Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Martina McBride Single: "When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues" Writers: Leslie Satcher Album: Greatest Hits Label: RCA Nashville Video Director: Steven Goldmann Year Released: June 25th, 2001 Billboard Peak: #8
"When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues" was the lead single for Martina's Greatest Hits album in 2001. The song was written entirely by Leslie Stacher. Stacher has recorded two albums of her own along with writing many country songs such as "I Said A Prayer" by Pam Tillis, "Politically Uncorrect" by Gretchen Wilson and "Troubadour" by George Strait. The song also features Union Station singer Dan Tyminski on backing vocals (he's the one singing "be my baby"). The single would peak at #8.
Martina would reach the top 10 with all four singles from her Greatest Hits album including "Blessed" (#1), "Where Would You Be" (#3), and "Concrete Angel" (#5). She would only reach the top 10 five more times in her career. "This One's For The Girls" and "In My Daughters Eyes" would both hit top 5 in 2003 and 2004, while "Anyway" would peak at #5 in early 2007, "Wrong Baby Wrong" would barely peak at #10 on Mediabase in 2010 and "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" will peak at #4 in 2012. Her latest charting single was "Marry Me" (#45) with Pat Monahan in 2012.
Another song that I vividly remember hearing on those long drives I would take to Six Flags Darien Lake Theme Park in the summer of 2001. The long intro was edited out of the radio version.

"When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues" has long been my least favourite single from this compilation, but I have grown to appreciate its quirkiness. I love power ballads that have soaring vocals, so I thoroughly enjoyed "Where Would You Be," a song I know many hate for that very reason. She has hit the top ten once more since "Wrong Baby Wrong," though - "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" might have missed the top spot, but I believe it went top five.

I think I was so focused on "Wrong Baby Wrong" making the top 10 on Mediabase I forgot the most recent one. It peaked at #4 in 2012. :)

"When God Fearin' Women Get the Blues" is one of those really enjoyable, quirky, one-off type songs. It's one of those songs I rarely hear anymore.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Chad Brock Single: "Ordinary Life" Writers: Connie Harrington, Bonnie Baker Album: Chad Brock Label: Warner Bros. Nashville Video Director: R. Brad Murano Year Released: November 2nd, 1998 Billboard Peak: #3
Well, need not worry, this is not the song "Yes" that many feel is overplayed, but rather Chad Brock's first and only other top 10 single "Ordinary Life". The song was written by Connie Harrington and Bonnie Baker. Harrington has many writing credits over the years including "This Woman Needs" by SHeDaisy, "She Only Smokes When She Drinks" by Joe Nichols, "Every Other Weekend" by Reba and Kenny Chesney or Skip Ewing, "My Heart Is Lost To You" by Brooks & Dunn, "Girls Lie Too" by Terri Clark and "I Drive Your Truck" by Lee Brice. Baker's co-writes include "I Would Cry" by Amy Dalley, "My Sister" by Reba, Tonight" by Sara Evans, and "Rainy Season" by Hunter Hayes.
This was the second career single from Chad after his debut "Evangeline" in 1998 only peaked at #51. "Evangeline" was co-written by well known songwriter Carson Chamberlain who helped write "Walk A Little Straighter" by Billy Currington. The follow up to "Ordinary Life" was "Lightning Does The Work" (#19), and then the Y2K version of "A Country Boy Can Survive" (#30). Then in 2000, Chad had his biggest hit along with one of the biggest hits for the entire year with "Yes". His latest single was actually as recent as 2008 with "Put A Redneck In The White House" which never charted. Chad was a professional wrestler before an injury mad him turn to country music (I remembered to mention that ;)).
Even though I enjoyed "Yes" for nostalgic purposes, I liked "Ordinary Life" better. I remember seeing Chad on CMT for the first time and having my expectations shattered for what I pictured he would look like. It's obvious he used to be a wrestler and is more hefty than the normal recording artists. Chad has been a disc jockey in the Tampa region and even has plans to run for the U.S Senate.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: SHeDaisy Single: "In Terms Of Love" Writers: Don Schlitz, Kristyn Osborn Album: Fortunetellers Melody Label: Lyric Street Video Director: Andrew MacNaughtan Year Released: May 8th, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #28 Billboard Peak: #32
"In Terms Of Love" was the second and final single from SHeDaisy's last studio album Fortunetellers Melody. The song was written by Don Schlitz and Kristyn Osborn. Schlitz is probably best known for writing "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers which was a huge crossover single. But his list of songs is quite long and includes "Forever And Ever Amen" by Randy Travis, "40 Hour Week" by Alabama, "I Think About You" by Collin Raye, "I Watched It (All On My Radio)" by Lionel Cartwright, "Say Yes" by Dusty Drake, "Why They Call It Falling" by Lee Ann Womack, "Rockin' With The Rhythm Of The Rain" by The Judds, and "Crazy From The Heart" by The Bellamy Brothers.
Unfortunately this was the last we heard from SHeDaisy on the charts. The only other single from this album was "I'm Taking The Wheel" (#20 on R&R). The music video features fourth sister Karli who was filling in for Kelsi who just had a baby. This is probably my second favorite from them behind "I'm Taking The Wheel". Here's the week that "In Terms Of Love" peaked in August of 2006.
Week Ending: 8/18/2006
20. Heartland - I Loved Her First 21. Lonestar - Mountains 22. Blaine Larsen - I Don't Know What She Said 23. Gretchen Wilson - California Girls 24. Jack Ingram - Love You 25. Montgomery Gentry - Some People Change 26. Sugarland - Want To 27. Rascal Flatts - Life Is A Highway 28. SHeDaisy - In Terms Of Love 29. Emerson Drive - A Good Man 30. Taylor Swift - Tim McGraw

