And the funny thing is all the stations playing are in Texas.

Haven't heard it, but I bet its great. Is it going to be on the new album? Yep...see clip from acctop40 article: George Strait Set To Release "Somewhere Down In Texas" Country music’s reigning King of Country, George Strait, will release his 33rd album, Somewhere Down in Texas (MCA/Universal) on June 28. George Strait once said, “I want to reach a point where people hear my name and immediately think of real country music.’’ A simple tune called “Texas’’ talks about all the things we’d be missing if George Strait’s beloved home state did not exist. The first line of the chorus is taken directly from one of George Strait’s greatest and most loved hits. If it wasn’t for Texas, the song goes, “Fort Worth would never cross my mind.’’

Has his label pulled the plug on 'You'll Be There?'
I was hoping that it would hit #1, but that doesn't appear to be in the cards.

Has his label pulled the plug on 'You'll Be There?' I was hoping that it would hit #1, but that doesn't appear to be in the cards. You'll Be There gained 380,000 impressions from Monday morning to Tuesday morning on the R&R panel on Mediabase. I don't see how it's getting to #1, with Toby already ahead and Sugarland closing in, but that increase is inconsistent with the "pulling the plug" theory. Still, a week has 7 days, not 1, so we'll have to watch carefully.

He'll be Blair Garner's guest on 'After Midnite' on June 28th for at least one hour, and possibly two; I'd expect most of his new CD will be aired on that show.
I guess I did speak too soon about 'pulling the plug', but it does appear that Toby appears to be headed to #1 once Rascal Flatts is done; those guys could hit #1 in BB come this Saturday's issue.
They were only 9,000 audience impressions behind Keith Urban in the current issue, and that's the smallest margin between #1 & #2 since BB changed to basing their charts on a spin-monitoring system.

Has his label pulled the plug on 'You'll Be There?' I was hoping that it would hit #1, but that doesn't appear to be in the cards. Today he gained over 500,000 in audience, and over 60 spins, on the daily R&R. The bullet is 185. The audience gains for the last 7 days are 1.8 million. He's at #3 today after passing Sugarland Looks like there's some fight left in the song after all.

Since 'You'll Be There' is still rising, I don't expect 'Texas' to be released as his next single until the end of July.

Since 'You'll Be There' is still rising, I don't expect 'Texas' to be released as his next single until the end of July. This song was serviced only to stations in Texas. That makes me doubt it will ever be promoted nationwide, and I think we'll have a different follow-up to YBT. I suppose they could re-think their plan once they see Texas in the top 40, though.

I think someone around town said the next single after Texas will be Good News/Bad News - a duet with Lee Ann Womack (awesome song!). Don't quote me on that cause I'm not really sure how reliable my source was. Not sure how well Texas will do outside of Texas. Pretty cool song but I think it kinda perpetuates the thought that Texans are elitists. But...it is George singing!
p.s. Producer Tony Brown ALSO produced my new fav artist, Matt Jenkins.

'You'll Be There' was just passed by Toby Keith in the new issue of BB, and will almost do likewise in next week's issue of R&R.
Whatever Strait's next single is, I hope it does as well as 'YBT'.
