good material, he's resorted to releasing commercial junk, with each song sounded the same (or worse), than the last. It's especially ironic that someone who put his own spin on rock covers and gave the show so many great moments has now chosen to be one of those artists that isn't interested in staying true to himself. IMO, Rock N' Roll is about being adventurous and fearless and brazen; Chris is anything but. This song basically sums up all the issues I've had with Daughtry lately. This is a guy with a ton of talent who once showed promise as a rock artist; I would never have predicted he would go down the pop/AC/Nickleback route to get a hit. Instead, they keep recycling the same hook and calling it a "new: sound. This isn't new; it's generic, boring, pop fluff designed to appeal to a mass audience. Every single artist that's "named dropped" in this song was considered instrumental in shaping the history of rock N' Roll; instead of daring to BE one of those artists, Chris is catering to those fans who probably don't have the first clue about what rock n' roll is really about. Chris is basically the sellout that many of his rock n' Roll peers would never dare to be. As a former fan who was really looking forward to supporting Chris, this makes me really upset. ***End of Rant***
