Say it ain't so muskrat lovers! Cathryn ("Toni") Tennille, 73, one half of famous '70s musical act Captain & Tennille, filed for divorce from her husband, Daryl Dragon, 71, after 39 years of marriage. Yahoo Music spoke with the Yavapai County courthouse on Wednesday, which confirmed the filing in Prescott, Arizona, on Jan. 16. They have no children together.
The husband-and-wife duo were the force behind such original hits and cover songs that included "Love Will Keep Us Together," "Muskrat Love," "Do That to Me One More Time," "Lonely Night (Angel Face)," and "Shop Around." The Captain was originally a keyboardist for the Beach Boys — with Toni later joining him on tour — before they launched their own act in 1974 after being discovered by Neil Sedaka performing at the Smokehouse restaurant in Burbank, California. They won the Record of the Year Grammy in 1975 for "Love Will Keep Us Together," and went on to host a variety series on ABC from 1976-1977. TMZ spoke with Daryl, who said that he was blind-sided by the filing. "I don't know why she filed," he said. "I gotta figure it out for myself first."

Love won't keep them together! Seventies singing duo Captain & Tennille to divorce after 39 years of marriage
By Colette Fahy PUBLISHED: 18:31 EST, 22 January 2014 | UPDATED: 18:46 EST, 22 January 2014 Their most famous hit is Love Will Keep Us Together but Seventies singing duo Captain & Tennille's marriage has ended. 73-year-old Toni Tennille, whose real name is Cathryn Antoinette Tennille, filed for divorce from Daryl Dragon (The Captain), 71, on January 16 after 39 years of marriage but he admits he has no idea why. The shocked star told TMZ: 'I don't know why she filed. I gotta figure it out for myself first.' The musician - who was once a keyboard player for the Beach Boys - added the duo are still living together despite the split. They have no children. Tennille filed her documents at the Prescott, Arizona City courthouse, RumorFix confirms. The couple became famous in the Seventies for their songs Love Will Keep Us Together, Muskrat Love and Do that to Me One More Time. They released their first album in 1974 and won a Grammy in 1975. Tennille revealed in 2010 that the Captain was suffering from a neurological condition similar to Parkinson’s which was affecting his ability to play the keyboard. She wrote on her blog: ‘There is only one thing that has not worked out the way I had hoped. Daryl told me this morning that he is not up to performing the three C&T songs I had hoped he could do. ‘Many of you know he is dealing with a neurological condition (not Parkinsons, but something similar) that causes him to have tremors...pretty severe at times.... that interfere with his ability to play keyboards. ‘Some days he does pretty well.... other days his playing is severely compromised. His condition is exascerbated by any kind of stress, and worrying about his ability to play has made his condition worse. 'Also, his sister, Carmen, passed away recently, and he is trying to deal with that loss in his own way. I hope all of you understand that he would be there if he could, but it isn’t possible this time. Maybe next year (sic).’ Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2544280/Seventies-singing-duo-Captain-Tennille-set-divorce-39-years-marriage.html#ixzz2rBdbBukH

Weird to see a divorce at that age. You made at it that far...what's a couple of more years.

Weird to see a divorce at that age. You made at it that far...what's a couple of more years. The worst was Roy E. Disney's divorce... he and his wife of many years were like, a hundred and fighting over this billion-dollar estate... I mean, how ridiculous... and then they both died not long after.
