The streaming for the commercial indeed counted for "Only Time"; it had some 5 million U.S. streams the week it re-entered.

The streaming for the commercial indeed counted for "Only Time"; it had some 5 million U.S. streams the week it re-entered. Did that happen before or after the "tweaking" of streams? That's my real question. It seemed like we had a flurry of viral "hits" from Kanye, Bon Jovi, Beyonce and Enya and then it stopped. Perhaps because this is current, it will have more impact - like Wrecking Ball Chatroullet.

Looks like streaming was "tweaked" beginning with the Dec. 7 chart- which happened to be the week "Only Time" re-entered.

A Backstreet Boys song blow up? Pretty unlikely. Someone add this on the yesterdays airplay update... so It was actually a joke of me asking. Just like today they posted a Britney Spears song that must have received a few spins somewhere ... I doubt ever BSB could come back with their cheesy 90's songs.

Not feeling all the love for Happy....and I find it annoying when a commercial song blows up, like, why didn't it get airplay before?? Well it was 3 weeks at number one in the UK and it was also selling well in other parts of Europe which is probably why the label decided to release it here in the US. I'm not sure they get the same commercials we get here so I don't know if it had anything to do with why it was so successful in Europe. But it was an indication it might sell here as well. The song is on the Despicable Me soundtrack which came and went here without fanfare so it was initially overlooked. In addition, Happy is an Oscar nominated song so it looks like other people don't consider it just a 'commercial song'. Yes, but I feel without the commercial this would not be happening to Happy.

With Shakira being such a global name, a lot of those views probably come from non-U.S. territories. Still, though, it should give a it a nice chart boost. It's just outside the top 20 on iTunes.

The morning after the Super Bowl and the only changes in the top 10 on iTunes are Bruno at numbers 8 and 9, with "The Man" at #5.
Commercials were pretty lackluster this year and they don't seem to be moving many digital singles.

Passenger's "Let Her Go," now No. 2 on iTunes, and has grown from .45 to .73 in pop bars in the last 12 hours.
"Young Girls" has even increased, and it wasn't even performed.
RE airplay, the gains for "Happy" are phenomenal.

Can I just say how "Happy" I am to see Pharrell ready to go top 20? I downloaded it after seeing Despicable Me 2 last summer. I'm guessing Pharrell avoided promoting it then because he was already all over the radio with BL and GL. It seems pretty rare that songs from animated movies make the top 10. I can only think of the songs from Disney's 90's hey day that have done the same.

I'm really rooting for this song. AUSTIN MAHONE – Mmm Yeah f/Pitbull: 1.323One of the best new songs this year, it peaked at #2 on itunes without a banner, I hope radio keeps playing it. Thats his worst song and it sounds like it shouldve been released in 2011. It sounds like it should've been released in 1992, which it was; it's essentially a remake of Lidell Townsell's "Nu Nu," a top 40 from the spring of '92. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp561lLvpBY

Commercials were pretty lackluster this year and they don't seem to be moving many digital singles. Bruno Mars has 14 positions on the top 200 singles chart including 2 songs at #6 & 7, plus he's #1, 4 & #9 on the album charts. Red Hot Chili Pepers is #6 on the album chart and has 4 on the top 200 singles chart. The commercials are moving for Aloe Blacc. The Ellen commercial for Beats using his song has moved Can You Do This to #39 as well as The Man at #5. Passenger is up to #2 for Let Her Go plus there's an acoustic version now at #164 I didn't watch all the commercials so I'd need to know which other ones featured music to see if they're getting a bump as well.

Wow, Pharrell is killing it, not only in the US, but worldwide too! Blurred Lines, then Get Lucky, and now Happy, this is shaping up to be an amazing era for him. Pretty amazing to think he only had one album out before this in 2006, and 8 years later, he's on top of his game.
I know he's been on a lot of featured hits, but he's finally breaking through solo, good for him.

Shakira, such a global force. I hadn't previously noticed that Vevo's chart runs Sunday-Saturday.
