Some parts were rough, but it was definitely her best televised performance in years. The Nas cameo was a bit random, but a nice surprise. Speaking of Nas, wasn't he supposed to be on "Still Dirrty?" I wonder what happened with that.

The bitch showed up!! I am so happy for her! That was a solid performance! Things seem to be off to a great start this era and I could not be more excited!
Those breasts though...damn.

^^ Agree that this performance was good in comparison to the bar she set during her solo performances from the past few years; however, for Christina's standards from even as recent as her B2B era, this performance was pretty vocally terrible- strained, throaty, devoid of the soul which she was once known for. What is most disturbing to me is that her vocal tone seems permanently changed for the worse. For example, whereas several years ago she would only resort to singing from her throat for her higher range notes (5th octave), she is now throat-singing for mid-range notes for her (lower/mid 4th range) with considerable effort and strain. Is is that poor technique which gives her that Kermit-the-frog sound on her mid and higher range notes and which can further damage her vocal chords. She should consider working with a vocal coach.

There were a couple rough moments, but honestly, it was miles better than what I was anticipating. She looked like a star and the production was A+.

Sounded great and looked phenomenal. Not that I needed to be impressed--she sounded beautiful in most of the "Say Something" performances I'd seen.

I'm hoping and praying she works with a vocal coach sometime during the next era, because she needs to perserve what she has if she wants to be performing for a long time. She's given some good performances and some rough ones, but she's literally not going to be able to sing anymore if she doesn't make some adaptations. This is why I'm hoping for more material in the vein of SS, Save Me From Myself, etc. Her lower register is still intact, and she sounds beautiful; singing more in that range would be great, and she wouldn't be straining or showing her vocal weaknesses that way. The main issue I have with Christina nowadays is that she still seems to express a desire to sing in ways that showcases her weaknesses more than her strengths; if she started working with a coach and adapted her style to suit her strengths, she could still be great.

Agree 100%. She has suffered quite a bit of vocal range recession over the past 5 or so years, but she continues to try to sing in the upper register which she was once able to handle with ease. That and the throat-singing both seem to have contributed to the obvious damage to her vocals. Although this damage may not be able to be repaired by a vocal coach, surely prevention of further damage might be able to be halted. Thoughts ?

Really, I thought her stage presence was great, but those vocals were pretty terrible.

She needs to tone it down a bit with those high notes, she is screaming not singing when it comes to those high notes. I'm afraid she won't be able to pull off a good performance in the future if she continues screaming in this way! I loved how she looked though and her charisma was fantastic <3
Can't wait for her next era :)

That and the throat-singing both seem to have contributed to the obvious damage to her vocals. Although this damage may not be able to be repaired by a vocal coach, surely prevention of further damage might be able to be halted. Thoughts ? The damage has clearly already been done in some sense, and there's solid evidence to support that Christina drinks & smokes (the frequency with which she does would obviously be a big factor in vocal health). Her likeness to overdo almost every live performance (while using her voice incorrectly in the process), certainly would be a huge issue along with any drinking, smoking, etc. Christina is not one for technique, so I'm sure IF she used the feedback from a vocal coach, any little improvement could serve her well. When watching the performance last night, she had some decent moments, but terrible vocal habits only become more obvious when the other factors (power, tone, range), aren't there to hide bad technique. At this point, I just don't know what it's going to take for Christina to realize if she wants to sing, changes are absolutely crucial, and she can't get away with what she could a few years ago. Time will tell, but I'll be so upset if she continues to squander what she has.

The vocal critics have arrived! Waiting for the weight watchers next. :kii: She was at 30 Rock earlier and opened up an unlimited tab for fans at Starbucks and Meredith even gave her a shout out! {More Pics} Generous Queen, how sweet of her.

Watched that performance. It was pretty standard Xtine of the last few years but she looked really good and seemed like she was having fun.

I liked her latest performance. I know she doesn't have the best vocal technique and I hear that Kermit like sound one poster mentioned. However I didn't think her voice was straining all that much and she didn't do as many unnecessary runs as she usually does. So for her I think it was a pretty solid performance.
