Random Videos Of The Day:Artist: Steve Holy Single: "Put Your Best Dress On" Writers: Billy Austin, Dillon Dixon, Don Pfrimmer, D.Vincent Williams Album: Non-Album Single Label: Curb Year Released: May, 2004 Radio and Records Peak: #28 Billboard Peak: #26 Artist: Steve Holy Single: "It's My Time (Waste It If I Want To)" Album: Non-Album Single Label: Curb Year Released: August, 2005 Radio and Records Peak: #52 Billboard Peak: #59 Decided to give you two non-album songs by Steve Holy (there are many of these with Curb records ;)). "Put Your Best Dress On" was supposed to be a lead single for Steve Holy's album that was originally scheduled for a late 2004 release. Unfortunately the single would die inside the top 30 after 19 weeks and the album would be put on hold. The second try to get this album out was the single "Go Home" (maybe his best release) in mid 2005. "Go Home" would only peak at #43 on R&R though. Then there's the second song here, "It's My Time (Waste It If I Want To)". This single would only manage a #52 peak in late 2005 and Curb would hold off once again. Then "Brand New Girlfriend" was sent to radio in January of 2006 and it got to #1 after 36 weeks. Even though I enjoyed the song, the three that were released before it were clearly better. Week Ending: 9/24/200420. Julie Roberts - Break Down Here 21. SHeDaisy - Come Home Soon 22. Blake Shelton - Some Beach 23. Darryl Worley - Awful Beautiful Life 24. Shania Twain w/Billy Currington - Party For Two 25. Blue County - That's Cool 26. Montgomery Gentry - You Do Your Thing 27. Trick Pony - The Bride 28. Steve Holy - Put Your Best Dress On29. Reba McEntire - He Gets That From Me 30. Jimmy Buffett w/Martina McBride - Trip Around The Sun Week Ending: 9/30/200540. Blake Shelton - Nobody But Me 41. Jeff Bates - Good People 42. Jamey Johnson - The Dollar 43. Trace Adkins - Honky Tonk Badonkadonk 44. Ray Scott - My Kind Of Music 45. Trick Pony - Ain't Wastin Good Whiskey On You 46. Sawyer Brown - They Don't Understand 47. Buddy Jewell - So Gone 48. Van Zant - Nobody Gonna Tell Me What To Do 49. Luke Stricklin - American By God's Amazing Grace 50. Brad Paisley - When I Get Where I'm Going 51. Tim McGraw - My Old Friend 52. Steve Holy - It's My Time (Waste It If I Want To)53. Lisa Brokop - Big Picture 54. Miranda Lambert - Kerosene 55. Danielle Peck - I Don't BTW: Buddy Jewell's "So Gone" peaked at #47 here as well and it didn't even chart on Billboard. That's crazy. Probably a low audience to spins ratio and a bunch of songs lingering between the 10-15 range on Billboard caused that discrepancy.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Warren Brothers f/Sara Evans Single: "That's The Beat Of A Heart" Album: King Of Nothing Label: BNA Video Director: Shaun Silva Year Released: March, 2000 Radio and Records Peak: #18 Billboard Peak: #22
"That's The Beat Of A Heart" was the lead single for the Warren Brothers album King Of Nothing and features Sara Evans. This would be the first time they hit the top 20 and they would also hit the top 20 with their follow up "Move On" (#17). They had their singles "Where Does It Hurt" (#33) and "Hey Mr. President" (#28) make the top 40 but those would be it. Their last charting single was "Change" (#55) on R&R. They were dropped by BNA after "Change" peaked. Their last official single was "Hey Mr. God" in 2010.
They have been much more successful as songwriters. Some of their writing credits include "The Lucky One" and "Red Umbrella" by Faith Hill, "Wrong Baby Wrong" and "Anyway" by Martina McBride, "Feel That Fire" by Dierks Bentley, "Red Solo Cup" by Toby Keith, "Little Bit Of Everything" by Keith Urban, and "Felt Good On My Lips" by Tim McGraw. They also wrote two of Tim's greatest songs that remained album tracks "Blank Sheet Of Paper", "Train #10" and "Between The River And Me". They also had their own reality show in 2005 called Barely Famous that aired on CMT.
This song was also part of the Where The Heart Is soundtrack as it's featured song. The song also appears in the movie multiple times. It stars Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd.
Week Ending: 9/1/2000
1. Lonestar - What About Now 2. Alan Jackson - It Must Be Love 3. Jo Dee Messina - That's The Way 4. SHeDaisy - I Will...But 5. Keith Urban - Your Everything 6. Aaron Tippin - Kiss This 11. Faith Hill w/Tim McGraw - Let's Make Love 12. LeAnn Rimes - I Need You 13. Vince Gill - Feels Like Love 14. Travis Tritt - Best Of Intentions 15. Martina McBride - There You Are 16. Billy Gilman - One Voice 17. Tracy Lawrence - Lonely 18. Warren Brothers f/Sara Evans - That's The Beat Of A Heart-------- :) 19. Phil Vassar - Just Another Day In Paradise 20. John Michael Montgomery Gentry - The Little Girl