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Love and Theft Single: "Dancing In Circles" Writers: Stephen Barker Liles, Robert Ellis Orrall, Roger Springer Album: World Wide Open Label: Carolwood/Lyric Street Video Director: Kristen Barlowe Year Released: November 30th, 2009 Mediabase Peak: #24 Billboard Peak: #25
"Dancing In Circles" was the second and final single from Love and Theft's debut album World Wide Open. The song would also be the final single off Carolwood/Lyric Street as the label would shutter their Nashville division soon after. The song was co-written by Robert Ellis Orrall of Orrall and Wright who was a country duo in the early to mid 90's and a songwriting duo since then. Orrall helped pen "Get Outta My Way" by Carolina Rain, "Wrong Baby Wrong" by Martina McBride, and "Look It Up" by Ashton Shepherd. Roger Springer who also co-wrote "Dancing In Circles had a record deal with Giant back in the 90's and charted two singles with "The Right One Left" (#69), and "Don't Try To Find Me" (#64). He also helped write "Thank God For Believers" and "It's A Little Too Late" by Mark Chesnutt.
This song definitely had a pop feel t it but the melody and harmonies were great and still one of my favorites by them. This would also be the last of Brian Bandas who would leave the group not long after. Here's the chart the week that "Dancing In Circles" peaked in April of 2010.
Week Ending: 4/9/2010
20. Miranda Lambert - The House That Built Me 21. Luke Bryan - Rain Is A Good Thing 22. The Band Perry - Hip To My Heart 23. Jason Aldean - Crazy Town 24. Love and Theft - Dancing In Circles 25. Toby Keith - Every Dog Has It's Day 26. Brad Paisley - Water 27. Lee Brice - Love Like Crazy 28. Danny Gokey - My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me 29. Jerrod Niemann - Lover Lover 30. Gretchen Wilson - Work Hard, Play Harder 31. Jaron and the Long Road to Love - Pray For You 32. Craig Morgan - This Ain't Nothin' 33. Matt Kennon - The Call 34. David Nail - Turning Home 35. Uncle Kracker - Smile 36. Jewel - Stay Here Forever 37. Little Big Town - Little White Church 38. Laura Bell Bundy - Giddy On Up 39. James Wesley - Jackson Hole 40. Emily West - Blue Sky

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband Single: "Banjo Boy" Writers: Ryan Shupe Album: Dream Big Label: Capitol Nashville Video Director: Peter Zavadil Year Released: October, 2005 (went for adds again in March of 2006) Radio and Records Peak: Did Not Chart Billboard Peak: Did Not Chart
Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband is a five member band comprised of Ryan Shupe (lead vocals, fiddle, guitar), Craig Miner (banjo, mandolin, vocals), Roger Archibald (guitar, vocals), Ryan Tilby (bass guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Nate Smeding (drums). They grew a following in their native Utah, and soon would release music via Tydal Wave Records like Simplify, The Gift, and Hey Hey Hey. In 2005 they were signed to Capitol Nashville and released their debut single "Dream Big" to radio in April of that year. Most of the songs on their debut major label album Dream Big were actually on their Hey Hey Hey album. After the lead single would peak at #25 on R&R, and they followed it with "Banjo Boy" which failed to do anything in late 2005. Then Capitol re-released the song in 2006 with not much better results. The group would be dropped afterwards.
They would sign to Montage Music Group in 2008 and release Last Man Standing with one single "Be The One" which failed to chart. Montage would close it's doors and the group went back to making music independently. They are currently working on a new record that will likely be out later this year.
"Dream Big" was fantastic and such a breath of fresh air on country radio. There's no chance it would chart in 2014 though. "Banjo Boy" is a diddy song, but done in a clever way IMO. Their album, Dream Big was great though might not be for everyone. "Even Superman" and "Would You Love Me" were the two standouts.

