I can see how people would be turned off by Cole and his 'bro country' vibe. However, I loved Chillin It a ton and also saw him live (fantastic imo) so I really enjoy the record. I love Hey Y'all and Lemme See Ya Girl...both very catchy. Solid cd. Here's to Dierks, DNail and EYB having killer albums the next 2 weeks. Didn't mean to come off as dismissive, just my personal opinion. I just think it's a combination of growing tired of the themes in bro-country right as this album is coming out...I don't hate bro-country, I just want diversity. Gimme some bro-, and other country themes to balance it out and I'd be perfectly fine with country music. I'm watching Swindell, Brice, and Bryan this coming Friday, here's to a good time and good show.

As far as singles the smart idea would be hope you get lonely coming next then having let me see ya girl this summer as the summer single "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight" is the 2nd single, and therefore it's also the summer single. It has to be. "Chillin' It" just wrapped up its 30th week on the Billboard chart. If we are generous and only give HYGLT a 25-week chart run, it wouldn't peak until mid-August. And more than likely, it will need more than 25 weeks to peak, so we're looking at a late August/September peak for single #2. By the time the 3rd single is released the school year will be starting up once again.

I actually too get tired of the overwhelming amount of bro country songs, even though most are actually catchy. I just wish we could replace some of those songs with songs with deeper meaning such as Family Man by Craig Campbell, Be Grateful by The Farm, etc. Enjoy the show, Cole and Luke are both awesome live!

^Funny you mention those three songs as more traditional because those are the only songs I could bear long enough for a full listen. The production however makes my like for them no more than middling. 2-2.5 stars (and everything else is obviously much worse; just not my style - no offense if you love this). Those 3 and "I Just Want You" are the only ones I picked up off iTunes. Whereas EYB has had 4 songs off their album that I have already loved without hearing the rest of the album...Gotta say this album may quickly get lost in the shuffle between The Outsiders, 10,000 Towns, Riser, and I'm a Fire. . From your mouth to God's ears... In all fairness this album isn't awful, it just isn't very good. Dann Huff has officially met his match. This is probably the worst produced album I've ever heard that didn't have Huff's magic touch on it. Ain't Worth the Whiskey and I Just Want you are pretty good - the production doesn't add much, but at least it didn't kill the song. It tries to kill Hope You Get Lonely, but it's still fairly tolerable. I guess A Dozen Roses and a Six-Pack is ok, but the rest of the album is just a trainwreck (the worst being Down Home Boys - I was seething before that turd was over with). He's obviously trying to recapture the sound that works so well for FGL, but what makes FGL so popular is their ability to write killer catchy melodies. Chillin' It comes the closest, but there's just nothing FGL level catchy here. Many of the songs are better written and developed, but without the proper production and melodies to back them, this album falls way short (i'd give it 2.5 stars personally - and that's being generous).

Wow your'e right about "Down Home Boys". That song was just a mess. I had to turn my speakers down when it came on. And that first verse lyrics were laughable. Almost like they set out to write as many bro-country cliches as humanely possible. I agree that this wasn't awful. In fact I liked it better than FGL's debut effort which is not the best of compliments because almost anything would be for me. The production did take away what little quality was in many of these tracks. The story and melody of "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight" is good, but the loudness and sound wall from the guitars really hinder my wanting to truly like the song. Other tracks like "Hey Y'all", and "Let Me See Ya Girl" are very unmemorable and not nearly as catchy as I thought the titles would suggest. Personally I do feel they picked the correct second single. "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight" I expect to do very well at radio for him but I can't make any predictions after that.

Hope You Get Lonely, You Ain't Worth the Whiskey, I Just Want You, and Dozen Roses and a Six Pack are the four least bro songs on the album. I like them all and have a few guilty pleasures as well.

This is heading for a pretty strong debut, but it won't be #1 on the Billboard 200 or Top Country Albums. Hits is predicting 55-60k in first-week sales for Cole, but it sounds like Eric will still be quite a bit above that in week two.