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Big & Rich Single: "Wild West Show" Writers: John Rich, Big Kenny, Blair Daly Album: Horse Of A Different Color Label: Warner Bros. Nashville Video Director: Big & Rich Year Released: December 15th, 2003 Radio and Records Peak: #20 Billboard Peak: #21
"Wild West Show" was the debut single for Big & Rich. One of the first songs they wrote for their debut album Horse Of A Different Color, the song is about forgiveness and showcases 19th century imagery for a feuding couple. The song would go on to peak at #20 on R&R in April of 2004 and spent 15 weeks on the chart. It would be the follow up that really put the name Big & Rich on the map with "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)" (#9 on R&R). Blair Daly helped Kenny and John write this song. Daly has written many songs for other artist including "Smile" by Uncle Kracker and "Stand" by Rascal Flatts.
Too bad this song was so overshadowed by the success of "Save A Horse". The entire Horse Of A Different Color album was so unique and different, yet so fun. Some of the material was out there but somehow they managed to make it work and come together into one of the best albums I've ever heard. Their next album was good but not nearly as good as their debut and each album got a little worse IMO. This song has amazing imagery and instrumentation.
Week Ending: 4/9/2004: R&R
1. Kenny Chesney w/Uncle Kracker - When The Sun Goes Down 2. Keith Urban - You'll Think Of Me 3. Rascal Flatts - Mayberry 4. Buddy Jewell - Sweet Southern Comfort 5. John Michael Montgomery - Letters From Home 6. Sara Evans - Perfect 7. Tracy Lawrence - Paint Me A Birmingham 8. George Strait - Desperately 9. Gretchen Wilson - Redneck Woman 10. Blue County - Good Little Girls (peak) 11. Lonestar - Let's Be Us Again 12. Brooks & Dunn - That's What She Gets For Loving Me 13. Gary Allan - Songs About Rain 14. Montgomery Gentry - If You Ever Stopped Loving Me 15. Carolyn Dawn Johnson - Simple Life 16. Dierks Bentley - My Last Name 17. Clint Black - Spend My Time 18. SHeDaisy - Passenger Seat 19. I actually love Wild West Show. You have the other new duo, Blue County at #10 with Good Little Girls. They peaked at #11 in Billboard, the same peak Big & Rich would get with Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy.

"Good Little Girls" was actually my least favorite single they ever put out, and of course it was their biggest single. "That's Cool", "That Summer Song", "Firecrackers And Ferris Wheels" and "I Get To" were fantastic. I was a little surprised how badly "Firecrackers And Ferris Wheels" bombed as it never even cracked the top 60 in 2006.

It would have been nice to see a 'new duo' war in the 2000s between Blue County and Big & Rich. Kind of like the 'new group' war during the mid 1990s between Ricochet and Lonestar (I'll let everyone decide who won that one).

"Wild West Show" is great. Probably my favorite track from Horse of a Different Color, with maybe only "Holy Water" beating it out.

