Where do you think fake love will debut? (Sorry for my bad english) #3 seems likely. I'm pretty sure the top 10 is out of the question. It has no airplay, and only had half a week of sales and streaming. I'd say the 15-20 range is a safer bet.

Heh, I wish it would stick around... Drake, we need you (wow, there's four words I never thought I'd ever say). We can't let Closer break records. But I have a feeling it'll suffer the same fate as Summer Sixteen (debuts high, then plummets). Could be wrong but we'll see.
On a different note, I know this is kinda off topic, but here's the Top 10 on iTunes at the time of this typing: 1. Closer (because of course it is) 2. 24K Magic (yay!) 3. Starboy (not complaining that this is still so high) 4. Juju On Dat Beat (SCREW YOU!!!!!!!!!!) 5. Million Reasons (looks like this is the next single) 6. Heathens (I'm amazed at how long this one has stuck around) 7. Fake Love (guess we'll see how this fares) 8. Setting The World On Fire (this is only because of the album. Probably won't last) 9. Don't Wanna Know (go ahead, waste as many points in this year as you want) 10. Side To Side (still doing pretty good I'd say)

I think we can safely say now that "24K Magic" will NOT be making 2016's year-end list. It looks set for 2017 though.

johnny16 : Hopefully in three more weeks, in the aftermath of the album release and the AMAs. If that can't get it to #1, that'd suck (not helping that Closer can pass Uptown Funk for longest topper of the decade and second of all time). truemusicreviews : Yeah, but I'm not TOO disappointed. As I've said multiple times, hopefully it won't miss it by the skin of its teeth or something. The less points it wastes here in 2016, the better. To me, it's looking like it'll be to 2016-2017 what Blank Space was to 2014-2015. But again, we'll have to find out. mamooshka : This has been discussed pretty commonly nowadays, as most are dreading the thought (myself included).

Ik this is a random thing but the #1s this year were so mediocre compared to last year
2016: - Hello (Counting it; best one and it came out in 2015 smh) - Sorry - Love Yourself - Work - Panda - One Dance - Can't Stop The Feeling - Cheap Thrills - Closer
Blocked: Stressed Out, 7 Years, I Took A Pill in Ibiza, Cold Water, Heathens, Starboy (Might go to #1 who knows) and More
2015: - Blank Space (Like Hello, Counting It) - Uptown Funk (Best One) - See You Again - Bad Blood - Cheerleader - Can't Feel My Face - What Do You Mean - The Hills - Hello (I Guess I could put it here)
I mean wow how could u downgrade from the best year in the terrible 2013-Present era to this bland sh** in 2016
BTW: I put a blocked section because these are the songs that should have switched the #1 songs this year

Ik this is a random thing but the #1s this year were so mediocre compared to last year In my opinion #1s were more polarized in 2015. Some were much better ("Uptown Funk", "Can't feel my face") but some I just couldn't stand (sappy "See You Again", very weak "Bad Blood"), there was a song I constantly switched from liking to hating ("The Hills") and a song that was imo a disappointment by the artist's standards ("Hello"). #1s in 2016 are mostly safe or mediocre, sometimes decent. The spectrum of quality has been smaller than with 2015 when it comes to #1s.

This second half of 2016 is getting a bit better, but still... I think I said it in another thread, but my least favorite 2015 #1, Cheerleader, I would rate at around the same level as my most favorite pre-Can't Stop The Feeling 2016 #1, Love Yourself (fyi I don't really count Hello as a 2015 #1 tbh, although that's super against the popular trend). Of course, CSTF and Closer saved the year a bit, but these two songs still can't even compete with even WDYM, which, if I rank the 2015 #1s, easily rank in the bottom half. But 2016 is not a bad year in music though. There were A TON OF awesome songs (Stressed Out, My House, 7 Years, ITAPII, DLMD, Ride, Cold Water, Heathens, Starboy... the list just goes on...) that got blocked from the summit... Of course, many awesome 2015 songs were also blocked too (TMTC, TOL, Style, SUAD, Stitches, Wildest Dreams, Hotline Bling, etc), but at least the songs that blocked them were awesome, or at least decent. Now that this is getting irrelevant, let me try to tie this back into the YE chart, let's take a look at the top 20 YE for 2015 and the potential top 20 for 2016: 2015: 1. Uptown Funk (9.5/10) 2. Thinking Out Loud (8.5/10) 3. See You Again (9/10) 4. Trap Queen (7.5/10) 5. Sugar (6/10) 6. Shut Up And Dance (9.7/10) 7. Blank Space (9.6/10) 8. Watch Me (1.5/10) 9. Earned It (8/10 - don't hate) 10. The Hills (9.7/10) 11. Cheerleader (7.5/10) 12. Can't Feel My Face (9/10) 13. Love Me Like You Do (9/10) 14. Take Me To Church (9.6/10) 15. Bad Blood (8/10) 16. Lean On (8.5/10) 17. Want To Want Me (8/10) 18. Shake It Off (8.5/10) 19. Where Are U Now (3/10) 20. Fight Song (8/10 - don't hate) AVERAGE: 7.905/10 2016 (using mikeramp/STARBOY72's predictions just above this post) 1. Love Yourself (7.5/10) 2. Sorry (6/10) 3. One Dance (4/10) 4. Work (3/10) 5. Panda (6/10) 6. Stressed Out (9.8/10) 7. Don’t Let Me Down (9.8/10) 8. Hello (7/10) 9. Can’t Stop the Feeling (8/10) 10. Closer (8/10) 11. Cheap Thrills (7/10) 12. 7 Years (9/10 - I've gotta admit, it's kinda a good song as long as you don't listen to it too many times) 13. Needed Me (1/10) 14. My House (9.5/10) 15. I Took A Pill In Ibiza (9.8/10) 16. Work From Home (7.5/10 - don't hate) 17. This is What You Came For (7/10) 18. Cake by the Ocean (7.5/10) 19. Me, Myself & I (8.5/10) 20. Ride (8.5/10) AVERAGE: 7.22/10 7.905 (2015) vs 7.22 (2016), so honestly 2016 wasn't that bad if you look at things on a larger scale... But if we only take the top 5 for both years: Top 5 Average 2015: 8.1/10 Top 5 Average 2016: 5.3/10 While I can't say the hit songs of 2016 in general are worse, I think it's obvious which year's super-hit songs (the very top songs) are worse...

