Calvin Harris's third studio album, 18 Months, is almost done overseas, with the exception of the US where his latest single, "Thinking About You", which features vocals from Ayah Marar, was released in October last year and it's getting some radio airplay nowadays, being in the Top 40 on CHR/Pop. Also, during that period of time, it was released overseas a new song from him with Alesso called "Under Control", which features vocals from Hurts' singer Theo Hutchcraft. "Under Control" (Music Video) There's no further information about a new album, but according to the information below from Popjustice, it will come out this year. I know, it's strange, but it could happen. Also, it's expected that the sound of the new album would be away from pop and into the dance territory. In an interview with Music Week, after he won the Ivor Novello for Songrwriter of the Year in 2013, he said:

I'm so ready for a new Calvin album. His last two albums have been some of my favorite albums ever. Whether he wants to make hits or not, I will love it. Personally speaking, I don't think he's ever sacrificed quality. I would be down for some darker dance music, something like Ready For The Weekend or something similar to Hot Since 82. I am bummed out he said he won't be doing anymore of his own vocals.

I really hope he isn't completely serious about not singing on his tracks anymore because I actually enjoy his singing voice. I wouldn't be mad at all if he went more with his I Created Disco sound tbh or something progressive. With Calvin's material I've enjoyed all his albums, but 18 Months is my least favorite album by him so not looking for a part II of all that.

Wow! There are so many interesting points here First of all, I agree with James that Calvin hasn't sacrificed quality. It's true that 18 Months tends to be radio-friendly/kind of generic at some points and I'm quite sure that it happened after the success of "We Found Love", so the original idea (I don't know whether or not he had one) that he showed before on "Awooga", "Bounce" and "Feel So Close" was changed. Regarding the lack of/not singing on his tracks, I think Calvin would do a couple on his next album. I mean, the first time he said he will not sing on any of his future tracks was back in late 2010. However, he did on "Feel So Close" and "Iron". I remember that he said that his voice suited on the former track, while he recorded the vocals on the latter when Nicky Romero sent him the instrumental. As a consequence, he could sing on a track if and only if he feels that his voice could suit on it, so I guess that was the main reason why he turned down the idea of singing on "Under Control" in favor of Theo Hutchcraft. Being said that, I agree with Elle because one of the reasons I really like from Calvin is his voice and that's why I enjoy I Created Disco and Ready for the Weekend, so I still have hopes that he's going to sing (not as much as I would want to though). By the way, I also agree with her that his next album shouldn't be a 18 Months part 2, but with the premise in the quote, it seems that he wouldn't do. I also hope he could do something harder like his remix of "Eat Sleep Rave Repeat" or a mix of I Created Disco and Ready for the Weekend actually.

Calvin Harris, Jay Z and Will Smith are joining forces with Irvine Welsh to create an HBO comedy about EDM called Higher. According to a press release:
Jay-Z hosted his annual Roc Nation Pre-GRAMMY brunch yesterday and Calvin Harris attended with Rita Ora (seems that they're back) and he took photos with Rihanna, Jay Brown and Jay Z as well.

As expected, Rita Ora's new single is produced by Calvin Harris. It's called "I Will Never Let You Down" and Rita said the following about working with him on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw: However, Calvin said it's not EDM at all.

Yeah. I'm not sure, but I think he was referring to this article, where Rita and him were compared to Beyoncรฉ and Jay Z. On the other side, it's still unsure whether he's going to be credited as a featured artist or not on the track.

I just can't wait for it! After Radioactive, I've wanted a collabo between the two to hear how her voice would mesh with his production.

That's gonna be good. I agree with horchata on, well, everything. His singing voice isn't technically the best, but he has a certain quality that demands attention. I would really hate for him to let that go. Dunno if he's going to go back to his roots after his recent pop success though, not that I'd be devastated or anything if he never did. That said, cliche as it is, 'I'm Not Alone' is still my favorite song of his and I'd love him to go back to what he was doing there. Off topic, but wasn't he the one who turned down working with Gaga because he thought she was full of s**t? Lolol

His most recent "new" release is "Under Control" with Alesso & Hurts, which truthfully I love in a guilty pleasure way, but isn't at all the direction I'd like to see him go. Swedish House Calvin seems like a far cry from his original positioning in dance music, but given the song's massive success in Europe I feel he may be headed there.
"I'm Not Alone" is a career high point; couldn't agree more. It's too bad that song came before he broke the US, because it would have cemented his status as a legitimate artist and not just a popular collaborator here in one fell swoop. "Flashback" and "You Used To Hold Me" are more in line with what I hope comes next as well.

Hoping Calvin works with new vocalists on the next album, particularly ones who aren't usually utilized in the dance or EDM genre!
I loved that he worked with Florence Welch and Kelis on 18 Months!

So, Calvin Harris attended with Rita Ora to the BRIT Awards 2014 and there are some photos from the Red Carpet below. Also, he chats with Georgia LA on the BRITs backstage. BTW, someone is really in love, he (intentionally) 'shades' Ellie Goulding and both of them are together because of Max.

Off topic, but wasn't he the one who turned down working with Gaga because he thought she was full of s**t? Lolol Actually, it was a misunderstanding that was posted on Wikipedia several time ago. It was said that he turned down working with her in early 2008 after she e-mailed him, when it was her team that did that, asking him to remix some album cuts and he said he didn't have enough time. All the information is here and here.
From Capital FM: It's coming I'm personally not so into the idea of releasing a whole bunch of singles before the launch of an album (1 or 2, even 3, are tolerable), but I can't deny that this formula really worked for him, despite it hurt in a sort of a way the sales of 18 Months, although it's still his best selling album. Being said that, we know the following so far from above: โข He has talked about three new songs, where two of them are being featured by male artists. โข One of them is taken some time, but he thinks it's a good one. โข Another one is expected to have a major collaboration, despite he's working to get the team-up signed off. โข The last one is done, but he needs to convince his collaborator that it's good.

We'll Be Coming Back is still my favorite track from him. Love this man.
I still remember where he bitched out Chris Brown for copying his song. :kii: Where Chris at now??

Gotta hand it to him, I don't think I've seen many acts tour as much as he does. He's been performing festivals back to back for the past few years now without much of a break.

Popjustice has revealed that Calvin Harris's new single is coming out at the end of April (presumably on the 27) in the UK, so the radio premiere should be next week as he tweeted some days ago and the video should be around late this month / early April. Also, Emil Nava, who was the director of "I Need Your Love" and "Under Control", called smash the new song from Calvin as it's posted below, so he may directed it as well. ETA: According to a reply to a guy on Twitter, the person who is going to do the vocals on the track is him. In other words, BEST NEWS EVER! :'( Slay me Calvin with your voice.
