There's no such thing as a "general public" anymore. Fact. It's used here generally to refer to average pop music fans. And even that that's really vague. Was there ever a "general public"? As far as marketing goes, I think there was a "general public" back in the early ages of tv and radio, when there were very few options for media so pretty much most of the population tuned into the same programming. They were the "average", or "general" publics. As more and more networks, and radio, and then the internet became available, those publics became segmented to the point where now just small portions of the population tune into any one medium.

Apparently this is going up on non-TIDAL streaming services tomorrow.

How is the album different? This is a list of changes from the different iterations: Ultra Light Beam: The choir is mixed better. Everyone’s vocals except Chancer the Rapper have a lot more reverb. There’s also new lyrics from Chance the Rapper and Kirk Franklin. Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1: Background vocals at the end of Kanye’s verse and a little on the hook. The snare isn’t as loud as the original release. Beat is a lot more clear. Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2: New mix includes the addition of a bass line beginning at the 1:08 mark. Feedback: It’s shorter. Kanye’s vocals are more balanced with the beat now. The bass is also a lot more mixed. Beat is a lot more different in general. Highlights: Vocals now sit behind the beat. Young Thug’s vocals are a lot more clear and less harsh. Freestyle 4: Vocals clarified, weird ass noises and strings added to the background, bass added right before Desiigner verse at 1:31 mark. Waves: Kanye’s first verse is re-recorded. Lots more echos. The snare doesn’t make you deaf anymore! FML: Vocal’s are more mixed. They sit on top of the beat now. Background vocals added. 30 Hours: The shoutout/adlib outro isn’t in time with the beat like it is in the original. He added the pause from the SoundCloud version for the Victoria’s Secret line. No More Parties in LA: Transition to Facts is smooth. Not as jarring as it was before. Facts: Piano line from MSG is back but is barely noticiable. Synths are a lot louder. Fade: Way more minimal. The bass line is back too. More like the Yeezys SZN 2 performance. Doesn’t have all the cool sounds from the previous album version and the transitions aren’t as clean as before. It actually ends with an outro instead of cutting off. Kanye West updates 12 tracks on The Life of deletedAlso to note the album will continue to go through changes throughout the next few months on the different services I hate the addition of the "no one can judge" line during Chance's verse on ULB. It throws it off for me.

There's also a small change in Famous at the beginning of the Bam Bam sample.

The noises and strings were in my original version of Freestyle 4. Also, Chance's verse has not been altered on the most recent version of Ultralight Beam. FML also hasn't been touched. At the end of the day, the changes (if any) to 99% of the tracks were so minimal that they aren't even worth mentioning. The most obvious one remains the lyric change in Famous. I can tell that a lot of these people citing changes are hearing the album for the first time, now that it has been sent to other streaming services. #experttrolls

You can even hear how it is mixed differently into the track. A lot of the changes they are citing are correct. The Consequence of Sound article, KanyeToThe, and Reddit forums all have continuously followed the changes when it was still on just Tidal. I have the original downloaded from when it was first released and I can hear the differences in the mix and little nuances that have either been taken out or added.

Hmm...maybe my version on Tidal didn't update, which is weird, because Silver Surfer Interlude changed (the name, LOL), along with Famous and Wolves...

9 tracks in the US Spotify Top 50
5 Famous 7 Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2 10 Pt. 2 23 Ultralight Beam 24 Waves 38 FML 41 Feedback 42 Real Friends 48 Wolves
Missing: Lowlights, Highlights, Freestyle 4, I Love Kanye, Frank's Track, Surf Interlude, 30 Hours, No More Parties in LA, Facts, Fade
Of the 10 tracks not in the top 50, 4 (30 Hours, NMPILA, Facts, Fade) are "bonus tracks", 3 (Lowlights, Frank's Track, Silver Surfer Intermission) are interludes that don't feature Kanye, 2 (Freestyle 4, I Love Kanye) are basically throaway freestyles...and then there's "Highlights"
Strong showing for a below-expectations album that actually came out almost 2 months ago.

Projected to debut at #1 on next week's chart with 60k SPS, which would make it the first album in history to debut at #1 based solely on streaming (provided sales from his website aren't reported and Billboard allows it to chart).

I love his music in general but I must say the sooner this "era" is over the better *listens to 808s and Heartbreak*

I respect your opinion, for the most part, but you actually prefer 808s and Heartbreak to this, which is essentially a distillation of all of his previous works? I mean...I get that 808s was what kicked off this whole sad-sack emo rapper movement and all but I still place it as my least favorite of all his albums.

I just think that "deleted" is not very distinctive album. Maybe I'm just over him a bit in general: there are Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, Drake, Future, Kevin Gates, Bryson Tiller etc who all have released great albums in the past year or two. I just hoped that Kanye would be above them in quality but doesn't seem so, quite the opposite it seems. But it's just me perhaps. Because Kanye USED to be the one to watch really. But I guess it happens to all super stars in some point (it did happen to Jacko, Madonna, Prince...)
I do appreciate his vision though, it's very KANYE. But the music is not up there to match it. Even Wolves (chorus by usually untouchable Sia) disappoints me.

Hmm...well, sorry you aren't that into the new album, especially as a long-time fan. Hopefully, he can get you back on board with his next release. Of those artists you mentioned, the only ones I have any use for are Drake and Kevin Gates. Even at Kanye's worst, I feel he is leagues above the others.

I have had problems with him before too though, Graduation was very difficult to get into and it didn't come at the right time to me. Maybe that's why 808s hit even harder than I thought
When he's great, he's REALLY great

Oops...I somehow forget to pick Kendrick from your list, too, but yeah, I dunno, I feel like, to some degree, I find genius in all of Kanye's work, even 808s.

deleted is definitely one of the only Kanye albums I don't find myself going back to to listen to at all. It's not a bad album but it never clicked with me. I really love "Waves" tho, wish it was longer, more fleshed out.

I also feel Kanye is leagues above the others. There are some great rappers right now, but most of the times you listen to them it's like that song could've been released by someone else. Kanye is Kanye, it's like there's no one out there doing what he does. Take Famous, for instance, which is actually one of the most accessible songs on the album, you have Rihanna covering Nina Simone, you have a Sister Nancy sample over a hip-hop beat and then you have Nina Simone closing off the song. What other rapper would've released that song?