"When God Fearin' Women Get the Blues" is one of those really enjoyable, quirky, one-off type songs. It's one of those songs I rarely hear anymore. I'm late to this, but I do enjoy this song a lot. I didn't appreciate it as much when it was first released, but over time I like this song more and more. I especially love the accompanying video - Martina has always done good videos, and I think that this is one of her best. I wouldn't want too many songs like this from her, but I'm glad that this exists in her catalog.

Random Video Of The Day: Artist: Kellie Pickler Single: "Red High Heels" Writers: Kellie Pickler, Aimee Mayo, Karyn Rochelle, Chris Lindsey Album: Small Town GirlLabel: BNA Video Director: Chris Hicky Year Released: September 13th, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #13 Billboard Peak: #15 "Red High Heels" was the debut single from Kellie Pickler. The song was helped written by Aimee Mayo, Karyn Rochelle, and Chris Lindsey. Rochelle has written many country singles such as "Don't You Know Your Beautiful" and Makin' Me Fall In Love Again" by the featured artist Kellie Pickler and the Trisha Yearwood singles "Georgia Rain" and "This Is Me You're Talking To". Lindsey has helped write with Rochelle and Mayo Kellie's next single "I Wonder" as well as "This One's For The Girls" by Martina McBride and Lonestar's mega hit "Amazed" with Mayo. He also wrote "Smile" by Lonestar as well. This song would peak in January of 2007 and set up the release of her debut album Small Town Girl which featured "I Wonder" (#13 on Mediabase) and "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind" (#14 on Mediabase). I didn't like this the first few times I heard it but now I actually have grown to enjoy this song and it definitely brings back to late 2006. I believe this is .indulgecountry's fave from Kellie as well. ;)

It is my favorite KP song! "Red High Heels" is also one of my all-time favorite songs, period, and it just never ages for me. It continues to stay fresh and enjoyable, and the personality on this track is just overwhelmingly tangible. I can't listen to "Heels" and not instantly be put in a better mood and have the urge to smile and/or sing along. I remember when it first came out and my nana called me on the phone to tell me that she was singing this on some talk show. At the time I wasn't as savvy with finding music on the Internet, so I hadn't known she'd been scooped up and had music coming out, but I absolutely LOVED her on Idol. I was so ecstatic that her too-soon sixth place finish wasn't the end.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Wreckers Single: "Leave The Pieces" Writers: Billy Austin, Jennifer Hanson Album: Stand Still, Look Pretty Label: Maverick/Warner Bros. Video Director: Trey Fanjoy Year Released: March, 2006 Mediabase peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1
"Leave The Pieces" were the debut single from the duo, the Wreckers. They were comprised of Jessica Harp and Michelle Branch. Harp was a backing singer for Branch who was a pop singer before forming the duo and the two friends decided to pursue a country music record deal and were soon signed to Maverick with Warner Bros. Nashville. "Leave The Pieces" would peak at #1 for two weeks in September of 2006 and be off their Stand Still, Look Pretty album. The song was co-written by singer/songwriter Jennifer Hanson who also co-wrote "A Different World" by Bucky Covington, and "Let Me Down Easy" by Billy Currington, along with having her own top 20 single in 2003 called "Beautiful Goodbye" (#16).
The follow up would be "My, Oh My" (#8 on Mediabase) and peaked in early 2007. The final single from the album and the duo would be "Tennessee" (#34) in mid 2007. They would split after just one album and go back to pursue solo careers. Jessica had a top 490 in 2009 with "Boy Like Me" (#33 on Mediabase) and Michelle would also have a top 50 single later that year with "Sooner Or Later" (#44 on Mediabase, though a unbulleted peak).
This song is pure 2006 summer nostalgia. Got tired of it back then but when I hear it now which I did on my ride home today, it's a welcome song on my speakers.

