What about "The Monster"? Ah, I forgot about that one. So, two songs have accomplished that then. three* Roar was reported to be #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 news article one or two days before the release of the official music video to Vevo/YouTube.

"Burn" is now top 5 in airplay without hitting the H100 top ten. And honestly there's a chance it won't make the top ten with Beyonce and Pharrell surging. What's the highest a song has gotten in airplay without making the top ten of the Hot 100? A more recent example could be Demi Lovato's Give Your Heart a Break (#6 in airplay, #16 in Hot 100)

Is any measure perfect though? Digital Songs doesn't take into effect album sales, which hurts song chart positions for artists like Adele or Eminem. I don't think it would hurt Adele at all. Rolling in the deep is the second best selling digital song of all time and someone like you is over 5 million while set fire to the rain is over 4 million Without her massive album sales, I bet each of those singles would have sold at least another two million a piece.
