Could Hot make 2020 YE? I really hope it does if it can't make it this year.
It's all about longevity at that point; can it stay on long enough to beat the 20-50 rule and get enough points in 2020 to avoid being caught between years a la "You Say?"
and Panic!, Gaga, and Bradley Cooper in the top 20
Not to mention Brendon Urie having three year end entries, THREE!
Weird, but very happy for Mr. Urie! To get a Top 5 hit in "High Hopes" and almost getting that #1 with Taylor Swift in "ME!" (Blocking "ME!" at #1 is the only thing I hate off "Old Town Road"). Don't forget also a decent-sized hit in "Hey Look Ma, I Made It"

I can't say that these are the songs I wanted to keep Panic At The Disco! from being seen as a one-hit wonder outfit (I would have preferred to see "9 In The Afternoon" have become a big pop smash), but it is noteworthy nonetheless.
I wonder if we can better predict the Year End Hot 100 by looking at the top songs of the decade list. Especially for instances where some songs may be close to each other and in the same genre.

They use different methodologies. The Songs of the Decade are based on an inverse-chart position formula but the end of year charts are done on a points basis.

This is why I’m creating a point-based decade list. There are times when the inverse formula that Billboard uses contradicts their own year end lists, like E.T. being ahead of Firework

I find it immensely weird that Frank Ocean, one of the biggest R&B names of the decade, didn't get a year-end single until Slide in 2017. I know 2012 was a different time but even good kid maad city got Swimming Pools to land on the year-end list for 2013.

I would've preferred to see any of P!ATD's singles to be a hit before "High Hopes" did. Best could've been "This Is Gospel", "Victorious", or "Say Amen", although the latter sounds more of "Death Of A Bachelor" than "Pray For The Wicked", so I guess "High Hopes" was the right song to propel P!ATD back to the charts.
My predictions for the top 100 of 2019, inclusive of the November 2, 2019 chart:
My belief is there are only 3 more weeks that will be included in the list. Still enough time for Mariah Carey to be squeezed out. I thought that would have happened months ago.

Of course, it's possible that if Christmas music season starts early enough that Mariah could jump on the charts again before the chart year is out....

Sometimes has to voice the unspoken horror of every winter, I know.

Never liked the decade end lists tbh. I get why they do the inverse formula for the all time ones because if you used real points songs from the 1960's would never have any chance of making the lists but for a list within a single decade no idea why you wouldn't just use real points like there is no reason Before He Cheats shouldn't have made the 2000s list

I'm not an expert on these things, but would The Sweet Escape have had a better chance of making the 2000s decade end list? (it was #3 in 2007, but missed the top 100 entirely iirc)
you see the reflection and you want it more than the truth you yearn to be that dream you could never get to 'cause the person on the other side has always just been you oh, God, turn me into a flower

Super early prediction for current songs that will make the 2020 YE: Someone You Loved Truth Hurts Senorita Circles No Guidance HIGHEST IN THE ROOM 10,000 Hours Memories Bandit Beautiful People Good As Hell Lose You To Love Me On Chill Hot Dance Monkey
Are we all 100% sure that EARFQUAKE won't make the year end list? Tyler is such a talented artist and it would suck to just barely miss his chance at getting an actual hit after a whole decade of making music

Yeah it is nowhere close to the cutoff in anyone's predictions.
if Wild Things by Alessia Cara had the same chart run that did it did but in this year instead of 2016, it would have had a serious shot at making the 2019 YE

it peaked at #50 and had 20 weeks
Same could be said with Sit Next To Me in 2018, which had 171K points in fhas' year end predictions chart.

Sit Next To Me deserved so much more, such a great song.

Even Though I'm Leaving is probably a toss-up, I'd assume (yeah, I'm a total stan for that song).