Random Video Of The Night:
Artist: SHeDaisy Single: "I Will...But" Writers: Kristyn Osborn, Jason Deere Album: The Whole SHeBang Label: Lyric Street Video Director: Shaun Silva Year Released: March, 2000 Radio and Records Peak: #2 Billboard Peak: #2
"I Will...But" was the third single from SHeDaisy's debut album, The Whole SHeBang. It was also the third consecutive top 10 single to start off their career. Unfortunately they would only grace the top 10 one more time with 2005's "Don't Worry 'Bout A Thing" (#6 on R&R). This song was helped written by Jason Deere who has helped SHeDaisy with many of their songs as well as being a key part of them being signed. He also has helped with acts such as Due West, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband, and Little Big Town. He is also a producer and re-mixer. He's the one behind the re-mixed version of "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk".
I remember this song always on the radio when I was a little kid. I remember thinking how catchy and fun a song this was. I instantly get memories of being 10 years old again when I hear this song.
Week Ending: 9/29/2000: R&R
1. Jo Dee Messina - That's The Way 2. SHeDaisy - I Will...But 3. Aaron Tippin - Kiss This 4. John Michael Montgomery - The Little Girl 5. Toby Keith - Country Comes To Town (I've said it before, but how in the world have I absolutely no memory of this?) 6. George Strait - Go On 7. Faith Hill w/Tim McGraw - Let's Make Love 8. LeAnn Rimes - I Need You 9. Travis Tritt - Best Of Intentions 10. Vince Gill - Feels Like Love 11. Phil Vassar - Just Another Day In Paradise 12. Martina McBride - There You Are 13. Dixie Chicks - Without You 14. Brad Paisley - We Danced 15. Tracy Lawrence - Lonely
* Six female acts in the top 15. Wow how times have changed. :( 12 of the 15 I genuinely enjoy too. ;)

Random Single Of The Day:
Artist: Lonestar Single: "Everything's Changed" Writers: Larry Boone, Paul Nelson, Richie McDonald Album: Crazy Nights Label: BNA Producer: Don Cook, Wally Wilson, Year Released: June 29th, 1998 Radio and Records Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #2
"Everything's Changed" was the final single from Lonestar's album Crazy Nights in June of 1998. This was also the final single with John Rich, who was let go from the band during it's chart run. This song was co-written by Larry Boone who was a recording artist in the 80's and early 90's. He had one top 10 single in 1988 with "Don't Give Candy To A Stranger" (#10). After this song was finished in October of 1998, Lonestar changed their music and image. They ditched their cowboy hats and made a more contemporary sound that would see success with the likes of "Amazed", "I'm Already There", and "What About Now".
This was a R&R only #1, as it only peaked at #2 on Billboard. Easily in my top 2 Lonestar songs with "No News". Though I do enjoy some post "Amazed" singles like "Class Reunion (That Used To Be Us)", "Unusually Unusual" and "What About Now".
Week Ending: 10/16/1998
1. Lonestar - Everything's Changed 2. Reba McEntire - Forever Love 3. Alabama - How Do You Fall In Love 4. Mark Wills - Don't Laugh At Me 5. Shaina Twain - Honey I'm Home 6. Random Video Of The Night:Artist: SHeDaisy Single: "I Will...But" Writers: Kristyn Osborn, Jason Deere Album: The Whole SHeBangLabel: Lyric Street Video Director: Shaun Silva Year Released: March, 2000 Radio and Records Peak: #2 Billboard Peak: #2 "I Will...But" was the third single from SHeDaisy's debut album, The Whole SHeBang. Week Ending: 9/29/2000: R&R1. Tracy Lawrence - Lonely * Six female acts in the top 15. Wow how times have changed. :( 12 of the 15 I genuinely enjoy too. ;) Let us go back to 2000 with today's pick. It is by SHeDAISY and the song is I Will...But. If that hit the top, Lyric Street would have had four chart topping artists. The other three are: Aaron Tippin, Rascal Flatts, and Josh Gracin. Furthermore, if I Will...But hit the top, SHeDAISY would have joined other female groups like the Forester Sisters and the Dixie Chicks in having a #1 record. Just combining these posts!

Random Single Of The Day:
Artist: Jeff Bates Single: "Rainbow Man" Writers: Jeff Bates, Harley Allen Album: Rainbow Man Label: RCA Nashville Producer: Kenny Beard, David Malloy Year Released: August, 2003 Radio and Records Peak: #40 Billboard Peak: #47
"Rainbow Man" was the second single from Jeff Bates' debut album of the same name. The song was co-written by the late Harley Allen. Allen was one of the most respected and credited songwriters in Nashville. He unfortunately past away in 2011 from lung cancer. Some of his single credits were "I'll Wait For You" by Joe Nichols, "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allan, "Like My Dog" by Billy Currington, "My Last Name" by Dierks Bentley, "The Little Girl" by John Michael Montgomery, "Awful Beautiful Life" by Darryl Worley and "The Baby" by Blake Shelton. Jeff also co-wrote every song on his Rainbow Man album.
As usual, there were some lingering songs in the top 15 on Billboard like "No Shoes, No Shirts, No Problems", "Forever And For Alawys" and "Red Dirt Road". "Rainbow Man" would only chart for 7 weeks total as it burned out very quickly. RCA would rush out "I Wanna Make You Cry" would be the next single and make the top 30 in 2004.

