Holy shit get back on topic.
I hate to nitpick, but just want to point out to @markg94 that fun. actually did release singles from their first album prior to "We Are Young" reaching #1... And I do believe they'll back to the top spot someday. But yes, Katy's dominance is incredible. She'll be passing Rihanna before we know it.

She'll be passing Rihanna before we know it. well as mentioned in a different thread we shouldn't just judge an artist based on weeks at #1 or how many songs got to #1 after their first. It's worth noting that all the artists I mentioned in the previous comment who only got to #1 with their first single since 2010 except for Gotye/Kimbra have had at least one other song get to the top 10 (luckily for Carly, the Owl City song on which she was featured managed to squeeze into the top 10, which I was worried it wouldn't) so clearly they aren't OHW's at all! |

I'm amazed a song like Let Her Go even did as well as it did in the States lol. Its a very folksy/slow tempo, retro early 70s sounding song. Zero r&b/urban/RHY appeal yet it still was a solid top 10 on both pop and the Hot 100. 5-10 (especially) years ago it prob. wouldnt have been released or charted in America lol

I have to agree. Royals is slow, boring, and Lorde's voice is severely overrated. I really hope she doesn't win a single Grammy tonight. I am catching on to Team, however, so I will admit she's not horrible, just not as good as she thinks she is.