^Normally I don't comment on these opinion posts but I gotta ask, how does 2016 have 3 songs that are 9.8? Thats so specific lol Lol usually I give songs in .5 intervals, but I kinda wanted to differentiate the best songs from one another, so I gave points in .1 intervals after 9.5. And the reason I gave 9.8 to three songs... well... I really like ITAPII, DLMD, and Stressed Out about the same... (I'm gonna have real big trouble separating the three in my fave songs of 2016 lol) I like all 3 better than the 9.7 song in 2015 (SUAD), but I can never seem to enjoy them more than 9.9 songs (Style and Starboy are probably the only ones in recent memory). So idk, maybe I should spread out my system more, but for now, I guess I'm giving them all a 9.8 for the sake of the mini analysis in my other post. Giving them all 9.5s wouldn't have much effect anyway so idk why I didn't just give all songs 9.5 or above a 9.5 lol

ngl I vastly prefer 2016's #1s to 2015's lmao
like if I had to rate each #1 song of each year:
2015:
blank space: 2/10 (never liked it, always found it bland as hell) uptown funk: 6/10 (liked it at the time, still appreciate it but it's like "wake me up" where I'd be fine if I never heard it again) see you again: 1/10 (dull as fucking dishwater) bad blood: 1/10 (annoying) cheerleader: 5/10 (liked it at the time but it's nothing I'd voluntarily play much now) can't feel my face: 5/10 (liked it at the time but it's so generic) what do you mean: 6/10 (liked it at the time but he has better songs) the hills: 8/10 (don't listen to it much anymore but it's a really good song) hello: 6/10 (burned on me quickly but it's a nice song)
2016:
sorry: 8/10 (pretty much everything wdym did for me but better) love yourself: 3/10 (never really cared for it) work: 9/10 (still great) panda: 5/10 (eh) one dance 7/10 (burned on me quickly but it's a well made song, although it blocked "this girl" in the uk so) can't stop the feeling: 3/10 (bland as hell) cheap thrills: 6/10 (it's good but not great) closer: 9/10 (somehow still now completely burned on this, not their best but still really good)
granted 2016 has more songs that I really hate (7 years, me too) than 2015 (locked away) so

Yeah, for me 2015 had almost no #1s that I would genuinely consider bad (the only one in that being Bad Blood). Of that final Top 20, there were eight songs that I would no problem returning to (Uptown Funk, Shut Up and Dance, Blank Space, The Hills, Can't Feel My Face, Love Me Like You Do, Lean On, Where Are U Now) and only one seriously rotten one (I think you all can guess which one it is). I was definitely bummed that Shut Up and Dance's lack of good YouTube kept it from the Top 5.
2016, on the other hand, Hello and CSTF are the only #1s I've really cared for, though I guess Love Yourself I can enjoy ironically. And with that projected Top 20, there are five songs I genuinely love (Stressed Out, Hello, CSTF, 7 Years, and of course, I Took a Pill In Ibiza. And I guess Ride to some extent though that one has dulled on me some, I prefer Heathens). As for the garbage... Work (From Home), Panda, TIWYCF and Cake By The Ocean, and my urge to put Closer in that category rises the closer (wow no pun intended) it gets to passing Uptown Funk and One Sweet Day.
But please guys, I know that george is getting sick of this discussion coming up, so let's please try to stay on topic before I have my Pokémon use Sleep Powder on this thread.
And on an on topic note, I just noticed that it's kinda interesting to see both Sit Still, Look Pretty and Hymn For The Weekend, both songs that got their momentum in the summer (although the latter debuted in February but left after two weeks), peak lower than their predecessors, which debuted in late 2015 (and left the Hot 100 the same week no less), and have more staying power thus allowing them to end higher. Huh. Who would've thought.

i'm starting to believe bruno mars is gonna take closer spot in the next weeks, i think closer stays number 1 for 2 more weeks I'm not sure honestly. Closer's airplay hasn't peaked yet. Streams are still ridiculous and the sales are far from dropping in two weeks. Especially since the EP drops this Friday so a 13th week is likely and the 14th will be tight between 24K and Closer because they're being performed on the AMAs.

Although as I mentioned earlier on this page, Bruno has his album dropping the weekend of the AMAs. So it does have that going for it. And while the EP with Closer is dropping, one disadvantage is that having sold as many copies as it has, not as many people are likely to bother. Meanwhile, with 24K Magic not quite as strong in sales yet, the album is sure to help, although there will be a handful of "complete my album" offers on iTunes that will probably be filled in.

I hope I'm not jinxing it, but there may be tiny hope for Starboy to get #1 in the next few weeks. Closer is declining faster than expected in streaming despite the presence of the official music video (perhaps the same would've been the case for One Dance if its video had come out). Really hoping it happens.

WOO Closer broke the record! So excited! Now let's see if we can break the 2010's record and hit 15.
24K Magic is still stuck at number 6. There's been talk of it hitting number 1, but it can't even get past Broccoli and Let Me Love You so I don't see it happening in the near future.
