I wanted to do a bit of a country flashback every now and then and this was the first song I chose.
I never was a fan of classic country, until I downloaded this song. Now I'm hooked. This is just so simple its amazing that it became a hit. Of course, at the time it was very controversial. Tammy's vocals kill on this song too.

I just heard it on the radio last night. It sure is a great song.
I always wanted to know if the phrase "after all, he's just a man" was intended to be sympathetic or to belittle. Any insights?

In an interview Ms Wynette said that the women folks in her family used the phrase "he's just a man" quite often. Such as when the men folks messed up, stayed out late, after an arguement..... whatever the case my be it was not used as a sympathetic statement. I always wanted to know if the phrase "after all, he's just a man" was intended to be sympathetic or to belittle. Any insights?
