In the absence of anyone else posting their results, I'm going to crown myself as the most successful for 2019. Thanks very much. I hope more people choose to do it for 2020.

Random fun fact: in the week of March 9, 2019, the top 44 songs made the YE, more than any other week this year.

Random fun fact: in the week of March 9, 2019, the top 44 songs made the YE, more than any other week this year. In addition, 54 songs that week made the year end - which is weird considering it was an album bomb week.

I will say this: this is the first time since probably 2015 where all the songs in the year-end Top 10 felt big. With exception of Wow., songs like bad guy, SICKO MODE, Old Town Road, even Sucker and 7 rings, they felt culturally significant. Like look in comparison to last year, it feels like no one is listening or talking about Meant to Be or I Like It or The Middle or Psycho. Whereas with this year, it still be listened to or talked about for after the year is done. if truth hurts/thank u next was in the top 10 instead of wow it’d be the cherry on top of this statement

I agree that this year had much more artists cementing themselves (Post, Billie, Ariana, etc.)

I really want Robbery to make the year end. Rarely does a song that is so genuinely unlistenable AND laughably incompetent come around, and i would much like to see everyone roast the song getting in at the very bottom of the YE Man being right has never felt so hollow. But alas, let the roasting begin Wow...... this didn’t age well. RIP

I agree that it didn't feel like there were very many great or terrible songs in 2019's music year, but I'm glad not to be alone in the opinion. I'm going to guess that this is one of those transitional years that shows the music world trying to figure out what will be the next big thing. This year felt like 2008 where music is bridged between Southern Hip Hop, contemporary R&B, post-grunge that dominated the 2000s and the upcoming electropop/EDM and indie sound that'll dominate the first half of the 2010s.

Exactly. We will see what dominates the early 2020s soon, I suspect.

2019 is an interesting year to go over now that the list is out because while yes there are only two truly bad songs (SYL and Robbery), there are also only a couple great songs (all the Billie Eilish Songs, OTR, Mo Bamba), and even then, does anyone else feel like this year lacked color? I think back to 2017 in while there were more bad songs as a whole, there were more interesting songs to talk about: Redbone, Sign of the Times, Slide, Praying, DNA. Even songs that aren't great but good, it's so much fun to talk about them and how they even got popular: Love Galore, Magnolia, All Time Low, goosebumps, Caroline, Rockstar, Bodak Yellow, Black Beatles, Unforgettable, XO Tour Llif3, iSpy, even Paris. They're interesting spots from artists I never would've expected to chart or like but I somehow like them. Idk, it might just be me but I kind of have a hard time even articulating why best hit songs are the best hit songs beyond being better than the rest by proxy. The worst stuff is easy but outside of the great songs I have parenthesized. It's like: they got popular, I've liked songs from them before, end of explanation. Looking back from today i'm probably going to leave Robbery off my worst lists. It's bad but it's not bad or misogynistic enough to justify bullying him after his passing like everyone did with Sad!

Old Town Road was DEFINITELY not #6 in terms of success. Definitely can see why Billboard abandoned this system in the 90s

also the only songs on the YE where all of 1. rimetm's predictions, 2. my inverse point system, and 3. the 1-100/2-99 formula predicted their final positions exactly correctly were If I Can't Have You (#29) and Hey Look Ma, I Made It (#61)

Looking at the songlist, he based it mostly on the Billboard YE Hot 100 Top 21 (skipping Happier, Sicko Mode, Girls Like You, Suge, and Drip Too Hard while adding Sweet But Psycho, Middle Child, and Someone You Loved.) He also placed songs that became a hit within September-November (Circles, Lose You To Love Me, Good as Hell, and Memories).

I felt like adding those songs helped better define the year as the first 3 he skipped was 2018

I felt like adding those songs helped better define the year as the first 3 he skipped was 2018 Especially since those songs (as well as Thank U, Next) were already in his 2018 USoP.

I just realized that if Youngblood's entire chart run was within one chart year, it could have been a top 20 or even a top 15 YE hit

PS: I remember when people were sure that Speechless and Beautiful would both miss, but the former re-charted and the latter scraped by.

I think it took quite a while for anyone to realize just how low the floor was going to be for the 2019 YE Hot 100.
