I've been wondering if they would go with this or the title track for the 2nd single. I think "Want Me To" is a good move, since it's very radio-friendly, but still a great song. Hopefully this does well, because I like it a lot better than 90% of what radio is currently playing. The whole album is refreshing...

Perfect single choice from a perfect album. I just love everything about this one...the lyrics, the instrumentation (especially that banjo!), and his vocals. I really hope that 2014 is a break-out year for Charlie. He is my favorite new artist. The songwriting on his album is exquisite, as is the instrumentation and production.

One of my favorite songs from my favorite country album of 2013 so far. Can't wait to hear this one on the radio. I really hope that 2014 is a break-out year for Charlie. That would be amazing. He definitely deserves it. He has a great chance to breakthrough with Want Me Too and Rubberband (3rd single?).

I really wanted "Rubberband" as the second single. But I always liked this song. I am though really warming to this being second. It's a more radio friendly song, and is upbeat, and fun. I think that Warner Bros. thought that they need to give Charlie the best chance to succeed, and this song was the surest choice for another top 20 trip. Then they can give us "Rubberband" which is one of the coolest songs I've heard in a while on any album, and I think that it could be a breakthrough song for him. The production is spot on. I think Charlie's songwriting and understanding where to put the different instrumentation at the certain parts of the song is awesome. He is one of the most gifted writers for his overall sound to his songs I have ever heard. Plus his lyrics are solid as well. This song is going to be heading up my weekley and monthly favorites lists in the future.

I've always liked this but now it's one of my favorites. I really think he could breakout with this.

Yeah, this is off to a very, very strong start as well. C'mon, country radio! Get something right in 2014! Turn Charlie Worsham into a superstar!

I was not a fan of his first single at all and was completely baffled by so many people's affection for him, but after listening to this song, I get it. This is one of my favorite new songs out right now and I'm hoping it does well for Charlie.

I'm less optimistic that this will be a hit. I think there's a good chance it will go top 20, but I doubt it will peak higher than "Could It Be." I remember "Could It Be" also had a surprisingly strong start and jumped through the 50's with no trouble, much like The Henningsens' debut single, but several months down the road I definitely don't think Charlie will be able to maintain this steam and he'll probably lose out to new artists with more production on their songs.

I feel contrary to this. I think it's a hugely positive sign that this one is starting off so well, considering his last single wasn't as big of a hit as, say, those big breakthroughs by Brett Eldredge, Tyler Farr, Thomas Rhett, Randy Houser, etc. I think Charlie had the most well-received radio tour of any new artist and I can see this doing very, very well, perhaps going all the way to #1. He is one of the 5 artists that will play the CRS New Faces show late this winter, which just goes to show the tremendous amount of industy/radio/label support he has. The other 4 are Brett Eldredge, Tyler Farr, Cassadee Pope, and Thomas Rhett, so Charlie definitely beat out several other popular newcomers for one of the coveted 5 spots. I think Charlie is a ray of sunshine in the bleak world of country radio where bro-country shines. Musically, there are no other new artists like him. If Charlie can get a really big hit, I think he can really help show those who are losing hope in country radio that there is still solid contemporary and traditional country music being made, in which artists aren't just singing about trucks and hot girls and beer.

My logic is this: Most new artists (other than the ones who break through with a big hit) get one hit at the beginning of their first "era" and then each subsequent single peaks about 10-20 spaces lower. Dustin Lynch took his first single to #2, the next peaked at #16, and then the third single probably should have peaked in the lower 20's, although Broken Bow has been fighting really hard to push it further up the chart. Jana Kramer's first single peaked at #3, her next peaked at #25, and the third peaked below the top 40. Even some of the older B-list artists like Gary Allan and Gloriana have experienced this same cycle.
Brett Eldredge, Tyler Farr, Thomas Rhett, and Randy Houser are the new artists who have actually broken through and scored #1 hits (albeit a Mediabase-only #1 in Farr's case). However, I don't think Charlie Worsham really broke through. His sales numbers just aren't too high and lately it seems that a song almost has to have strong sales to break an artist through and get to #1. In 2013, the roughly ten songs that went top 10 on Mediabase but did not go to #1 on that chart almost all had low sales ("Tip It on Back," "Aw Naw," "All Over the Road," "Jump Right In"). The Henningsens had a very well-received radio tour, too, which is why their debut single went top 20 despite low sales. The way I see it, when a song isn't selling well, top 15 or top 20 on the charts is considered an indicator of a lot of radio enthusiasm.
I definitely agree that Charlie has a lot of industry support behind him, which is why I think that he will manage to get another song into the top 20, even if sales do not turn out that great. However, for his song to go to #1, I think it would have to really resonate with the digital crowd, so in my opinion a top 20 is really great for Charlie and shows that radio has a lot of support for him. If radio weren't too enthusiastic about him, I'd say this song would probably peak in the 30's and have a run similar to "I Miss You." However, I'm not at all writing out the possibility of this going as high as #1 and it does sound great on radio. I guess it depends on if this can get at least semi-decent sales (about as good as Easton Corbin's sales tend to be, at least).

