Exactly. Pull a Britney and sneak Red Hot Kinda Slay onto the new album just so I can see a flawless performance.

I still love Your Body, Let There Be Love, Just A Fool, Blank Page, Red Hot Kinda Love, Cease Fire, Sing For Me and the FLAWLESS Lotus intro. <3
She was in such a bad place in 2012, and things just kept getting worse for her.
Looking back, I'm so happy she promoted "Burlesque," too, because that style is absolutely perfect for her.
Christina is the artist who gave me my adoration for powerhouse vocalists (ITYU, Genie), and so I don't think I'd completely stop supporting her. She's an artist who lets the music do the talking, and I love that. She absolutely marches to the beat of her own drum, and she's so resilient and creative when she's inspired by something.
I have this feeling she wants it this time, and I can't fucking wait.

During the bridge was when I was absolutely hooked on her as a kid. My friend let me borrow her CD on the bus and it contained the original mix and I was borderline obsessed! Michael didn't get that sh!t back for like 3 months. Kept a residency in my clunky Sony CD player without Anti-Skip Still gorgeous. The vocals are to die for entering the bridge.

The fact she was such a fat troll and performed everything else but Your Body is the thing that irks me most about the Lotus era! One of her best Pop singles period.

Your Body is a bonafide jam, too bad it didn't get to smash! I've always loved that song!

AAAAAYYYeah! I liked the original WAGW...until I saw the video and heard that mix. That baroque breakdown was just...stellar. When I'm playing Song Pop and Christina comes up, I realize just how disposable her debut was though. I remember buying it because, like Ariana, she was sold as the cheesy TV actress girl who could actually sing. I can't even find it now though. Those big debut era singles aside, I feel her career started with Stripped. Although...it kinda ended with Stripped too.

YESSSSSS. Went back and listened to most of Lotus. Very decent album...solid B/B+ I would say. Blank Page, Sing For Me, Just A Fool, Your Body, Red Hot Kind Of Love, Let There Be Love, and Light Up The Sky are fantastic, which is about half the album. There isn't a song I HATE at all. Yeah, it's her worst album (don't shade her debut; I love it!), but it still isn't that bad. It definitely has some highlights. 'Your Body' and 'Let There Be Love' have actually become two of my favorite songs of hers.

I loved Back to Basics even though it seemed like they were actively trying to screw it over from Day 1. Like, you can probably search all the complaints I had about how that era played out so I won't whine about it again, but absolutely loved the direction and loved the music. It was also pretty successful for her even after making some monumentally idiotic decisions with marketing and such.
Lotus is probably my least favorite cd from her mostly because it seems like her least involved cd. Like, I don't think she gave a shit about that cd or the music on it lol. Still had some great pop music though. I just hope the new cd, even if it only sells 10 copies, is a return of her being actively passionate and involved with her own music.

Oh no, sis. There is only ONE artist who gets subtle shade from me and I won't name HER. Some crazed, escaped loony bin stans think she is the greatest artist of all time, best selling, etc. but we all know that is not true. However, I LOVE me some Xtina. That said, I feel like the average person quotes Stripped as her watershed, career-defining moment where I would argue in favor of Back To Basics. She definitely lost some public favor after Stripped and it continued from there. However, despite the fact that she got her years mixed up when she was doing promo for the album, there is not ONE bad song on the B2B album. I've always maintained it was better than Stripped. However, I have gone back to Stripped lately and it has a lot less filler than I remember. Like, it actually is a pretty perfect album from front to back. I think I just preferred the songs and stylings of the B2B songs better. Side note: I just realized that I think the ONLY tour merch I have EVER purchased was for that tour - the big picture book she put out. At least, I THINK that was for the tour.

I don't thnk Lotus is a bad album, by any means, it's just bad if you measure it by Christina's usual standards of m perfectionism.
I still would like to know if Christina was pressured to puf an album out by her label because of her judging spot on The Voice, because it felt like she was (possibly) forced to put out an album and knew she wasn't ready.
Honestly, people just love to trash Christina without looking at things objectively, and she doesn't deserve most of that, based on (most) of her past work.
Back To Basics is one of my favorite albums; it's flawless from start to finish. I love how Christina totally immersed herself into making the perfect album for that era, from the songs to the tour, album art, and videos.
I enjoy Stripped, but I thnk I love B2B more as a whole, and B2B had such a perfect mix of variety and styles that I don't thnk Christina has manged to capture on any other album.