Random Single Of The Day:
Artist: Gary Allan Single: "A Feelin' Like That" Writers: Ira Dean, David Lee Murphy, Kim Tribble Album: Greatest Hits Label: MCA Nashville Producer: Mark Wright, Gary Allan Year Released: October 23rd, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #12 Billboard Peak: #12
"A Feelin' Like That" was the only single from Gary Allan's Greatest Hits album in 2007. The song was released in October of 2006 and was written by he writing team of David Lee Murphy and Kim Tribble, along with Trick Pony member Ira Dean. Dean also co-wrote Montgomery Gentry's top 5 single "One In Every Crowd" (#5). The song would just miss out at being a top 10 single, peaking at #12 in April of 2007. The follow up would be the lead for Gary's Living Hard album titled "Watching Airplanes" which was a Mediabase #1 single.
When I saw him open for Rascal Flatts along with Taylor Swift in November of 2006 (first concert without Eric Church who had just been kicked off the tour and replaced by Taylor), I heard Gary singing this song during soundcheck when I was waiting in the concourse. Gary's the biggest reason I went and was thoroughly impressed by his performance.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Trace Adkins Single: "I Wanna Feel Something" Writers: David Lee, Tony Lane Album: Dangerous Man Label: Capitol Nashville Video Director: Wes Edwards Year Released: April 16th, 2007 Mediabase Peak: #23 Billboard Peak: #25
"I Wanna Feel Something" was the third and final single from Trace's Dangerous Man album in April of 2007. The song was written by Tony Lane and David Lee. Tony Lane also wrote the track "I Came Here To Live" off this album which was easily one of the best things Trace has ever recorded. I always viewed this single as the turning point of Trace's shaky chart success. He would only have two more top 10 singles after "I Wanna Feel Something" with the huge hit "You're Gonna Miss This" (#1) and "Just Fishin'" (#6). His next single would bomb badly ("I Got My Game On" #34). His three charting singles were "Million Dollar View" (#38), "Them Lips (On Mine)" (#52), and "Watch The World End" (#57).
This might be the most forgotten Trace Adkins song other than some of his earlier songs like "Big Time" (#27) and "Help Me Understand" (#17). "I Wanna Feel Something" would only spend 18 weeks on the chart and peak at #23 on Mediabase in June. Though the song would fall back to #26, it rebounded to #24 for it's final bulleted week here before losing it's bullet and falling to #30 the following week.

Artist: Brad Paisley Single: "I Wish You'd Stay" Writers: Brad Pailsey, Chris DuBois Album: Part II Label: Arista Nashville Video Director: Brad Paisley, Devin Pence Year Released: August 12th, 2002 Billboard Peak: #7
"I Wish You'd Stay" was the fourth and final single from Brad Paisley's album Part II. The song was written with Brad by Chris DuBois. Chris has helped write many of Brad's songs. He also has co-written some singles for other artist like "Your Man" by Josh Turner, "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker, "The More I Drink" by Blake Shelton, "I Love You This Much" by Jimmy Wayne, "This Ain't Nothin'" by Craig Morgan, and his biggest hit as a songwriter "19 Somethin'" by Mark Wills which spent 6 weeks at #1 and was the second biggest song of the decade according to Billboard.
The follow up to "I Wish You'd Stay" would be "Celebrity" off Brad's Mud On The Tires album. This song wouldn't peak until early 2003, where it reached #7. This is one of Brad's forgotten songs IMO. It's also one of his best in a career full of stellar songs.

I Wish You'd Stay is easily in my top 5 favorite songs from Brad Paisley. I've never been a huge fan of his but I really like this song. Never understood why it faded into obscurity as much as it has while other songs of his have remained popular (specifically Ticks, which I personally despise). Also did not know the writer of this song wrote so many other great songs.

^Love, love, love "I Wish You'd Stay." Was this really 12 years ago already? How times have changed at country radio. This would probably be left as an album track today :/

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Autumn Hill Single: "Can't Keep Waiting" Writers: Mike Robins, Tareya Green, Jamie Appleby, Alyssa Reid Album: Favourite Mistake Label: Wax Records Video Director: Marc Andre Debruyne Year Released: April 9th, 2013 Canadian Billboard Peak: #19
"Can't Keep Waiting" was the second single from Canadian duo Autumn Hill. It was off their debut album Favourite Mistake which was released later in the year. The song was helped write by Canadian pop singer/songwriter Alyssa Reid. Alyssa is also a Wax recording artist. Her biggest hit was "Alone Again" (#11) with P.Regin in 2010. Autumn Hill's other singles off this album were "Anything At All" (#12), "Fire" (#22), and "If She Wants This Town" (#24). Their names are Mike Robins (Toronto, Ontario), and Tareya Green (Calgary, Alberta)
Definitely one of my favorite country music acts on either side of the border. They make trips to Nashville quite often, so hopefully they can hook on with an American label very soon. This song made the top 20 songs from 2013 on This is Country Music website's list which I sometimes contribute to.