^ I think both of the above posts are right. In one sense, Charlie has the well received radio tour that Jamie eluded to. "Could It Be" I remember being one of the most added debut singles it's first week or two out I could remember. His presence in front of different radio stations obviously made quite the impression on them; as well it should of. He is beyond talented. That's evident in his songwriting. Getting the slot at CRS is also an encouraging sign. It's not easy getting one of those spots. Radio is a very hectic, easy to get lost in the shuffle industry, and the fact that he is still on their radar a year later shouldn't be blown off.
But like Churchchoir, I too think that he didn't break through the way many of his peers did in 2013. The fact that he hasn't totally caught on in the downloading world is a negative wether we like it or not. Even though I think "Want Me Too" is a better song than "Could It Be", that doesn't mean that fans will feel the same way. The one thing keeping Charlie afloat is the industry support right now. He does not have really anywhere near the buzz of the other new acts. His music is not what's the hot seller at the moment. It seems like you have to drive a truck with a hottie, or throw beer cans at a ex's house to get any kind of traction with Itunes. There has been evidence that a successful radio tour is not 100% guaranteed to find top 10 after top 10. The Henningsens unfortunate flounder of "I Miss You" after the promising "American Beautiful" is just one of the many examples of why never to give country radio the benefit of the doubt. I still will hold my prediction of top 20, because of the early support of the radio tour and because of the overall quality of "Want Me Too". But I'm gonna have to see this go #1 or even top 5 first for me to eat my words..and I hope I do cause this guy deserves to be a star in this genre.

This was one of the last songs I heard on the radio on my way back to Wilmington for semester #2 of my Master's degree. I smiled a little knowing that a station has already picked it up; hoping this can break him through even further this year so at least one of my personal favorites from the album (the title track, "Young to See", and "Mississippi in July") can get green-lighted as a single eventually.

I'm really starting to like this song. I think I might have to check out his album.
After a rough week last week, I think "Want Me Too" has a good shot at making Billboard's top 40 this week, or at least moving back up close to its (so far) peak of #41.

I think I might have to check out his album. I'm thinking about editing board rules, to include a bullet-point requiring that all active members listen to Charlie's album ;) Ok, so I can't do that, but I can sure recommend it. Superb album, top to bottom. I really hope this song takes off in a big way. So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Check out the title track ("Rubberband") if nothing else. I'm addicted to that song... Please be the next single .

Rubberband shot up the iTunes country albums chart after Friday's episode of Bones. It's currently at #11 after sitting outside the top 100 for awhile.

Bones is a show I've wanted to get into for a long time (mostly because I've been a big David Boreanaz fan since Buffy/Angel, lol). I will probably watch the recent episode just to see Charlie's acting debut, and I imagine (knowing myself) that that will cause me to start watching the show from the very beginning, lol.

Forgot about him being on Bones yesterday so I'll have to try and see it some other way in the future. Nice that it gave him a boost in sales. I love seeing singers get guest spots on shows. For instance, I loved seeing Miranda Lambert on Law & Order: SVU. It's the only episode I've ever tuned in for on that show, lol.

Certainly a feel good song! But it's more than catchy, the vocals and production are really good on this. Could It Be is a good song, but I do much prefer this. I'll also take the advice of those in this thread and give the album a listen.

For anyone that says they love traditional country music NOT to listen to this album is a travesty. This is one of the purest albums I've ever heard. The writing is exquisite, the instrumentation is incredible and there is no overproduction. There is not a weak song on the entire record. I've listened to it dozens of times in full. I think it's the best album of its kind to come out in decades. Add to that the fact that Charlie is a super nice and genuine guy, and this is a MUST HAVE album for any country music lover.

So I did go ahead and watch the episode of Bones. Charlie's part wasn't huge (and I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet), but it was still cool. He played a fictional struggling country singer named Collin Hayes, and the Bones crew had to figure out who murdered him (poor Charlie, lol). Fairly early in the episode, the investigators were in a bar and you could hear "Want Me Too" in the background. Later on they played some pretty long snippets of both "Young To See" and "How I Learned To Pray". Then at the end of the episode they featured "Love Don't Die Easy".

This was far and away my favorite album of last year and will probably carry over to this year as well. There is not one bad song here. I would really love to see this get some album of the year nods. Want Me Too is such a good catchy song.
I am really hoping for Trouble Is to be released next. If Want Me Too doesn't hit the Top 10, I feel that Rubberband would be to risky. If WMT ends up being a hit then I would go ahead and go with Rubberband then Trouble Is. I wish he could release most of the album and I would hate to be the one picking singles.....

I really like this song! I have been hearing it quite often on my radio station lately. With this song, I get a vibe from the chorus similar to Diamond Rio with a modern sound!
