I really wish she'd tried to make this more of a song by itself rather than simply having her "Same Love" hook double as the hook for this. Those lines stand out very awkwardly compared to the rest of this song. I love the overall sentiment, but lyrically she could have done better/put more effort in.

You do know that this song existed long before Same Love though, right?

It's a good idea imo, and they've done this with other songs, like Alicia did a solo version of Empire State of Mind, Skylar Grey did a solo version of Coming Home, Emeli Sande did a solo version of Read All About It, Rihanna did a solo version of Love the Way You Lie. I think it's good since obviously with these big hits people like the chorus in them, and it's common to hear people saying they would've preferred the song without the rap.

Ah, I stand corrected. Thought I had read somewhere that Same Love sampled She Keeps Me Warm. Never mind.

It appears to be Top 50 already...hmmmmm. At the very least it'd be interesting if this could break into the Top 40 here, as "Same Love" failed to do so (that peaked somewhere between 45 and 42, I believe).

Just watched the video. I smiled the whole time, it was really nice. :)
Should this become a hit on AC, would that be some sort of first? Has a song specifically about same-sex love ever broke the AC Top 40 before?

But that one doesn't necessarily give away the gender of the subject of the song to the listener, whereas this one blatantly does.