Lotus had a lot of great tracks, but I don't even think the problem had to do with the song writing or melodies but moreso with the fact that it sounded not mastered or finalized at all. The songs actually hurt to listen to because they have such bad sound quality. If someone actually hired a good engineer and mastered the album perfectly then the album would literally be 50x better.

That's the problem I have with Lotus as well, a lot of it just sounds really sloppy.

For the longest time, I thought there was something wrong with my CD. Like...the fireworks in Light Up The Sky sound so bad and muddled, especially when turned up loud. Otherwise, I LOVE that song. The second verse breaks my heart. Alex Da Kidd production really needs clean mixing and mastering because of his heavy drums, otherwise it sounds rough. Same thing happened with Demons by Imagine Dragons.

I just KNEW something was wrong with my audio speakers in my car while playing "We Remain" and "Light Up The Sky". Those are some of the worst audio on CD ever.

Yeah, I still play the single version of YB because the album version is mixed considerably lower.

Honestly, people just love to trash Christina without looking at things objectively, and she doesn't deserve most of that, based on (most) of her past work. To be completely honest, before I joined this forum, I'd really never seen people talk about Christina (or most other singers, really) that way. I believe the closest I'd heard people discuss her that way was after the National Anthem flub, which was an expected response. No denying, I know this woman is not for everyone by any means, but I guess I just find it very disturbing. I've always liked Lotus, but I can understand why some comparing it to Stripped or B2B might not care for it.

It's really a lot of the self proclaimed forum music critics that do most of the trashing in regards to any artist. The average consumer isn't that critical, and normally wouldn't even care to comment on every tiny aspect on "divas" careers.

Yeah, the mixing of Lotus was majorly flawed, although I will admit it does bother me on a few tracks more than others.
Let There Be Love, Red Hot Kinda Love and Your Body are okay, while Sing For Me, Light Up The Sky, Best Of Me Blank Page and Cease Fire are flawed, but in those cases it adds a sense of imperfection for me that still works. The songs are flawed in terms of vocals and production, but I feel like it adds character to a few of the songs, because Christina's life was messy and chaotic at that time, and I can actually see how that translated into some of the songs. Granted, I would have LOVED better mixes, but I feel like the roughness of the record might be a reflection of where she was emotionally and personally at that time. Christina made her best albums when she was fulfilled in her personal life and she had control; during the making of Lotus (and during the era), she seemingly lost that confidence and control, and I think the roughness of the record shows that in a sense.

It just seems as if there are gigantic mistakes at the the launch of all of Christina's albums from B2B onward that hindered what could have been iconic eras.
B2B: The second CD literally could've had an interlude or something tacked on to get the double certification. Just insane that RCA would release it with such a minimal amount of time needed to claim a double sale, especially when you couldn't buy it for under $16.
Bionic: While I myself love NMT, if they would have just stuck to Christina's original vision and released the album without tacking on the fluff, I believe it all would have turned out differently. And that album artwork!
Lotus: The signs were all there for a huge comeback hit with "Your Body," even Julie Pilat from KIIS was trumping up its hit potential months before release. And then it leaked and RCA...did nothing. And then...no explicit. And then...no performance. One of the biggest mysteries in pop music as to what happened with that single.

I find it (midly) amusing that Christina's label served the (Love) "Your Body" edit to radio, because BOTH the explicit and the Martin remix tacked on tou the Deluxe edition are 20x better than what radio was given.
Hell, the explicit version captures what the essence of the song is, I mean just one word takes it from safe as f**k to complete filthy JAM.

I still can't believe we only got that performance with The Roots as the only Your Body performance, so weird because she really did serve with the single and the video.

I never understood why the explicit wasn't made available anywhere, especially since Lotus had a PA sticker.