BTW: This was the week that the October Surprise Storm hit the Buffalo area. Basically it was a freak snow thunderstorm that dropped a significant amount of snow in October. All of our trees that still had leaves on them, causing power outages across the region. It took me about 10 days to get my power back. I can laugh about it now. But whenever I see this chart week, that's all I can think about.

Like Red On A Rose should have been a top ten for Alan Jackson. I know his sound was different for this CD, thanks to Alison Krauss who produced it.

Do tell about the October Storm. I was out of power for just a week and traffic returned to normal within that time frame in my neck of the woods.

Me and my family fled to Niagara Falls for a motel room. We got the last room available at one and it was the third one we tried. I remember going out the morning after and they put a travel band out, but we needed gas and food so me and my father said, screw it. We thought that we could get stopped but it turns out everyone was trying to get supplies. What was scary was hearing the sound of all the cracking branches the evening the snow hit and seeing the green lightning. The funny thing is it was extremely localized. Amherst where I was got hit the hardest, yet in Lockport for example, they hardly got anything. We can laugh about it now. :)

Can you believe the federal government wanted Erie County to repay it $49 million? Insane!

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Brad Paisley Single: "Celebrity" Writers: Brad Paisley Album: Mud On The Tires Label: Arista Nashville Video Director: Peter Zavadil Year Released: March 17th, 2003 Radio and Records Peak: #3 Billboard Peak: #3
"Celebrity" was the lead single for Brad's Mud On The Tires album. The song was a funny look at the oddities of being famous and the perks of being a modern day celebrity. The music video was directed by Peter Zavadil and was easily one of the most talked about videos of 2003, and features William Shatner (who would return for "Online" in 2007), Jason Alexander (who also would star in "Online"), Tristan Rehn, Jim Belushi and another appearance from Grand Ole Opry legendary member Little Jimmy Dickens. The song would spend three total weeks at #3 with two of those weeks being back to back.
This song is definitely in my top 5 Brad singles and one of my favorite music videos. Disappointed this couldn't find it's way to #1 but the competition was way to steep to overcome those weeks.

I must say Kenny Chesney had 'terrible' timing. First, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems stayed at #2 while Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett hogged all the airplay during the summer of 2003. An exact year later, Live Like You Were Dying could not let I Go Back enjoy a week at #1.
I saluted It's Five O'clock Somewhere in August, 2012. Here is the chart where it was in its first week at #1 (a week before sabre14's chart). Some subtle differences:
BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING AUGUST 9, 2003: 1. IT'S FIVE O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE-ALAN JACKSON AND JIMMY BUFFETT-ARISTA 2. Red Dirt Road-Brooks & Dunn-Arista 3. No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems-Kenny Chesney-BNA 4. Celebrity-Brad Paisley-Arista 5. Beer For My Horses-Toby Keith and Willie Nelson-Dreamworks 6. My Front Porch Looking In-Lonestar-BNA 7. Forever And For Always-Shania Twain-Mercury 8. Real Good Man-Tim McGraw-Curb 9. What Was I Thinkin'-Dierks Bentley-Capitol 10. 99.9% Sure I've Never Been Here Before-Brian McComas-Lyric Street

What Was I Thinkin'-Dierks Bentley-Capitol 10. 99.9% Sure I've Never Been Here Before-Brian McComas-Lyric Street Don't forget Kenny had terrible timing back in April of 2003 when "Big Star" was shut out of #1 by "Have You Forgotten" by Darryl Worley. I remember Stephony Smith during a songwriter acoustic concert on XM radio joking with Wynn Varble who co-wrote "Have You Forgotten" about his song shutting her's out of #1. Then in November of 2005 it happened again to Kenny, when "Who You'd Be Today" peaked at #2 and was shut out by a combination of "Better Life" by Keith Urban and "Come A Little Closer" by Dierks Bentley. Dierks' song leapfrogged from #5 to #1 the week ending 11/25/2005 and edged out Kenny by just 120 total points on R&R. So Kenny from 2003-2005 had a fair share of unfortunate luck.
