I've been waiting for this guy's single to come out. Matt was amazing live at CRS! There's finally a man brave enough to admit that women rule :). The song is so much fun and this guy has an outstanding voice. I'm loving the traditional country sound. I found his website and you can hear a couple of other songs from his album. He's pretty hot too, girls! www.mattjenkinsmusic.com

Found this tidbit online too.... He's also a songwriter for Jody Williams. Cool story off of the site:
"Matt Jenkins will never need to talk about overcoming rejection. As soon as he starts singing, doors swing open. As soon as people hear the quality of his original country songs, they enthusiastically get on board. Here’s how fast it happened: the 20-year-old resident of Aledo, Texas saw an ad for a Grammy talent competition and sent in a three-song tape. When Jenkins arrived in Nashville to compete in the finals, his father phoned a music publisher to see if a package they’d sent had arrived. Jenkins was invited to perform his songs in the office of Jody Williams, the head of the publishing company. Williams listened, then immediately made two moves: he offered Matt a publishing deal and he called renowned record executive and producer Tony Brown and suggested he hear Jenkins’s voice and songs. The next day, Matt arrived at Universal South to find producer/guitarist Brent Rowan visiting. Matt performed for Brown and Rowan and then was immediately asked to perform for co-label-head Tim DuBois and the rest of the Universal South staff. Again, Matt sang his songs, and DuBois took him into his office and–on the spot–asked him if he’d like to sign a record contract. Rowan, who produced CMA Horizon Award winner Joe Nichols for Universal South, enthusiastically volunteered to produce. Yes, he’s that good. The comparisons tend to fall toward the leading traditionalists of the modern era. The deep tone, relaxed rhythm and sly expressiveness of Matt’s voice draw references to Keith Whitley and Randy Travis. The wry cleverness of his lyrics and the fresh take on tradition in his arrangements bring talk of similarities to Alan Jackson and George Strait. But Matt Jenkins is his own man. All it takes is one listen."

Third most added after Trace and Brooks & Dunn (beat out Lonestar and Chris Cagle)! I think King of the Castle is at #56. I'm surprised none of you opinionated people have comments to offer. I think Matt is awesome!

First post! Woot!
I'll give an opinion. I listened to a clip on his site (that's a wacked out site!) and while I prefer more contemporary country, I really really dig this guy's music from what I have heard on the site. It doesn't have all those extra layers that bands like Rascal Flatts and Josh Gracin have, but it's easy to listen to, and he does have a great voice. I hope this song does well. It's nice to hear something like this on radio. Showersinger, you seem to know a lot about this guy. When does his album come out?

Glad you like him, Florida Bob. I love to chat about all the big name country artists on here too but I think sometimes the new artists get overlooked. I guess you could say that I have a bit of a crush on this new guy. (Kinda like Steelo has a crush on Miranda Lambert) I don't know when his album will come out. I did run across a Universal South ad in Country Weekly that has a date of October 4th....but who knows really. I love the other songs on his website. Can't wait for the album to come out.
