Hot 100 Year-End Predictions (2019) - Year 6

For the unaware, we have no idea how many weeks are actually left in the chart year - so much so that there are 5 different combinations of weeks that are plausible -

Scenario 1 - November 24th, 2018 - November 16th, 2019 (52 Weeks)
Scenario 2 - December 1st, 2018 - November 23rd, 2019 (52 Weeks)
Scenario 3 - November 24th, 2018 - November 23rd, 2019 (53 Weeks)
Scenario 4 - December 1st, 2018 - November 30th, 2019 (53 Weeks)
Scenario 5 - November 24th, 2018 - November 30th, 2019 (54 Weeks)

All of these are possible (though I seriously doubt scenario 2), so I’m going to be posting a full 150 for all 5 scenarios.

A few notes on my formula - It’s purely “One Place, One Value”. The system isn’t close to an inverse point system or anything but a week at #1 is equal to any other week at #1. I do this to limit input (because if I didn’t, it’d be a pretty slippery slope down to simon’s year end formula for last year and…. Yeah, no.) This means that the top of the list is just wrong - We all know that Old Town Road will be #1. It’s just unfortunate my formula doesn’t. However, it actually might be the most accurate formula later down for reasons I will not disclose so I do not become obsolete - It got Believer & Mi Gente right last year.

Also, I know why billboard has the year ends set to end in December, but since they use an inverse system for the decade chart, they can easily start and end it when the actual decade starts and ends. Ending it this early is really stupid. Although not as stupid as HIDING THE CHART BEHIND A PAYWALL

Plus I’ll do charts with both only 2010s weeks and with weeks from 2009 and 2020 (for songs that placed on the 2010 and 2019 year ends)

The chart was literally leaked through the Billboard artist histories -- on Halloween day! And when did the charts end? On the last week of September! Thus, it's not a chart that Billboard is updating every week, and nor are they intending to update it to the end of the decade -- if they did, the chart that they leaked would've been to late October or mid October at the latest, not over one month earlier.

They are not going to update it and it is final. And as iHype said, ending it a little bit earlier is a way for Billboard to get ahead of the game in the decade end system.

Yep. Even if she released the remix last week it wouldn't have made the year end chart unless 30 Nov counts. If it does count then I think releasing it today should've been enough, just. It'll probably end up about 98 in my predictions in that scenario.

I’ve been working on this list for most of the year now, and that was despite having the 2014-2019 predictions on this thread to help me out. Plus, I’m starting my senior year of college next semester, which is why I’ve been using all of my spare time to finish the 2010 list as quickly as possible. Especially since I’m trying to calculate the top 200 songs of every given year (not just 100) and compile it so that I can rank the top artists too.

Even if it doesn't land in the predicted top 100 though it still could've gotten close. Next week it's gonna maybe push past Miss Me More, if they'd dropped it earlier it could've beaten Go Loko and Boyfriend and at least given it a fighting chance. There's inevitably gonna be margin of error.

I know for Taylor herself she probably doesn't care much at all about landing on the year end list so this is somewhat pointless to complain about but still seems like you'd want to release it earlier once traction started wavering as it was sliding down the 30's. There's gotta be manager people to watch things like that right

Just so you know, when there's two or more songs with the same points, I rank them base on their peak, so Walk Me Home didn't make the charts because both Good As Hell and Never Really Over made the Top 20, while Walk Me Home didn't.

As you guys can see, Sunflower (and to an extent, Without Me) have a HUMONGOUS lead against Old Town Road, and OTR won't even catch em even if next two weeks is also counted. Another interesting point is that Talk You Out of It did not even enter Top 110.

Looking over the UK Decade chart makes me realize that they have much better tastes than us. In addition to all of the Ed Sheeran songs (which are all amazing, don’t @ me), they also include Rather Be, Pompeii, Symphony, I Took a Pill in Ibiza, Ghost, Get Lucky, Lean On, Chandelier, Lush Life, Unforgettable, Set Fire to the Rain and Feel it Still, and those are just songs I love that aren’t making our decade end list. They also managed to get a bunch of our biggest/best songs on their decade list too. And they only have 3 songs that I dislike.

No. The end-of-decade lists use an inverse points system (where every week at #1 is equal, every week at #2 is equal but weighed less than #1, etc.), while the end-of-year lists take into account weekly point performances.

Nope. End of decade is on an inverse system, and end of year is off of real points. Which leads Billboard to results on the decade lists that contradict the year end lists. At least that’s how the Billboard charts work, idk how other countries do it.

The decade end list feels weird, especially given how the point system they used and how some of the classic hits of the 2010s didnt make the list, Lean On for example. I know it's all based on the chart performance at the time but Lean On, Feel It, Pompeii etc all feel bigger than One More Night by Maroon for example.

One More Night was #1 for so long that it's going to dominate any decade chart even if it would likely never have hit #1 if YouTube had been taken into account then.

One More Night was a #1 single for 9 weeks whereas none of those other songs hit #1

Hate to say it because the song is bad and the fact that it's above Payphone is an injustice for the ages but I do feel like it belongs there, if you listened to the radio at the time you'd know that it was played all the time pretty much nonstop even after subsequent singles had faded away
